    We were out there in the late 90s. No way. lol I walked up the first bit & even that is a little unnerving. There are shorter climbs that are as steep & my truck could do them so I know my rig was capable but it's so long & there is no place to bail. It's a real mind trip. You have some serious balls. Thx for posting this. It lets me see the view I chickened out on. :)

    Thanks for the information JeepWheeler.
    Truly incredible machines, and I am glad to own one - even though it is a stripped down base version.
    I read that the Lion's Back is no longer accessible to off-roaders. I guess the State of Utah heard enough from the law tort folks and the ecologists perhaps. Anyway, it's a wicked piece of geography to test one's machine and one's nerves on.
    Cheers! Have Jeep - will travel

    Good job Driving, I believe it was closed because of the potential danger, (litigation)
    because of popularity a lot of inexperienced drivers made attempts, damage to the actual rock (notice tire marks at the bottom) The person driving in this Vid did an excellent job of driving this is the type of driver that respects safety, and the environment.

    I remember when they Lions Back shown on a tv show many years ago where they showed somebody first driving up it to the top with no problem but after they they turned around, they started to come down when all of a sudden their brakes went out on their vehicle and it started gaining speed, started bouncing actually leaving the ground on a couple of bounces then when it reached the bottom, the vehicle went nose first right into the ground and onto its roof, all were ok, if I remember so....

      Better not. If you're coming for this, it's a waste of time. Lions back is now on private property, and the owner doesn't want the liability of letting anyone go up and down it.

    • @kevinrogers7847
      @kevinrogers7847 9 лет назад

      Chris Wilson I was there last week. I was told by a Deputy that the owner is going to build condos on top of the ridge overlooking it. What a shame.

    • @MrFredboy
      @MrFredboy 9 лет назад +1

      Kevin Rogers wouldn't surprise me. People are doing all sorts of crazy shit with the best OHV trails, the ones that have closed down. Rather dump millions to build condos than earn millions by opening the trails back up, charging admission and making people sign a release of liability so their asses are covered. Makes no sense to me, but I guess some just don't understand the solitude and gratification of wheeling on trails like these.

    You don't need the brakes in a Land Rover if it's a manual gearbox. Just stick it in low ratio and it will come down slower than walking speed - just keep your feet well away from the pedals!!!
