Yachtmaster 40 rhodium purchased at the height of the watch boom for £16k. I mean it was lovely. But it was a time before I actually knew anything about watches. Forget falling out of love with it, I was never in love with it in the first place. Very soon after sold at a loss. Completely reimagined my journey. Own a Grand Seiko Snowflake and Zenith Chronomaster Original A386 and could not be happier. It does change you going through that experience and I’m now planning on building a collection of watches across a few brands over the next few years that I truly understand from a deep horological perspective in terms of heritage, history and prestige. Great episode guys, keep it up!
I feel like I've inserted myself in an addicts' session where you've all had your moments of clarity. Andrew's rolling over with the beer goggles off and seeing the nightmare beside him, hypnotising him like a slow motion car crash decapitation: Zach revealing his shame whilst pitifully going over design details he's desperate to like: Marcus's Shamen "Boss Drum" psychedelic coloured purchases that look like they came from a seedy claw grab game. Brilliant! 😂
I have a penchant for vintage watches gents. My BIGGEST regret was not buying a genuine 1940’s Hanhart chrono many years ago when they were cheap as chips! I look at the stupid prices now & think….🥺 Great episode!👏🏼😎
Shame about your experience with the BB58 Bronze, Andrew. I picked one up on a whim in the NY boutique a couple of years ago. Still love it. It’s not a daily watch for me, so it sits in the safe in between wears and the patina develops less slowly I think. I actually quite enjoy it with some patina (not so much that it looks dirty). And a quick dash of lemon juice brings that shine back if/when needed - feels like you have more than one watch 🙂 Very comfy wear, perfect size for me and a total compliment-magnet. Mine’s a keeper!
"Easy purchase" is spot on, Marcus. My regrey is I bought a couple of Orients because 1) I wanted to try the brand to see how it compares 2) I started a new job and didn’t want to wear my nicest watches when starting So many watches I and I'm sure many of us have purchased that really add up. Just bought a black Snoopy Moonswatch and it could well replace my OG DSoTM. Look forward to the list of watches we didn’t buy and regret selling!!
Really your moonswatch will replace your dsotm ??? Wow now that’s surprising. Thankfully my impulse buying of watches has stopped. Which has aloud so much better watches into the collection. Did you keep your orient watches?
my best buddy gifted me the perfectly useless afternoon Mr. Jones and it is fun and cool! The problem is that the watch hobby is already an expensive rabbit hole but then you can make Mr. Jones, Swatch, Casio/G-Shock another rabbit hole due to how fun and inexpensive they are, and you have to convince yourself you don't need them. I haven't regretted any of my watch purposes, but over time I do find which ones I wear more and wear less. Due to wearing the BB Pro and Tank Must Large less, I traded them in when I got the call for an explorer 36. slightly downsized and upgraded at the same time!
Wow you had a tank must large. What was it that you didn’t like about that one? And I agree. Maybe there is a world where all those very affordable trigger purchases do have a spot in the collection. I have to admit if I’m going somewhere I think is slightly dangerous for watch theft I always dip into the collection and grab something I’m more than fine to loose under bad circumstances.
@marcusflack1523 so i absolutely loved it but over time it felt kind of soulless where I spent nearly 3k USD and it climbed to 3.5k USD and it was quartz. There's something about winding a watch in the morning and setting the time, and also sustaining the life of it throughout the day if it's automatic...and I understand not having that with GSHOCK or even my Tag Formula 1 quartz...but I always wished my tank must large had mechanical movement like the XL or the tank Louis, or even the santos medium. At the end of the day it just felt kinda soulless and I was ready to move it and the pro on for the explorer.
Hamilton Khaki Aviation X Wind Auto Chrono- Bought it because I wanted a Hamilton in the collection and it looked great in RUclips videos. Despite my 7 3/4in wrist it wears very large and has a stiff strap that is uncomfortable. Bought it online without trying it on- Never Again! Will switch out the strap but I am not a pilot and will never use the crosswind calculating bezel so I think my money could have been more wisely used elsewhere...Appreciate the discourse...happy to be a member of the Tribe!
Do you think it’s better to just move it on and get the right Hamilton. After all there are so many great options from the brand and they are getting better all the time. If you did pick another Hamilton what would it be?
Great video fellas. Andrew funny enough I had that Norqain on my wrist yesterday at the AD. I went with a Muhle Glashutte Teutonia IV BlueMoon instead, but I think the Norqain is next on the list.
Now that’s a very classy choice I can see why the noqain is still on the list. A very different place in the collection. Congrats on the new watch day.
This was fun, guys! Keep em coming and keep the tribe growing! And FYI Andrew, really REALLY getting tempted to pull the trigger on the Norqain Wild One. Just can't decide on the color cuz I kinda want them all 😆
Wow did you know about their customisation of the wild ones you can do on their website. Now that’s pretty unique. You could have any color combination you like.
@@marcusflack1523 I just hosted an event with Toby Kuffer in Kuala Lumpur and that One of 1 was one of the key concepts I talked about. It's a revolutionary move by the brand for sure!
Biggest regret was Omega NTTD. Loved the aesthetic, the titanium colour was beautiful matched with the chocolate dial. However, in low light, such as sitting in my lounge, I couldn't read the time. Sold it and moved on. Still look at it on videos, thinking how beautiful, but remind myself how frustrating it was.
Wow I’ve never heard that anecdote. That’s so surprising. But makes sense when you see the lack of contrast. And yeah a diver in my eyes HAS to be legible. At least you would have moved it pretty easy huh?
Hahahahaha. I don’t think I regret my wooden watch as much as these colorful ones. Pretty sure I wore my wood watch many times back in the day. I showed my brother my colorful watches and he said. I’ll take it. Ha. Seems it hits the mark with someone out there. 😂
vintage longines… amazing patina and amazing blued hands, but repairs took ages and the cost of those took out any pleasure out of the whole experience… the only watch I sold without regreting
Petition to rename to T&T Therapy instead of Tribe. As for my regrets, I think there's definitely more I've regretted missing out on than buying, but there's been a couple. Usually I do exactly what Andrew did. Buy the shiny, then get that sick feeling of regret in the pit of my stomach as I'm carting it home. Same deal, I instantly get rid. Also, Marcus, I can totally understand why you felt compelled to buy those bright watches. I get that in retrospect you might regret them, but at the time, I bet you felt like the dog's doodads. Zach, I am a little surprised you've held on to the Candino now you've got the GS, particularly when you traded to the Breguet with so few regrets. Love the content guys, keep at it.
The impulse for me was spotting such in your face color ways. At the time it was a gaping hole in what I owned so it felt perfectly justified. To have something with that much pop. But turned out it was a very very small window of interest before I woke up out of the nightmare. Was also about an impulse buy in Italy of what I saw as an Italian. Brand. Ended up giving both up to a charity shop, to hoep someone at least enjoys them and does not have to pay RP for them. Two I very much regret, early in my watch collection journey
Mr Jones' The Last Laugh. A very cool concept, but just not the same on the wrist. The eyes are mirrored and not black. The watch was big but the time was soo small it was hard to read. Surprisingly though, it is the only watch I have sold for a profit.
My watch regret is fortunately not an expensive one. It is my CasioOak G-Shock. I just never connected with it, adjusting the time is a pain requiring me to look up a how-to video, the lume sucks, the accuracy is so-so. It was a relative impulse purchase and I've worn it maybe 5 times in 2 years. I definitely would like to see future videos on watches you regret NOT buying and watches you regret selling.

That yellow and that green watches look like RM ! My mistake was a Speedy Reduced. Managed to part exchange it for a Speedy Pro 1969 + 1.6K in cash (11 years ago). Happy Ending.
I bought some random integrated bracelet 40mm sports watch. I thought it was nice cause it ticked two boxes for me: Rose gold color and a moon phase. Unfortunately I only saw it online. Once I saw the Dial in person I was very unimpressed. Lesson learned.
