- Two nurses and their tour guide driver were killed after their Jeep plunged over a cliff along Camp Bird Road in the Colorado mountains. Arizona tourists Diana Robles, Ofelia Figueroa-Perez and their driver, Don Fehd, were all killed when their 2022 Jeep plunged 100 feet off a cliff. The 28-year-old and her aunt were both dedicated nurses from Yuma. Before the crash, Robles took a picture of the iconic Imogene Pass.
If I were a passenger, I would honestly get out of the car and walk behind it. Just watching this video gave me the shivers.
Agree. No way I’d want to be reliant on mechanical things there. Not even a bicycle. Walk and that’s it.
Clever idea.
Damn right. I can't believe neither of the ladies did that because that would have been the first thing I did as soon as I saw how narrow those trails got... Gonna take us a couple hours longer but that's just fine.
Same. Why drive on that? I don't understand. You can control your legs...the car is another story entirely.
Absoulutely...my first thought also
I’ve always absolutely hated driving on mountain roads, even fully paved ones with guard rails, for fear of this exact thing happening. Nightmare scenario.
@@SUPERNOVA0360 *really bruh*
We live on mountains back home and the way people drive like theyre not on the edge of a cliff is scary af. One of my grandads workers was driving right near our house served off the cliff. The only thing that saved him was a tree that caught the back of his tractor
I agree, I feel the same way, even with pavement and guardrails I'm still terrified. No way I would do what these ladies did, couldn't pay me enough. Gotta get that picture though.

Having grown up in a Colorado mountain town, the roads here can be a nightmare-especially in the winter. We never had a road this extreme where I was, but I’ve seen cars plunge off major highways like 285 & C470 into the abyss below. May God comfort the families of those lost in this tragedy. 😞
Very true, I used to live in Washington but moved south east through mountains. I went in winter, and oh boy, I just hope the trucks in front of us didn't go off the Mountains. Or we would too.

I almost fell off a section just like this driving in Colorado.... I came within a few short inches of going off, definitely learnt to respect such trails after that and never approached things with such disregard again as prior to that I was just too overly confident for having done so numerous times, but things can always go wrong no matter how many times you've been on the said trail!
When I was a kid my family was on those roads in Colorado. Back then there were plaques saying who had died in a horse and buggy going over each stretch of road. No guard rails back when we were on it.
This is good advice for all those young and old. Experience teaches us the most. Unfortunately alot of people will never learn from your mistake bc they think it won't happen to them. But ill heed your warning.
Maybe it was a mistake the tour guide did but didn't survive it.
I drove something similar in some mountains east of SLC. Very slowly and cautiously, never again, that was nuts! In a 2w drive toyota pickup.
!! The entire road is a few inches of going off!!
In 1986 I drove this road in a 1976 Plymouth Volare, all the way to the Wright Lake trailhead to climb Mt. Sneffels. The worst part was the next day, when my brakes started to smoke on the way down. Volare, woah woah.
oh is that what the dean martin song is about.
My partner and I went on a tour with Don Fehd a few years ago up in the same area. He was a very good driver and a very nice, nature-loving man. I cannot imagine him making a rookie mistake due to all his experience. I can't help but wonder if a boulder fell or part of the road gave way causing this tragic accident. We had a road in NC that was and likely still is like this. One morning an elementary school bus was driving along. It was raining. A dump truck loaded with gravel was flying the other direction. The training for the bus driver was to pull safely to the side and let the other vehicle pass. The driver could not see the side of the road clearly in the rain. A tire dropped off the dirt road. Then the whole bus rolled down the ravine. Helicopters from Charlotte came to rescue the children and the driver. There were no fatalities. The driver was found to have followed her training. She recovered and returned to continue driving the bus. I learned about this when I was at the bus garage for new drivers training. The wreckage of the bus was towed in. It was a harrowing sight. I was assigned to the same elementary school where to my surprise this had happened. The driver I talked to said that this was her bus. She told me her story that I just shared with you.

Condolences to all those that mourn the losses. Years ago, over the course of a few years, the wife and I traversed this road in rented Jeeps, as well as our own 4WD Blazer we had at the time. (I was driving.) There was never any life threatening drama during the entirety of the trips. You take your time and be very careful. It will never be known what conditions that led to this tragedy. (It was NOT through lack of experience on the part of the driver.) However, closing off such roads "for the safety of others" is doing a disservice to those of us that enjoy experiencing the mountains in such a manner. If you're uncomfortable with such exploration upon roads such as these: Simply stay off them, but please don't try to impose your concern on others and thus prevent them from safely enjoying such historic roads.
Agreed. They shouldn't restrict access to protect us from ourselves. Stuff happens. The only problem I see is spending public money to extract the vehicles and bodies. Maybe just leave it all down there unless the victims families pay for it or someone volunteers.
There's nothing that road leads to that I would ever need. So sorry for the victims. RIP

My family (from FL) took a trip west around Christmas time many years ago. We were driving in the mountains (paved road) and hit some ice going around a corner. There was no railing and a massive cliff, we slid right towards it and thankfully the other lane was empty. Florida has mountain roads as well. It's about which part you live in
This!!! Yes, I will stay in Florida, thank you!!!
I went off 150 ft cliff in the Colorado Rockies during our Bicentennial, the driver had been drinking! The car rolled down 100 ft at an 80° angle and the last 50 ft a mid-air spin the last 50ft! A girl went out the back window and the car landed on top of her! Two of us pick the car up and a third one pulled the girl out from underneath and we all walked away! True story, Evergreen Colorado Fourth of July 1976!
Insanely lucky to tell the tale.
How can one soak up the sights and breathe in fresh air aboard a vehicle that teeters on the edge of a cliff? May the victims of this accident rest in peace.
They would have been safer walking it! I would be too paranoid to unnecessarily risk my life like anyone who has used those roads!
Indeed. Not even on a dirt bike or bicycle. I might consider hiking it though.
Reminds me of when I was 18 and in a rocky relationship of 2 years. We were going on vacation and my gf told me she knew a shortcut. I agreed, she knew I was terrified of heights and sent us on a road exactly like this that was impossible to turn around and a 1000 foot cliff, I had a damn mini truck at the time. After we barely survived I turned around took her home and never talked to her again.

I was on a school bus on Rim of the World Highway in the San Bernardino mountains back in the mid 70s and I watched a motorcycle fly off of a cliff like this. A yellow dodge charger and the motorcycle rider were racing or road raging. You could hear the car punch it and accelerate and it passed the bus on the left but the motorcycle guy tried to pass the bus on the right but there was no room on the shoulder. As the charger came around the left side I saw the motorcycle try to pass on the right and he flew off the cliff and flew a thousand feed down into the valley below. The bus and a few cars stopped and the bus driver used his CB radio to call for help. It was probably the most insane thing I've ever seen. Driving Haleakala Hwy on a foggy day with 20-40 feet visibility was the scariest experience in my life. It took hours and a million prayers. Thank God we made it.
Sometimes it’s best to admire things from afar prayers to the family.
Driver took "Off Road" to that Jeep's limit
Richie from Boston it’s great to see you. Keep up the good work hello from San Diego.
While life is exciting, you don’t do things like this.
Exactly, what is wrong with people.
Have you never driven on a highway? Way more dangerous than this.
My deepest sympathies for the three people who didn't make it on the cliff.
It only takes one second of being distracted on a road like that. Very sad.
Exactly why i wouldnt go on these roads, also its currentoy sept 16. Almost 1 year after this incident, may the 3 people rest in peace
That's truly heartbreaking sending love and prayers to their families may they rest in peace 🕊️
So sad. Absolutely would NEVER try to drive that. I dont care how beautiful and amazing the scenery is, I'll watch it on youtube.
I mean... or you could just take the tour from the bottom of the canyon instead of the cliffs above.. 🤔
@@amber619pop a rock would probably fall on my head 🤕 😂
How did they fall off? Driver error, road hazard, weather conditions?
More like, probably one of the scariest things I will NEVER do.
When you test fate, sometimes fate answers. Just saying....
I agree
I don't know about this area, but a Sunday drive using Google maps could take you to some very dangerous locations, not to mention get you lost in some horrendous locations if you aren't aware/careful enough. Some people definitely seek these situations out though.😔 Either way, RIP.
WHY do people even drive such a road KNOWING that at any time there could be another vehicle coming the opposite direction?!?! Then do they play “chicken” to see who’s gonna back up first? I wouldn’t want to back up even a foot on such a road, let alone the WHOLE ENTIRE ROAD! What do they do? It doesn’t look like they have any shoulders wide enough to permit a turn around or to permit another vehicle to pass! This just looks like one of those insane roads in China or India up in THEIR mountains!
As a Coloradoan, I can tell you that this exact road you're seeing is different from other mountain roads. It's a side-road, some off beaten path that's narrower and less used than most. I don't know why they'd even traverse it.
Totally heartbreaking. Just two women out enjoying life, and then it all ended. Very very sad.
"Tour Guide" driver? Sympathy. BIG time lawsuit.
