      But they have to be forests. In 2 color, if you already have your shock and basic check in hand or on the field you can't get anything but monogreen unless you're grabbing a tap land anyway. Or a abu dual. I guess.
      I guess Richard WAS playing a 3 color deck so skyshroud claim is better than that in his deck, but the 3 mana to 6 mana scaling is so awesome. It feels so much better to play when you can dump any excess mana in.

    • @JonaxII
      @JonaxII Год назад +1

      Yeah, the worst part is how it can hit creatures, and in multiplayer often correctly hits creatures of a different player than the one drawing cards - so you get punished for playing a creature deck against a black deck and a durdle deck...

  • @Supermanisdeadman
    @Supermanisdeadman Год назад +10

    The decks aren't really matched up well together this week. The 4 creature type strategy that these commanders/precons were built around are a good balance, but when one player is on high-power blue/black control and the rest are casting common and uncommon vampires and pirates, it makes the game uninteresting to watch.

    • @Niuttuc
      @Niuttuc Год назад +7

      Suggestion taken in. The stack pops up on opposite sides of the screen depending on who's casting the first spell or trigger on it or who's turn it is. If it isn't hiding Richard's stack, it'll be hiding Tomer's.

    • @yggdr9sil
      @yggdr9sil Год назад +2

      @@NiuttucHmm, I scrolled back through the video and paid closer attention to where the stack pop-up appears and it *appears* to stay put where you last left it. I think crim’s use of bowmaster is really emblematic of a thing I see from Cedh to edh where people can’t resist the free value of picking off creatures, even if they aren’t just threat to them and could help pressure the mid range or late game stomp decks. I think it makes bowmasters to play against and in the long run lowers the Bowmasters controllers win rate because we’re stuck in one V1 magic mindset of never give up free value. But we wouldn’t snap off swords on a random thing. Obm can still pressure life totals when it’s not hitting creatures.
    I wouldn’t exactly call a misplay, but just a different mindset that I think is costing people wins, especially competitive levels, but maybe in this game as well

    Richard, I have a secret for you if you want to play high MV spells, use the Mercadia Battery Lands (Red has Mercadian Bazaar iirc, only 1 printing and it's a bigot iirc), each colour gets one so you can run 3 and still not use any Fallen Empires ones. I don't count them as lands or true ramp, but I've found a deck can short lands a bit and still play some haymakers if you have some battery ramp. Also, it's way more fun to tap a land for 4 or 5 mana vs tap 5 normal lands to do something. I use 4 total in a Rakdos deck with an average MV well over 4 and with only low 30s for actual lands, some of the most fun games I've had involved be short of lands but having a turn 1 Battery Land to start 'ramping' with. It feels pretty bad in the Strip Mine 'meta', but imagine being able to tell the story of someone wasting a Strip Mine on a land ramp cycle that even Godo decks look askance at, it's practically an achievement when someone tries to 1 for 1 you and your 1 card is something that bad. Anyways, I think you can shave an whole land off for each Battery land, and since you've got Green you can run all those Crop Rotation effects (...it's just the one iirc)!

      @AMageOldAsDirt Год назад +1

      Rhystic study is prisoner's dilemma. It's best for the table if everyone pays, but it's better for each individual person if they don't pay. For example if one person has rhystic study, two people are paying, and one person isn't, the two people paying at a MASSIVE disadvantage compared to the other two players. The only time you should be paying for Rhystic (besides if it doesn't actually cost you any tempo) is if there's a tablewide agreement to always pay. Otherwise by paying you put yourself at a big tempo disadvantage to anyone who doesn't pay.

    I lover how this game can be summed up as:
    Richard: ( does nothing until he wins the game again) then says archeomancers map is cracked because it got 2 lands
    Tomer: (plays archeomancers map and ramps) (tomer realizing he plays mostly black vamps and archeomancers hasn't helped him at all)
    Seth: ( plays the pirate that makes people lose 1/3 of their life twice) is brass cracked?
    Crim (the good guy): (just plays removal to make sure no one surges ahead) (plays the one ring and says I'll die to this and the dinosaurs are going to kill everyone)
    Also Crim: is right about everything

Again, this isn't a strategy to bring back parity or stabilize. It just hands someone (hopefully you) the game.
