Well let's see judging by the fact there are calculators online for ft lbs of energy.. if you sort out the fps.. hence the chronograph.. say 1290-1300 fps.. 600 grain projectile.. makes it around.. 2200-2300 ft lbs of energy.. at the point where it passes the chronograph..
@@davidsmith9189 That is positively not true. The barrel length absolutely effects velocity. The only limiting factor in that is the powder charge. If you have a great muzzle flash as the bullet leaves the barrel, that is wasted energy. Add 6 inches to that barrel and muzzle velocity increases. There is an optimal balance between barrel length and powder charge. Faster burning powders serve the short barrel well, but with barrels over 28 inches and bullet weights over 350 grains, fast burning powders do not maintain chamber pressure long enough to fully accelerate the bullet. A slower burning powder allows for more powder to be used, producing a longer burn time and increased muzzle velocity. There is a reason the 45/70 has such a long case. It needs plenty of room to fully ignite the fuel before maximum pressure is reached.
@@davidsmith9189 You need to study the laws of acceleration. velocity increases exponentially while force is applied. The last 6 inches of a 24 inch barrel accelerates the bullet as much as the first 18 provided the pressure remains equal.

Yep, 1300-fps is really good for a 600-grain projectile exiting an 18-inch barrel from a Marlin 1895-SBL. For curiosity's sake, I wonder how many fps you might pick up by exiting out of a 26-inch barrel from a Marlin 1895-CB or how many fps you might lose by exiting out of a 16-inch barrel from a Marlin 1895-Trapper? Good video. Thank you.
Speaking only in terms of velocity A2015 just isn't as efficient.. It did give complete burn with this bullet at 1050fps for a good sub load, in some of my 300 grain testing it was leaving powder in the chamber. I randomly picked up the 2015 a couple years ago and keep trying to find a good use for it, no luck yet. IMR4198 has outperformed it in all of my testing so far, planning to try it in 308 next week.

@@ibtrippn08 they are big enough you might be able to see the shadow with a very sharp eye. The mk-19 has a max range of 2200 meters and I do remember being able to see those 40mm grenades sail downrange.
Subcribed because of awesome channel name and well made video.
I appreciate it!
thats a dino killer for sure buddy!
That round was absolutely putting a wallop on the water out there
.50 BMG: 600 grains, son!
.45-70 Government: Listen here, you little shit...
Now THAT is some lead poisoning! Wow
Wheel bearing grease works great to
Nice to see the same riff-raff hanging out around here. Thanks for the video. I need to get that mold in hollow point, the rg4. I have the 459-500 but more is better.
I have the rg4 of this mold but without the crimp groove. I've never tried to cast HP's before, might be time to try those single shot style.
@@ibtrippn08 NOE hollow points are a bastard, get the pins hot and get a bigger mold whacker. . see ruclips.net/video/C9LJpIMjG8E/видео.html
I could use the flat sided hollow point, let me know if you wan't to sell or trade. I paper patch up to .468 for my martini henrys and I don't need the crimp grove.
i am going to try this,,,great video,,,,,,,,this is the real deal,,
You should get a bullet catcher, that's a lot of lead to plink with. Awesome video btw. Thanks for sharing
A bullet trap is not far down my list of things to do. When I find some half inch plate steel for the right place I intend to weld one together. I appreciate it, thanks for watching!
Nice cartridge for the BFR 45-70 revolver
I like my 4570 BFR revolver and I load lee mold 500 grain wheel weight lead powder coated up to 1,600 feet per second. You use the same muscles swinging a sledgehammer. It feels awsome .
When your round is so powerful it instantly cooks whatever you hunted
Look at that recoil!
Awesome! Takes an awful long time to fill that 4 cavity mold 😎. Can’t wait to get one for myself.
so, are these the new anti-Tyrannid rounds I have heard so much about? The Adeptus Mechanicus sure come up with some impressive stuff
Non-Chaos space marines are weenies! 😜
@@JunkfoodZombieGuns HERECY DETECTED, DEPLOY THE SMURF MARINES!!
@@tonarsilverwolf6485 Haha! I ain't afraid of those little boy scouts! 😝
Wow!...had no idea you could run that big a round through a lever gun...(can you load up a few of these ---seems like a great round for hunting chipmonks) :)
That would be an awesome subsonic round. Even at 900fps I bet it would work well on any deer you can hit!
I plan to load them subsonic in the coming months, this barrel is currently in the hands of class 3 machining ;)
Just Some BS awesome! Keep us in the loop!
@@357Dejavu Not sure how soon but it will be here when I do. I'm so far behind on content it's not funny!
Informative 👍😊👍
Not sure whats going through someones head to hit that dislike button, cuz man thats a sick round
Projectile sectional density value: All of it.
Nice video. That's a chunk.
i think these monstrosities would go all the way through a frikin elephant, christ
what are yall tryna kill? T rex? wearing kevlar?
lol I do the same thing with Gelato Jars. they are perfecty for reloading
1000gr 45-120???
Did you size the bullets after powder coating???
Yes, they're sized to .459"
This guy has the strongest shoulder of all time
when you hate shooting and need a reason to quit.
Definitely a stout plinking load:) kinda like taco plinking with a 500 s&w mag:) thats an awesome gun. I wanted one but built a .358 socom instead. Thanks for sharing the video!
You're not wrong, taco might have influenced my idea of what constitutes a plinking load haha. I don't intend to use it too often but my shoulder is glad it only took two trips to reach my goal velocity. Thanks for checking it out!
Trail boss (is awesome) with those would make a nice round for back yard critters, quiet too.
Good video. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
600 gr at 1300fps... Time to line up the T-Rex's! Hey, so which powder did you like better with that bullet?
Speaking only in terms of velocity A2015 just isn't as efficient.. It did give complete burn with this bullet at 1050fps for a good sub load, in some of my 300 grain testing it was leaving powder in the chamber. I randomly picked up the 2015 a couple years ago and keep trying to find a good use for it, no luck yet. IMR4198 has outperformed it in all of my testing so far, planning to try it in 308 next week.
Good stuff. Hard to beat a heavy cast bullet for affordable big bore shooting. My 600 grainers are .507 diameter.
What are you shooting that needs a .507? Affordable is a stretch, less than 12 bullets per pound of lead adds up. I need to make a bullet trap soon 😂
@@ibtrippn08 I shoot a Montana Rifle Company DGR in 505 Gibbs. Nothing in Texas requires a 505 Gibbs or a 600 grn cast bullet but there is nothing illegal or unethical about using one. I say that cast bullets are affordable, that is compared to shooting factory ammo or even factory made bullets. Accurate Molds can make a mold for about anything that you can shoulder or holster.
Can't figure out how to post a pic on here or if it is even possible.
It's shooting good see how low of a velocity you can go while it still groups acceptably out at a certain range that bullets so heavy you don't need much velocity go through anything still
If they ever succeed in cloning mammoths or apatosaurs, it's good to know someone's ready.
When that happens I'll send you some, gotta help out a fellow random bald guy!
Thanks for watching!
yep. look what happened on Jurassic park
I saw this and said oh god we are gonna watch this
Appreciate you checking it out!
I wouldn't mind seeing these loaded in a 45/110 fired out of a Sharps. Would probably make a decent long range round
If I ever pick one up, or find someone willing to shoot these in their 45/110 I would gladly supply a few to see that.
Perfect heavy weight round .
You can shoot all day without pulverizing the shoulder .
Where did you get the bullet mold ?

Thank you .
Nice rifle and those rounds are thumpers 👍👍
that's a HOT round right there
Gotta love a lever action.
Watching those big bombs hitting the water behind the target was cool. 600 grains at 1300 FPS is ENOUGH lol😂👍🏻🇺🇸😬
I get a kick out it too, kind of hard to focus on that behind the target while shooting but it's fun to see when I start working with the footage. Yeah i'm not trying to push these anymore, i'm kind of glad this testing is over for now 🤣
I wanted to see the back of the tree
so that's what firing a train carriage from a rifle looks like.
This would be a great prank round
Seems like a good candidate for a good suppressed round. Sub'd
I appreciate it, I need to get back into this stuff some day. If you check out my "big bore suppression" video I used a different load to keep these subsonic.
Man I wanna see these run through a suppressed lever action
Can never be too safe. They cloned a wooly mammoth
What's this good for? Anything behind a tree or in heavy brush.
Load that monster subsonic and put a can on your Marlin. Click...WHACK. Keep in mind that even at subsonic velocities it will still go through a bison lengthwise. Which powder coating product do you use?
The thought has crossed my mind, some day I might be able to bring myself to thread the end of this beautiful rifle 🤣. Some of my powders are from "Smoke4320" on castboolits and the others are from prismatic powders. If you're interested in a specific one I can look it up.
@@ibtrippn08 That's OK, I know who Smoke4320 is and what he sells...it's good stuff. No more messy lube for me.
I genuinely cant tell if the round is penetrating the tree or if the target is just off to the side a bit..... gonna bet the tree
Sorry to disappoint, the target is off to the side :)
Would you consider making these and selling them? I would be interested.
Bro just make your own, you can get a Lee loader set for like 30 bucks.
I enjoyed this.
As you already have a handle on process, you might consider taking the next step and get some good swaging dies. Then you could add a copper jacket or base guard if you want or still make plain lead but the process is faster and even more precise. I had Richard Corbin make mine. And either way I bet your bullets would sell, they are very nice.
Bullet swaging definitely interests me, hopefully some years down the road I can get into it. Thanks for watching!
Great video, I'd be thinking about capturing the lead in a bullet stop to use it again instead of feeding the fish with it. I'll be subsctibing!
Yeah i've had a bullet trap designed for a while now, maybe this will be the year I finally go buy the steel and weld it up. I appreciate it!
Please stop, you're hurting me through the video with the recoil!
