@@cryguy0000 armor is still a decent thing to train early game because armor knight's base defense is 12, which means you're likely to get like 4 or 5 more defense if you promote at level 10
Its super awesome to see you playing Three Houses! Definitely my favorite game that came out in 2019 and still holds up as one of my favorite JRPGs on the Switch!
For me personally, I would've made Hilda learn Flying to become a Wyvern Rider. At least, that's what I did for my Hilda in my first playthrough. Though it wasn't Bows only so maybe it's less viable than I thought. At the very least, Hilda does have a talent in Lances so she could've become a Bow Knight as well.
Also, for future consideration, recruiting Linhardt to help get Leonie the Inexhaustible is a great idea. Inexhaustible is basically a Brave Bow with Recovery, it's fantastic.
I usually consider challenges like this in the same way as nuzlockes in pokemon: The challenge doesn't REALLY start until you get pokeballs, or in Three Houses case, access to your students... So i have tried this challenge with every weapon at this point, and i gotta say, Faith magic is by far the hardest challenge, as spells are very limited, with only Nosferatu being on all characters, and most of the spells have VERY limited uses! Literally only 13 of the 40 playable units even GET a second offensive spell! So if you REALLY want a challenge, try doing a Faith magic only run...
Im glad you did this especially on maddening bc on hard this is kinda close to how you would normally play the game lol. But in maddening bow spam is still super good Hope you do an engage challenge at some point Also I didn't know the enemy could raging storm abuse as well lol
lowkey my first maddening run was like 90% bows and magic w/ magic being the only real difference in chapter 2 bc you will not surprise that map w/o bows to avoid the counter attacks
Ok first congratulation to beat the challenge. However, I must say bow only barely even a challenge. It is the best weapon type in 3H. The easiest solution for bow only just made everyone except Claude, leonie, and cyril a sniper. Sniper had one of the best combat art. All you need just solid str stat or mag stat (mag bow)
Just a tip, in Shambhala the titanus reinforcements can be stopped by opening up a building at the top left of the map and killing a mage that's controlling them
Ah, the discovery of the Magic Bow: The moment you turn all your casters into Snipers and obliterate foes with Hunter's Volley. Additionally, because 3Houses doesn't weapon-lock you based on your class (in some cases. Mages can't use Gauntlets, for instance), you can absolutely class a tanky unit like Raphael into something like War Master/Fortress Knight for Enemy Phase and still complete the challenge.
Now comes the million dollar question: We know it's beatable with bows and axes.... But what about magic? It'd be a cut above most other challenges, as each character's spell repertoire is different to each person.
Bows and fliers are the most broken thing about fe3h. Get a flying mount and maybe bow knight snipe, curve shot, and dead eye everything. And let's not talk about the best gambit ashes to dust with claude's canto....bows tough early game, mid to late game straight broken.
"Finally; and truely; ending the war" Yes; but Byleth uses a sword in that cutscene. So was it worth it? Also dosen't they use a sword to kill Edlegard? I think you have to do Silver Snow for a true Bow only run. I don't recall any cutscene where another weapon is used.
Sword only is EASY. This is because the invincible towers internally attack by briefly spawning a swordsman holding a weapon with 10 range, and this weapon just so happens to be a sword. Thanks to some hackers obtaining this weapon, setting it to be sold to other players and then connecting to the internet, and other players who bought it also setting it to be sold and connecting to the internet, it is fairly easy to find an opportunity to buy this weapon off other players in the monastery by connecting to the internet. It also happens to cost a mere 1 gold because it isn't supposed to be obtainable and thus doesn't have proper price data.

I've actually seen this challenge already can't remember who but it was recently so must just be a coincidence
Yea I saw another guy do this challenge although I will say this variant is much more creative
Maybe it was the ytber poledoo, he tends to do bow only runs for the last couple of games in this series
God-Shattering Star in the beginning filled me with so much nostalgia

Yeah, I was kind of shocked when Edelgard destroyed half my army in a single turn.
I'm guessing it was Barbarian for death blow being the reason you trained Hilda and Raphael in Axes? Or maybe death blow was just on the mind?
No Claude upside down joke? Pathetic
But damn, nice run
(Also swap Lysithea's and Marianne's roles or we are gonna have trouble)

I actually attempted this myself recently but gave up early on
I can understand why. Thise early levels especially were quite punishing.
I figured you were training axes to get them into wyvern rider classes, the free movement would've been useful for hit and run strats
However… can you beat FE3H maddening without ever using bows? I’m not crazy enough to try xD
I did try it with punch only challenge. It was quite fun tho to play around with brawl combat art positioning
