it still boggles my mind that some people are still saying "it's still a crap Hyundai"... There is very low chance that you've driven more cars than Alex and he has always been objective and honest. Thanks Alex! What a gorgeous car inside and out.
They're talking about build quality, reliability, and the well-documented poor customer service from the Hyundai dealers. Alex is addressing current design and layout.
As usual Alex gives a great objective review. As a 11 years retired 31 year veteran Mercedes/Porsche Sales/Sale Manager & MB S Class owner the Genesis is so much more car for so much less $$$$$. I bought my 2016 Hyundai Genesis H Trac sedan ( if it was a 2017 it would be a Genesis G80 ) 5 years ago & its been trouble free , so quiet & comfortable & economical to maintain. I will NEVER go back to a Mercedes. Currently on the look out for a newer used G80 or 90 that I would like but don't really need. I would also love this new G90 if I could justify the depreciation on any new luxury car.
Keep driving that paid off one until they release the full electric one. At that point the internal combustion engine one will drop in price and you can get it. I'm waiting patiently still pushing my 99 maxima 😏.
I've had a Genesis for over 2 years now. I never had to go to the dealership. I call in to make an appointment and they bring me a loaner Genesis then take my car for service. But I like driving so I drive there anyways and pick up the loaner myself. It's all free. They always give me some courtesy stuffs... like Starbucks.. or some Genesis branded this and that whenever I get a service. Yes, it's a branch of the Hyundai dealership it shares the shop with but they really try to differentiate. As soon as I mention "Genesis" I get transferred to a Genesis representative. I have a G70 which is the cheapest model (although it's a fully loaded model) I still get the whole treatment. It's very nice.
I purchased my 2019 Genesis G70, April 2019. So far, I have over 98K miles on it. My dealership has a dedicated Genesis service rep. I only deal with her when dropping my vehicle off for service. I have a few more years to go until I retire. That's when I'm purchasing a Genesis EV. I love ❤️ what Genesis is doing! This G90 is gorgeous! I'm not a snob ,I don't mind taking my Genesis G70 to a dealership that has Hyundai vehicles on the lot. According to my dealership , they should have their stand alone Genesis dealership ready sometime this year.
I’m fed up with people criticizing Hyundai, Genesis and Kia. I’m 58 yrs old and remember the poor quality of the initial offerings from Toyota, Nissan and Honda. Yes, they improved in time, just as Hyundai and Kia have. I drive a Kia Stinger and I love it. I never get tired of looking at it and would buy another one in a heartbeat. People should give credit where credit is due.
Exactly. I own a top trim 2016 Tucson, and it's fairly nice for the price. I sat in their new gen and despite the touch-sensitive controls, that interior really took a leap. It looks really nice, almost near-luxury looking. Some materials can be improved, but the manufacturer's determined price points are strictly followed.
We put our money where our mouths were and bought a GV80 and GV70. We cannot be happier, our dealerships has assigned service reps that when we need service we call them directly and usually within a day they drop off a G80. Dealership experience has been excellent since the only time we had to go there was to purchase and they even wanted to bring us the car for an at home test drive. When you have something to prove you put your best foot forward and that’s what they are doing.
@@stacyhackney6100 you getting a better mileage won't make any difference compared to gigantic factories in India or China or any 3rd world country. The world is slightly bigger than US, just FYI.
I don't like SUVs all that much, but if I got one the GV70 looks really interesting! I love that interior and wish they could just clone it into the G70
Alex, you are hands down the best car reviewer on RUclips, but like many other reviewers, you downplay the difference in the price to feature ratio between the S class and the G90, not to mention the disparity in warranty coverage. First of all, the bare-bones base S 500 4 Matic is $14k more ($114,500) than a fully loaded G90 ($100,500), not $10,000 as you say in the video. An S Class equipped with approximately the same features as the G90 eSC will cost you at least $150,000. Also consider that the S class comes with a 4 year/50000 mile basic, and 4 year/50000 mile powertrain warranty versus the Genesis's 5 year/ 60000 mile basic, 10 year/100000 mile powertrain warranty. The Germans love to nickle and dime you to death for luxury and convenience options, and their clientele is willing and able to fork over that kind of money for the prestige of owning a Mercedes Benz S Class. For those with filet mignon tastes and a top sirloin budget, a new 2023 G90 is a no-brainer. For those of us with filet mignon tastes and a hamburger budget, the trick is to wait 2 or 3 years, let depreciation do it's magic, and buy a Certified Pre-owned '23 G90 with 20k-30k miles on the clock for about half of its cost when new. The CPO program tacks an additional 12 months and 15,000 miles on to the standard 5 year/60,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, and extends the powertrain warranty back to 10 years/100,000 miles (normally the second owner of a Genesis gets a 5 year/60,000 mile powertrain warranty). So you will have a used car with a bumper-to-bumper warranty equivalent to many manfacturers' new car warranties, and a powertrain warranty that surpasses most. This is how I purchased my 2018 G90 3.3TT AWD ($71,825 MSRP) with 23000 miles on it for $37300 in 2021 and had 38 months/51000 miles B2B warranty and 84 months/ 77,000 miles powertrain warranty remaining. And it's how I plan on purchasing a '23 G90 in a few years to replace it.
I just traded in my great 2018 G90 3.3TT AWD 78k miles for a dealers company 10K miles 2023 Genesis G90 loaded E-Supercharger model (BTW this is my 3rd genesis and also a K900.) $60k out the door. WOW ....we still love our Genesis's.
I agree. I think that in all of my years of reading and then later videos Alex’s level of automotive journalism is at a standard that I only once saw paralleled by Csaba Csere who once wrote for then later served as editor of Car & Driver.
I agree about Alex certainly being tops, and maybe the best. So many other car reviewers are almost aggressive, in-your-face, _'let's see how many stupid antics we can pull to keep viewers in awe of us'._ And therein is the problem---other reviewers put most of their effort into the *_'look at ME'_* factor, rather than giving us a thorough, informative look at the car.
Hyundai-Kia is a wild company. I've recommended sub-10k Kia Fortes to several people and 50k G70s to others. Really taking on Japan and Germany at their own games. Great review as always.
**the sound the door makes when it closes**. SHOTS FIRED!!🤣 **Redline Reviews/Sofyan is not gonna like that!🤣 It MUST have the "German" solid "thunk" when it closes or it is poor quality...allegedly. Of this Genesis, I like that there is no derivation in the design. It is purely a build over the previous-generation, just thoroughly modern. I liken it to a "stealth wealth" vehicle. There are quite a few wealthy folks that don't care about nameplate or ostentatious styling.
If it was for Sofyan, it may be used for fun (?) Sofyan and Alex appear to be friends offline , or at least it appeared that way from some videos where they cross presented for the respective channels.
I like them too, particularly that they each have a 'button function'. But what do you think about the specific functions Genesis has chosen? To me, I think I'd prefer something that I need to adjust/change more frequently than, say, the dash brightness. Though, at the moment I can't come up with which function I'd prefer🤔.
@@be5952 I feel like it's there mainly for the symmetrical design and to avoid the cheap slapped on screen look that most cars went with recently. In a way I like that they put features that you don't use often because it's an area your hands wouldn't naturally go to anyway. I feel like it would have to be something you wouldn't often use while driving, like maybe the up/down air suspension control
@@be5952 I agree. I'd like one of those buttons for an interior overhead light, as I tend to find myself looking for a fast way to light up the interior at nighttime for any number of reasons. I can never remember the pattern of about nine buttons in the overhead console of my Mercedes. While at least three of those buttons are for lighting, too many times I've hit the dagnabbitt S.O.S. button. Then I scramble trying to recall how to hang up on that. I would just open the door, but I'm generally driving miles away from anything out in deeply wooded country areas, so it's creepy being stopped and opening a door.
@1:40 "some people obsessed with the sound the door makes" and my minds playing someone' favorite line "the door makes a solid thunk when you close it" LOLLLLL
Good review. I've driven a 2021 LS500 and a 2022 G90. G90 much better value and better ride (if you like road feel). I can't think of any Genesis model I wouldn't want to own when compared to a comparable Lexus. Genesis is today what Lexus was in the 1990s: Value.
That's sweet. I'm a diehard Audi driver, but I see nothing wrong with craving a Genesis. Everyone I've been in has seemed to punch above it's weight. I think they really do luxury well. My dream is still the RS7 though, My current car is an A5, but the 7 line is just the End Game for me.
This car is amazing in almost every aspect! I recently surprised my wife with the 2024 E Supercharged in Makalu Gray with the all white interior. This is our 5th Genesis vehicle and her 2nd G90, which is a 2021 5.0. In silver with the taupe interior. My wife says the 2024 is only missing the 5.0 8 cylinder. If she wants more acceleration, she just jumps in her 2022 C8 Corvette LT2 Z51. Remember, a happy wife is a blessing!😇
I think the dashboard wings are necessary since they make it stand out and they utilized the wings in a good way. If they werent there, it would look just like all the other kias, hyundais, mercs, with wide screens that dont cost much anymore
I love this style G90. I think the new S Class lost a lot of it’s exterior style. Too bad you can’t get the huge discounts prior to Chip shortage. The depreciation is likely to be bad on this but a low mileage 2 or 3 year old model might be a lot more affordable. I fell in love with the G80 when it came out. I was so Happy Genesis found it’s way.
Re: your thoughts about *depreciation.* You think it'll *depreciate fast?* Could be, but it seems the reasons the expensive German / Italian / British cars depreciate so fast is because of their *poor reliability quality.* When used buyers are faced with almost guaranteed overpriced (and sooner than should be) repairs, of course the cars' used prices reflect that. With them you do get that 'premium brand' cachet all the way until they go to their eventual scrapyards. And Genesis is still establishing itself, reputation wise, with the buying public. With Genesis's reliability (from what I've heard, read and experienced with a friend's car) maybe they won't depreciate like the competition? But as alluded to above, so far you don't get quite that _"...oooo....a Mercedes!"_ 'snob factor'.
I expect it to depreciate at a similar rate to any $100k car. However, it won't depreciate by as much as a similar car you'd buy for $150k+. When I bought my G90 Ultimate, there were similar year S classes which were worth more, despite not being optioned out, and they had lost $80k-$100k from their original price! I can sleep well knowing mine could go to $0 and I still wouldn't be down nearly that much. If you look up 7 series BMWs for example, something like a 750Li is down 90%, or about $140k from new (in Canada). A 10 year old Equus is down around 75%, or ~$70k. I'm sure the G90 will depreciate like any high end luxury car, but when you're starting at $30k-$50k lower compared to similar cars, you won't lose as much money.
To be honest, I was happy they found their way as well. I owned a 2012 Hyundai Genesis. Owning that car, even though it was an early attempt, I was convinced that Hyundai group could do full blown luxury!!! My 2012 Genesis was my favorite car under my Acura Legend, but of course they're different beasts
@@be5952 Jeep frequently ranks bottom on reliablity yet wrangler always tops the list of least depreciating vehicle in the US. Ferrari costs more to repair than most other cars, and it does go bad quite often as any italian cars would, yet it appreciates. Obviously reliability is only part of the equation
I bought a Genesis GV80 three months ago and could not be happier. Every time I compare it with neighbors' top trim Germans and Japanese I find the interior is far superior in the GV80 in terms of fit, finish, features and content. Paying more for the Germans or Japanese is just dumb.
Alex, The mark of a truly successful luxury brand in 2023 is measured by their ability to sell shamelessly overpriced, derivative, front wheel drive rubbish without having to discount their genuine luxury models. When Genesis can sell a re-badged, 120 hp Accent for $37,900 they will claim their place among the ranks of the solidly established luxury brands. 😉😉😉
Very handsome sedan. And I'd absolutely take a G90 over a Lexus LS based on styling and interior design. Those dashboard "wings" are giving me a 50s Chrysler "Forward Look" vibe. Virgil Exner must have been reincarnated and now working for Genesis. Excellent honest review as always, Alex. Happy New Year 🍾 ✨️
What a beautiful car overall. I love the design. The rear quarter is beautiful and I love the slim lighting front & rear. The interior is gorgeous especially the dash. The only thing I don't like about the interior is the protruding "pods" on the steering wheel. Awesome car.
Bought g80 last year and I'm glad I've contributed to a continuously developing and improving brand. The only thing now are dealers, whish they would roll out standalone locations faster!
Exactly right, and this is why I cannot consider a Genesis now or in the near future. Our only option in NW Arkansas is.......... and the next dealership is 100+ miles away. Whole sales and service philosophy from the top down is fleece the customer and give them the minimum possible. I know much more about the Genesis products than their salespeople do. I just bought a 2019 MB S560 w/7.5K miles to replace my 2015 MB S550. This 2023 G90 would have been a worthy option except for Hyundai/Genesis dealer.
Likewise. I'd take this over any German vehicles of similar price range. Genesis cars are incredibly reliable, significanlty affordable to maintain/fix than BMWs/Mercedes or even Lexus. Interior is top-notch and exterior is just out of this world. Only Con for them is their dealership experience is really sub-par and service centers are also not that great. I'd go to a local mechanic nearby after doing some search on Yelp.
Let be honest. The German luxury cars have fallen very far from grace. Mercedes and BMW used to be king in the 90s and backwards, but then they went insane with the technology and the overwngineering, and the price tag. Now, Lexus and Genesis(so far) have been among the most comfortable, reliable, and bargain luxury car brands. No other car brand comes close, nothing European, and nothing American.
I drove 5 Lexus cars including 4 LS. When I looked into the LS500 I was terribly disappointed. I found a smokin' deal 2 years ago on a 2017 G90 Ultimate 5.0 and it has become the best car I've owned. All Genesis needs to do now is get those Genesis dealerships out there so service isn't at a Hyundai dealership.
All current Genesis stores have committed to building a stand alone store within the next 2 years I believe. If they haven't made that commitment they have lost their Genesis franchise. You can look around and see far fewer Hyundai dealers with Genesis these days.
@Alexander de Burdegala I will believe that when I see it. My local Genesis dealer is a Hyundai dealership with an added " alcove" that hold three Genesis vehicles. Same service bay, same waiting. There is not near enough volume of this brand to make a business argument for a free standing dealership As for the G90 the already slow sales have been dropping...with this new higher price tag I am going to suspect they will drop further is the car is no longer the good deal it was before when it was $25K cheaper
That's good to hear. Having bought 4 Hyundais and 2 Geneses as a family so far, our least favorite thing is to walk into that dealership. My dad, the man who started buying Hyundais when they were still crap back in the late 90s, swore off Hyundai / Genesis after the last Genesis purchase. We will see if the new Genesis stand-alone dealers will be better.
@@joshuaychung I am guessing you are going to be waiting a LONG time before you see any free standing dealerships in numbers. I dont think the German car buyers is even giving Genesis a look and the small crossovers and the ES are what is keeping Lexus dealers open From a pure business perspective I dont see how a business man is going to invest millions into a free standing Genesis dealership ..UNLESS Hyundai starts to subsidize the building of them
To heck with Genesis's "stand alone stores". What good is that when the majority of their customers are pissed off and Genesis doesn't honor the warranty agreements? Go look up Yelp reviews across the USA that paints the true picture. Massive amounts of 99% complaints about Genesis dealerships service departments across the entire USA. Customers not getting loaners because they tell them they don't have any (which breaks the warranty agreement), the service departments not calling customers back, keeping their vehicles for weeks making excuse of waiting for parts, and tons of other complaints in regards to Genesis's service departments. Who care one bit about Genesis's so-called "committed to building a stand alone store within the next 2 years? Stupid stores is not important. Their customers are way more important first & foremost. If they haven't made the commitment to hold up their bargain on their car warranty regarding service departments providing great service to their customers, then they have lost their Genesis franchise from the beginning. And you are talking about a stupid building? Wth?
17:00 The dashboard wing things are interesting. I don't really hate it, but it reminded me immediately of something from the 1950's. Kinda 1959 Plymouth.
I've got to be honest I like all the look quarks about the car with the way they did the dashboard and the steering wheel and it's like they took all the best parts so they'd more expensive cars and put them in this car the things you could really use.
I got me the GV80 from BMW at a good deal and love everything about it. People have been impressed with the SUV and are surprised that it's Hyundai. I remember the BMW salesperson saying that the features it has are only available in top package BMW car which is twice the price of GV80
I have heard that the Genesis warranty is NOT transferable upon resale to another party if still under warranty. I wonder if this is true? It's such a beautiful car & I wanted a G90 so bad, but ALL Genesis Service Department reviews on all of Yelp is nothing but complaints & horrible reviews regarding wait times, cars sitting waiting for parts & repairs, the lack of care, no call backs to customers, no loaners EVER available (like their warranty contract states) & so many other complaints in at ALL Genesis Dealership Service Departments across the USA, the list goes on & on. Genesis Dealership's Service Departments sound totally worthless & this makes the warranty basically VOID & worthless to me & makes me totally reluctant on purchasing one. How is any warranty worth anything if they lie on the warranty contract in regards to their service and don't care about their customer base in Service Departments EVERYWHERE across the USA? If I was to buy I'd have to take it to ANY other mechanic than a Genesis dealership service department that is worthless. It makes no sense in buying a new car. Genesis is RUINING their dealerships & making BORKEN PROMISES to customers it sounds like to me on their warranties on their vehicles because their Dealership Service Department sound totally worthless. I'm second guessing buying a G90 for these main reasons.
I have a 2021 G90 5.0 and a 2024 G90 I just took delivery on. You have valid concern as Genesis USA/Korea has made some very poor decisions as how to roll out the brand concerning their dealerships. That is a very long topic for another day. The G90 regarding quality is simply amazing in my opinion. Well worth the north of $100k out the door price, yet a great value. Now I am from Long Island and I don’t care for the sales depts of anyone of them. I have purchased all 5 of my Genesis vehicle's from the Genesis of Danbury Connecticut dealership. They are a 5 STAR dealership. They deliver the cars to me on every purchase over the ferry to my door. Unfortunately, I can't easily use them for every service. There is one dealership here on Long Island that has worked out. I have had an overall good service experience. Only once did I have a head butting experience with the local dealership. It was over a few hundred dollar dispute. I wound up contacting Genesis USA customer service. They immediately after hearing my disappointing experience they sent me a $500.00 gift credit card. I have purcahsed over 40 news cars to date. OveralI I have had good cars and experiences. A few bumps in the road but thats life. I also own several corvettes. Other than the two C8s, a 22 Z51, and 2023 Z06. Buying cars at that dealership for 32 years. Best Chevy dealership around. America finally made an exotic speed machine and I get to play with them.😊 PS: We also have a 2020 G70 and 2021 G80, which are at a 2nd residence in Fla. They are both great value but not a G90.
Genesis G90 is awesome, reliability is a 10. Exterior and interior is gorgeous. I own a Genesis G90 5.0 Ultimate Htrac, I will never sell it. Has the powerful V8. You can keep the Mercedes S-Class, Audi A8, Lexus LS500, BMW 7 series. Genesis G90 my first and always large Saloon car to buy first. Any other vehicle would have to be a Bentley Flying Spur, or Rolls Royce Ghost. These Genesis are easily designed to go well beyond 300k miles with Rountine Service, Lexus as well. Reliability even beat Lexus. Long term Genesis and Lexus. For me! The only other car I might consider buying in the future is the Lexus LC500, love naturally aspirated engines. But this engine now is hybridized version of the 3.5 liter turbo V6 as an upgrade.
Thorough and articulate review Alex. It’s a beautiful car and the quality is there I just can’t stand the grill, it’s very much related to the funky Grill work on the Lexus LS not as good. I don’t like the Lexus grill work either.
The long wheelbase model in S. Korea is a $60,000 option. Which makes it a $144,500 car fully loaded here with every option. But Gensis is actually catering to the global market first in terms of supply it seems as I am reading people in other countries are getting their orders in a few months' time. The waiting list to get any Genesis is 12 to 15 months in Korea. Trying to get a custom option spec'd GV60 or GV70 and that's what our guy told us when we signed up for one.
@@samusaran7317 No one normal here is going to buy that. If anything those will be bought by government contracts for diplomats and executives of companies to be chauffeured around in. I'm pretty sure they will put it on the taxpayers or company's tab. Probably why its a 60 grand up sale.
The screens being broken up is a nice touch, but the buttons they put up there are very strange. I could see those buttons being volume up/down on the right and the left should be hud on/off or drive modes.
@@herbwilliams3862 troll. Even the 2020s that was had mrsp of $73k-75k are selling for $41k -60k on the used market. So keep dreaming that a 100k Genesis will depreciate to 50k after 1 year. Their SUVs Hold their value too.
From start to finish Alex dropping rational gems. As always great review. Hope other brands are watching Genesis. Lexus LS, always lacking modern technology. Benz S Class, fading away luxury with too much tech. BMW 7, Bangle Butt Pt 2. Audi A8, who cares.
It doesn't matter if it is cheaper or better, it's not a Mercedes. 100 years of automotive history and the 3 pointed star on the hood is part of the Brand, which people buy.
I honestly like the wings around the gauge cluster. Screens have, I think, somewhat diminished the sense of luxury in these very high-end sedans--the centrality of the screen in the new S-Class' interior frankly ruins it for me, completely; it looks so cheap, especially with all the shiny black plastic around it. The G90's wings at least make the screens feel a bit better incorporated, like the LS' was before the recent enlargement. Overall, about the only thing I really wished they'd done with this most recent generation of 6-cylinder Genesis products is make them inline-6's, instead of V's. I know that ship has sailed, but an I6 feels and sounds so much more luxurious than a V6; I'd kind of thought they'd go full modular with their most recent engine family, as it'll be their last. Just the same; the EV version of any luxury car is going to make the most sense to most people who shop in this class of car. As a total, non-EV package, though, this'd be hard to pass up for any of the competition, assuming you can buy it from a dedicated Genesis dealer.
I agree. When I test drove this one, I felt like at this point they might as well make it a full EV since you're not getting an amazing engine sound or the most amazing power (not that it's not perfectly fine for a large, heavy car). While there were a few personal preference things I didn't find much of an improvement over the last car, like the air suspension which didn't feel much different than the regular suspension on my car, the crushed carbon fiber which I don't prefer over wood, the new sound system that to me sounded the same as the Lexicon and the lack of augmented reality stuff they showed in the Korean GV80 years ago, I really loved it. The leather and high quality materials everywhere, even in places you wouldn't need them, or where the S class uses plastic/vinyl, the lack of dirty gloss black plastic all over the place, the motorized doors, the great rear seats, the high quality metal physical controls instead of cheap screens slapped on everywhere and the overall very nice looks inside and out really make it a great car. It's quiet, comfortable, it turns heads and impresses anyone who sits in it. It's better than a new $350k Bentley in some ways (except for the engine), and very similar in most ways, while costing less than 1/3 of the price. While it's not cheap, at this price you can't get anything similar.
I love the "but the suspension and ride isn't as refined" when *they use the exact same AWD system as BMW* . From the same manufacture etc. It's brand snobbery and nothing else. Their opinion are just that, not supported by facts. Genesis also offers more for less $, use the same or better materials etc. Another thing to consider is Genesis vehicles are not based upon a mass market product unlike Toyota/Lexus or Acura/Honda. Many, well most honestly of their vehicles are. The 350 for instance is a upgraded Rav4. Same platform with diffrence styling and upgraded interior.
The AWD system has nothing to do with the suspension/ride, it has to do with how it shuffles around the power to different wheels. Genesis also tunes the AWD differently so you can't even compare that. At $100k this is only 7k less than a comparably equipped 740i which will have a better engine, better ride and handling. The 740i will sacrifice AWD, self closing doors, and the warranty. If you plan to only keep for 3 years the warranty doesn't matter since I'm sure both will depreciate about the same. As much as they suck, the Lexus LS or the (former) Acura RLX weren't based on mass market products either. Technically the LS shares a platform with the LC the (nicer) last generation Crown, and the bizarre Mirai.
Its great but i think at this price the front passenger seat should have the same range of motion as the drivers seat considering a 50k dollar acura tlx advance has the exact same range of motiln including inflatable bolsters, extending thigh cushion
It's 2023. Why are manufacturers still not offering wireless Android Auto / Apple CarPlay as standard across the board, let alone in their top trim cars? Some base Elantra cars have wireless, but the higher trim Elantras don't. I don't understand if this is a limitation of some sort. Does anyone know?

As usual Alex gives a great objective review. As a 11 years retired 31 year veteran Mercedes/Porsche Sales/Sale Manager & MB S Class owner the Genesis is so much more car for so much less $$$$$.
It sounds a lovely car but I can't get past only 20 miles per gallon on our warming planet.

Just purchased a 2023 GV70 and I absolutely love it! I am impressed with Genesis.

Love Alex. He has improved to top end.
Hyundai-Kia is a wild company. I've recommended sub-10k Kia Fortes to several people and 50k G70s to others. Really taking on Japan and Germany at their own games. Great review as always.
**the sound the door makes when it closes**. SHOTS FIRED!!🤣
**Redline Reviews/Sofyan is not gonna like that!🤣 It MUST have the "German" solid "thunk" when it closes or it is poor quality...allegedly.
Of this Genesis, I like that there is no derivation in the design. It is purely a build over the previous-generation, just thoroughly modern. I liken it to a "stealth wealth" vehicle. There are quite a few wealthy folks that don't care about nameplate or ostentatious styling.
LOL.. my exact thoughts .. Sofyan's thunk was the first thing that came to mind.

Sofyan and Alex appear to be friends offline , or at least it appeared that way from some videos where they cross presented for the respective channels.
I love the bars separating the screens. Makes the design interesting and not generic. 😄

Good review. I've driven a 2021 LS500 and a 2022 G90. G90 much better value and better ride (if you like road feel). I can't think of any Genesis model I wouldn't want to own when compared to a comparable Lexus. Genesis is today what Lexus was in the 1990s: Value.
What a nice-looking vehicle! I would buy this. A few years ago, I would've never said that.
Keep driving that audi nicely...from Mercedes Benz guy....boom.
Thanks, Alex! Someone needed to call out the car snobs. Genesis is doing amazing work!

If I was buying a flagship luxury sedan, this would be it!🔥🔥🔥
I think the dashboard wings are necessary since they make it stand out and they utilized the wings in a good way. If they werent there, it would look just like all the other kias, hyundais, mercs, with wide screens that dont cost much anymore
They also sort of play into the steering wheel design.
Re: your thoughts about *depreciation.*
You think it'll *depreciate fast?* Could be, but it seems the reasons the expensive German / Italian / British cars depreciate so fast is because of their *poor reliability quality.* When used buyers are faced with almost guaranteed overpriced (and sooner than should be) repairs, of course the cars' used prices reflect that.
That door thunk comment seemed like a shot across Sofyan's bow...🙂🙂 Happy New Year Alex!!

Virgil Exner must have been reincarnated and now working for Genesis. Excellent honest review as always, Alex. Happy New Year 🍾 ✨️
Yes! The dash does look like a late 50s Chrysler.

Director of design come from Bentley, also used top engineers came from Audi VW group..Genesis is killing it 🔥 i am a BMW guy but i take this any day
Alex, as always, very good. Thank you. I've been intrigued with the G90 for about a year and a half. I can see one in my future.
Genesis is genuinely really attractive… those are some nice cars. I’m strongly considering the electric Genesis.
EV's are NOT ready for prime time. Most importantly the charging and maintenance infrastructure is years away. Beware.
One thing is clear. More reliable than German at least.
Yeah, Hyundai hasn’t had any issues recently in regards to reliability have they?
I agree that the 2 silver buttons (interior illumination and trunk release buttons) look out of place. I don't mind the screen being split though
At that price point I want either a smooth straight-six or a V8. Having a boring V6 just makes it feel like you're buying a Camry or something.
Hyundai‘s made leaps and bounds since the original Excel but I just can’t get past all the engine and transmission issues right now
Finally someone said it. Door sound doesn't mean anything...
* Beautiful car and yes I would buy a G90*
Germans have fallen far from grace. Koreans are doing a great job! G90 for me!
Germans are fine. It’s Lexus who’s really fallen from grace joining Infiniti
@David Jung I think calling Lexus 2nd class is too generous. There more 4-5th class. Now Acura is the 2nd class brand
Great review! What are your thoughts about the resell value?
None 😂
All current Genesis stores have committed to building a stand alone store within the next 2 years I believe. If they haven't made that commitment they have lost their Genesis franchise. You can look around and see far fewer Hyundai dealers with Genesis these days.
@Alexander de Burdegala
I will believe that when I see it. My local Genesis dealer is a Hyundai dealership with an added " alcove" that hold three Genesis vehicles. Same service bay, same waiting. There is not near enough volume of this brand to make a business argument for a free standing dealership
As for the G90 the already slow sales have been dropping...with this new higher price tag I am going to suspect they will drop further is the car is no longer the good deal it was before when it was $25K cheaper
I dont think the German car buyers is even giving Genesis a look and the small crossovers and the ES are what is keeping Lexus dealers open
From a pure business perspective I dont see how a business man is going to invest millions into a free standing Genesis dealership ..UNLESS Hyundai starts to subsidize the building of them
To heck with Genesis's "stand alone stores".
Wth?

Genesis Dealership's Service Departments sound totally worthless & this makes the warranty basically VOID & worthless to me & makes me totally reluctant on purchasing one.
How is any warranty worth anything if they lie on the warranty contract in regards to their service and don't care about their customer base in Service Departments EVERYWHERE across the USA?
If I was to buy I'd have to take it to ANY other mechanic than a Genesis dealership service department that is worthless. It makes no sense in buying a new car.

I'd buy any Genesis over Lexus, BMW or Benz. The quality of Genesis surpasses the other three combined!
Yes. Closes book. Kia warranty issues are very real.
Beautiful design, inside and out. 🥰👍🏼
With all the rains take care Alex. Wishing everything well in your neighborhood.
Wow, I feel like that was a shot at Redline reviews with that “sound the door makes” line.
Excellent video. Very thorough. Thanks.
not a fan of how it looks, but I admire how hard that Korean designer and engineering are trying. Great technology and design logistic.
This car really makes the S Class look like a boring bar of soap in terms of exterior design.
That's crazy. Like what's more do you need you know. The most expensive G90 is the least expensive S class. That's wild
