Don't you still have to pay the green on that spell you only get 1 colorless less per mage
Where do you take decklist submissions for pauper? I'd love to submit mine.
@FongBot we ask for them in our community tab when we plan on making a video :)
Look, I love you guys to bits. Top notch entertainment all the time. But why post the deckslists in a way that is a nightmare to copy paste?
In the original brother’s war novel, urza and mishra (in their youth) build an ornithopter together. Its a small real sized plane like device that they can fly around on, revolutionizing tocasias archeological strategies and eventually becoming urzas iconic invention as he mass produces them later. However in kaleledesh, its implied the ornithopter is a small children’s toy, soooo its as big as you want it to be ig lol
Isn't that foreshadowed in the flavour text of the revised edition of the ornithopter?
In my ninja deck I have ornithopters with art that looks almost like a person-sized kite with handles for someone to hang from it, like a small glider. I always like to imagine my opponent's creatures as castle guards thinking "huh, that's just a kid's kite - no need to investigate" just before the ninja drops from it.
Fun Fact: Ornithopter has a Wikipedia page. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ornithopter
An Ornithopter is just a machine that flies by flapping it's wings rather than a propeller or jet engine. Real world Ornithopters also vary in size between children's toys and crewed aircraft.
@@olaf7441 lol this is my new cannon
Then I want it to be 10 to the 100000 lightyears from wing to wing.
“J’vais t’attaquer pour un, avec le vol” said he in perfect Canadian french haha
Yeah it caught me off guard, he is from Canada? Haha
@@angryduck1045 Yes, Carl is canadian, but he moved to Berlin.
I think one of my favorite parts of Cardmarkets videos (the Yu-Gi-Oh channel as well) is how clear you all love the games you play. No matter whether its a serious quest for the best deck series or a goofy non-gameplay video yall always show so much genuine joy in what you are doing.
17:01 Thoralf not looking up to see Carl’s magic trick was so sad, that was so smooth
Whatever you do, do not let Carl rule zero Cheatyface into his decks 😂
rule 0 doesn't exist in proper formats
@@Citinited And neither does hiding your counter spells beneath your creatures 😂
@@Citinited "proper formats" ... TIL people like this actually exist.
@@Aurelius2142proper is a stupid term but edh is a non competitive format
@@Citinited you must be the funny one at parties.
"I don't speak french" proceeds to speak french
Boss move
With a very good accent.
@@valeredumont5018I believe I’m not mistaken if I say that Carl is French canadian
@@LordpaylorIt's really possible, I hear someom canadian in the accent.
@@Lordpaylor Yeah I was really surprised, as a french canadian myself that absolutely sounded like one of my people xD
@@Lordpaylor i'm French and i do find that his french accent was kinda off, so yeah, i agree
11:36 - You payed 2 for Alchemist, ignoring the discount. If you had that extra green, you’d be able to cast the Manamorphose you exiled later that turn and keep going.
Aso, if he untapped the Alchemist properly due to wrenn's resolve being an instant or sorcery, he could've done the same thing. Thoralf had at least 5 more looks at a card to see if he could draw an out.
Carl's move at 18:47, so slick, so swift, so ninja
Fun fact Caaaaarl,
I'm from Verona where the "Romeo and Juliet" novel and story is based around.
They both come from the same city, they were just in different families
Yes but they were in different cities near the end of the story which led to their deaths
So you're a Gentleman from Verona?
Then even in the same city, that Faerie Seer and Goblin Anarchomancer did not get to make their love flourish 🥲 thanks for the correction though 😅
The random ninjas appearing out of nowhere was hilarious. Also, yes, watch out for Cheatyface. Carl has proven too sneaky to be trusted!
Ninjas and Sprout Swarm in the same Cardmarket video? We are eating good today.
The scry animation was great! Your editing skills are phenomenal now!
13:54 "Unfortunately I don't speak french" - Carl, 2024, starts speaking perfecty french. That's a power move right there.
"I question an ornithopter carrying a ninja"
Sekiro- "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH" - You died
Ninjas are my favourite theme in Magic. Neon Dunasty was the set that got me seriously into the game after almost 15 years of just theoretical interest and dabbling from time to time. And it was all because of the ninjas and artifacts.
Carl speaking french feels so cursed
Well, he is French Canadian after all, soooo
Whaaaat Yoonns, c'est donc ainsi qu'il s'est rafler son sponso cardmarket... :o
WOOHOOO A NEW CARDMARKET VIDEO!! Already loving this, the energy y’all bring is infectious!
U seem euthanastic
I hope you enjoy this one 🥳
Thoralf has the most adorable ant sound effects I've ever heard 🥹
What does an ant sound like?
The whole conversation about infinite ants vs a bird got me rolling 🤣
5:00 that “YEA” sound really caught me off guard, who even was that 🤣 sounded like if you stumbled upon someone who’s been lost in the desert for 5 days and you asked if they wanted some water
At 9:06 Thoralf missed the win, he could’ve played both thermo alchemists and a nettle sentinel instead of another anarchomancer and then gone infinite with sprout swarm
I think he didn’t realize thermo alchemist also got reduced, since on his last turn he taps 2 red for the alchemist with 3 anarchomancers on board
Tbf, he had a land he shouldn’t have from the geomancers gambit at 7:23. He didn’t blow up one of his lands to get the land he fetched like he was supposed to do it works itself out in the end.
@@Ninguin he targeted his indestructible land, so the land stays and he still gets to ramp another basic, gambit and wildfire don’t need to destroy the land to fetch the new one, which is the whole point of playing the indestructible lands with those cards
@@NinguinHe blew up his indestructible land. It just didn't die
@@Ninguin Judge here, these decks play the indestructible tap lands like the Silverbluff Bridge Thoralf played turn one specifically to get around that. He targets an indestructible land, it isn't destroyed but the rest of the spell still resolves as normal.
I love watching these two play magic. It reminds me of playing 1v1 with my best friend as a kid and just vibing.
The face of Thoralf reading the smoke shroud is why I make pauper decks 😂
The first deck I ever built was a ninja deck and I distinctly remember teaching my friends to fear ornithopter hahaha
You both had too much fun!!! This kind of creativity is what makes a great game so much more exciting! Keep it up!
Thabk you :D I'm really happy that you enjoyed the video!
"J'vais t'attaquer pour 1 dans l'air, avec le vol" J'ai ressenti ça dans mon âme 😮
14:25 I like how even in Europe, they do the "the opposite side of the world is China" bit.
It's more exciting than the middle of the ocean
@@thenumberpie314depends where you are i guess, opposite of spain is australia
Australia is normally the reference point in the UK at least, although the reality is that the exact opposite would be closer to New Zealand (and would be in the water)
China is just that big
The first mention I've seen of Ornithopters is in the Dune series. In the series the Ornithopters are planes that can be configured to be big enough to carry light cargo in addition to several passangers.
1:10 Ooh, finally an animation for scry - that was the last thing I was missing in the otherwise great overlays/card information here :)
Cardmarket makes the best pauper videos on the internet!
thoralf: "you're not being that sneaky"
carl: *throws card at jugular*
Game 2 at 17:15 Thoralf plays a Goblin Anarchomancer and attacks with it that same turn, dealing 2 damage. As things played out, those 2 points damage leads to him winning that game
yeah... lots of misplays that game too lol
Carl's french was impeccable.
He's a native speaker :P
A mono blue ninja deck won a recent pauper event near me in London with 50+ players. I played against it one round and i just didn't really understand how all these tiny creatures were beating me down. By the time i had worked it out i was dead!
Seeing this channel blossom to what it’s become has been amazing, keep up the good work I love the cardmarket crew ❤
Thank you :) I'm happy you enjoy our content! We put so much love into it!
12:45 not that it would have mattered really but Thoralf has infinite tapped saprolings. If he had played the nettle sentinel for that one green instead of the sprout swarm, they would all be untapped, since both the alchemist and the sentinel would untap and be able to fully repay the convoke cost. Of course this is just componding the misplay 3 and a half minutes earlier where he could have generated infintie tapped saprolings when he was still at 6 life, ending up with 2 untapped Thermo Alchemists, an untapped Nettle Sentinel, and the final saproling for blockers allowing him to swing for game the next turn.
I'm surprised Impact Tremors doesn't make more of the decklists like Sprout or Gobbos.
I think for Goblins is because you want a higher mass of creatures to commit to the board as well as getting lethal damage with something like Goblin Grenade. I wouldn't know for Sprout Swarm as I am far less familiar with that deck as a whole. My best guess is not enough space.
@@FoggyMemoryProductions You're right, I guess I should have said for more token-based strategies. : )
Lovely decks, great video!
You guys just keep on delivering, well done.
Thank you :) we try our very best!
Carl, with the sneaky negate, I was so hype for it. Awesome games guys.
idk why but I wasnt expecting the french out of carl, that tickled the brain nicely
15:21
"But it doesn't cost anything!'
"No, it costs *nothing*"
Carl really did a Ridin' Dirty reference...
I love sprout swarm! That's an unusual deck to see and it brought a smile to my face
Oh heck yeah, keep the Pauper content flowing! :D
What's better than learning deck tech? learning deck tech AND Magic's history.
I applaud you, Carl! That was some fun Ninja trickery with all those hidden hards and tokens! XD
Thank you 😃
That swarm deck is really cool! Definitely gonna build it!
4:21 amazing
Cest vraiment impressionnant as a french canadian myself d'entendre Carl parler français!!! Hello from Sherbrooke!
Bonjour de Berlin! 👋 c'est beau Sherbrooke
Nice to see a good old gameplay vid like the old days. Sometimes simple is best 👍
From 14:02 im pretty sure carl is from Quebec :)
Im sure that confused a lot of french speaking viewers hahaha
Sounds like it... From a québécois.
Bien entendu :)
Y'all always release great content but this was truly one of the BEST!! 🔥
Sprout Swarm? One of my favorite cards of all time? Love it!!!
Carl speaking parfait quebecois is always scary surprising. I love it so much.
Je m'attendais sincèrement pas à entendre Carl parler en français dans la vidéo ! XD
Le bon accent Canadien :D
Un jour une chêne yourube francophone m'invitera a jouer et ça me fera un des plus gros plaisirs 😄
The disgust behind 'I hit you for one. I'm winning the game right now' us so real at kitchen table games.
Fantastic sleight of hand Carl! Just an extra flourish on an already epic video 😁
Great to see more paper gameplay videos. Always my favourite content on the channel.
17:57 that goblin has summoning sickness so carl should have won match 2
This video made me realize that my old modern ninja deck is almost wholly pauper legal. Gonna try it on next pauper FNM.
Waaah I didnt even know that Carl was Canadian xD ! I was so surprised to hear him speaking Quebecois xD !
carl's ninja bit is hilarious
I love watching these videos.
I would just love to hang out with these guys all the time lol
Pauper gameplay!!! infinite ants, infinite fun :D great stuff as always!
These videos are so much fun even for a primary commander player.
when carl stacked a bunch of dices i just stopped moving cuz i thought it would fall lmao
and omg carl speaking french hits different (where is he from?)
Bin viel zu spät zur Party, aber
PAUPER CONTENT! SEHR GEIL
17:57 Toralf attacks with his Goblin Anarchomancer even though it had summoning sickness!
I like the new scry animation
Pauper decks always make for the most interesting videos, except maybe the best deck in modern series because seeing 12 post do its thing was wild
14:00 ca fesait longtemp que j'attendais l'accent quebs
Good song choice! Droid Bishop is awesome.
this could be really good series with low cost and interesting decks
Loved the video, though I'm surprised to see no sideboard interview. I find those pretty interesting.
The magic tricks were awesome, though.
I cut out the sideboarding in the more casual matches because most people just skip over that part of the video
@CardmarketMagic I understand. Just a mite disappointing, especially with how Thoralf struggled in game 1. I would have loved to see his thoughts moving into game 2 and trying to adjust to the Ninja game plan.
Woohoo! Gameplay video! 🎉🎉🎉 I miss the high rolls though...
We stopped rolling on camera because we saw in the retention graph that many viewers were skipping them
@@CardmarketMagic Your reactions to them were funny. Damn many viewers.
I love Pauper
This Sproutswarm deck is so cool 😮
Love the Pauper content!!
I was rooting for the Ninjas, and I'm glad they came through!
14:02 From a French viewer, this was very very disturbing, I've checked 3 times that youtube doesnt have a magical voice translate option
WAIIIT thats a quebec accent no?
@@Charles_Thiboutot-Lessard I'm looking in the comment to find an answer but it sure sound like it
I'm pretty Carl has mentioned before that he's from Quebec
Yes it is ^^@@Charles_Thiboutot-Lessard
@@Charles_Thiboutot-Lessard It totally is the quebec accent (I'm french, I can tell this isn't my accent 😂)
I really love this channel! Your games are so fun to watch!
I'm happy you enjoy them :) we have a lot of fun playing them
A NEW PAUPER VEEDJEO! Love you both. Hope you’re both doing well. Carl and Thoralf are my MTG heroes.
We are doing well :) hope you enjoyed this one! Maybe see you at a paupergeddon one day :D
Omg as a canadian french speaker it felt so weird hearing carl speak french felt weird. Still love it should do it more often!
Bonjour de Berlin! 👋
That first game was art
more fun pauper deck games!
Just noticed droid bishop's track playing midway. Would be nice to have a tracklist somewhere in the video/description!
Toffel saying his favourite part of Magic is math. Somewhere, Frank Karsten takes notice.
I was not expecting perfect French from Carl
Oof 17:57 Thoralf did a cheeky cheat attack
Poor Toffel having to play magic against a literal magical forest sprite.
This felt refreshing
Love the pauper content.
Je n’étais pas prêt à entendre Carl parler en français. Salut de Montréal!
Bonjour de Berlin 👋 bien que moi aussi je viens du 514 :)
The thermo alchemists get a 1 mana discount. It isn’t just for instants and sorceries
Dangit now i have wanna build thes decks. I knew about indestructible lands and the duality of the X-mancers, but never put two and two together.
I really like the Sprout Swarm deck!
I played pauper a couple hours ago on cockatrice with a friend.
Free program with the card images no tiggers but all the cards
Your french voice is so good and funny Carl ahah🎉🎉
I'd love to see you guys play my skeleton tribal EDH deck. I've spent a few years trying to make skeletons good in commander and I'm curious what kind of feedback you guys would have.
