Mene Gene and Bobby Heenan are about as irreplaceable as it can get. The talent those 2 had at what they did was pure genius.
Bobby Heenan is the most overrated wrestling personality ever imo.

I think that Cornette would have been one of the greatest interviewers/announcers had he not been a manager.

Gene was gold, voice of the 80s for those of us that missed Gordon Solie.

Mean Gene really had it. Could talk the talk as good as anyone, knew how to accentuate the good wrestlers or keep them on track during promos, able to guide (Sometimes carry) the lesser ones and had that great sportscaster voice that made everything feel more professional. And that's just in front of the camera.
Okerlund, Monsoon, and Finkel gave WWF legitimacy and gravity amid all the cartoon nonsense. Don't underestimate their contribution.

Not to be a jerk, but did Mr. Nash go to his funeral? According to DDP nobody in pro wrestling went. For a guy who was "universally loved" DDP's claim was a sad surprise.

I miss Gene soo much, there was nobody like him, Some of my best childhood wrestling memories are his interviews. I laugh so hard today at his video it leaves me in tears, God blessed this man with so much talent. He was so ahead of his time, wrestling interviewing has not been the same since his departure...

Though he was damn near crazy, Dr. D. was one the funniest guys ever.
The mean gene outtakes always make me laugh. I'm fairly sure it's Howard Finkel that approaches the camera at the end of the clip.
Yet Kevin Nash who lives in Florida didn't even go to mean Gene's funeral which was in Florida.
DDP said a bunch of wrestlers missed Mean Gene's funeral including Nash and Hogan who live in Florida where Mean Gene is buried.

DDP said very few people even went to his funeral. It was in Florida too where most of the boys live. Hulk didn't even go.

Sometimes we choose to remember folks like they were. Other times we're busy with work, taking care of our families, or just can't make it for whatever reason. Funerals aren't for the deceased anyways. They don't know you're there. It's for the relatives, friends, coworkers, girlfriends or boyfriends, etc. Unless a funeral is someone that is real close to me, I don't go to them either. It doesn't mean I love them any less.

As an adult Hogan, Warrior, and most these other guys are intolerable and Gene is freaking phenomenal every time.
Mean Gene was incredible. I used to watch him Saturday Mornings on thie WWF show where he was the host and hed talk about all the things that had happened that week at house shows and live events, ppvs that were coming up, or what happened at a ppv that just happened the sunday before. Id wake up early every saturday to watch cartoons and then the wrestling show. It was awesome and im glad i got to experience the golden era of wrestling, even if it was the last gasp of it. Wrestling isnt the same anymore and we've lost so many of the guys and gals that made us fans of wrestling to begin with.

Just found this channel. Mean Gene is one of the most memorable announcers in any sport. And Kevin Nash is cool as hell! Seems like a guy you’d hit the bar with and have a blast!

Mean Gene was so amazing! I knew who he was for years before I knew who John Madden was. He was that important to my childhood. I am so sad that people like Hogan and Kevin Nash didn't even show up for the funeral.

I was in the kitchen in the pub on the water in Sarasota bay and I hear a familiar voice I new well so I peek out there was Gene and a couple of other of his friends having a few pop's so I said hey and asked him how his wife Jean was, they were regular customer s and always fixed them up! He bought a new boat and would have me Capt him to all the bars on the water 🙈🙊🙉
