I'm not telling a fish story but back in the early 90's I climbed Lion's Back at night in a stock 92 Nissan P/U with a 4 popper and a 5 speed not knowing what I was going up because my girlfriends brother who happened to live there took me there after I told him I wanted to go wheeling after we had a few beers. It took me 3 or 4 tries at the base to get going.... when I did get going I sobered up knowing there was no turning around until I got to the top. But I did it and glad to say that I did.

I am turning 52 yrs old this year. The stupid things I did in my jeep 10 years ago scare the hell out of me now.

@@jeffkaupke3890 Outstanding! After doing stupid stuff in the USAF for 20+ years and Jeep jeeping for as many, I like a nice trail ride now. I still want to jump out of an airplane though. Not dead yet :-)

Awesome. No Fear. Maximum compression, no brakes. So that is how it's done!

I thought it's vaccuum braking...I thought compression brake is only from diesel engine not petrol...

I agree with you, blazer6248. In the old days, the owner charged a couple bucks to let people drive up. Fair enough deal, its his land. All off-roaders (and everyone else, for that matter) need to RESPECT PRIVATE PROPERTY.

Yes it would. I have done some wheeling at Moab in the rain, and the "slickrock" provides surprisingly good traction even when wet.

Went there a year ago but was closed for traffic. Maybe too many accidents happened in the past, it looks really challenging and hairy for the most of it. I guess it is worth driving but cannot anymore.

It might be LESS scary at nght, because you wouldn't have to look at the cliffs on either side of the track.
The Lions Back is on private property, the owner has fenced off the whole area; the rumor was that he is building condos on that property. I haven't been there for 2 years or more, so I'm not sure what the current situation is.

I am bummed I never got a chance to drive this when it was open. I would do it now with the truck I currently drive but alas it is closed. To bad the rig I drove back when it was open was such a pile and I could not trust it enough for the attempt.

Well I guess we could go back to street racing and risking innocent people on the roads. Or for kicks the ol game of chicken with a semi was a real rush !
