@@BoulderCreekRailroad Burns' mansion would be fun, just because mansions are fun. But here's an idea to play with. If you eventually do the nuclear power plant (an obvious choice), in every establishing shot in the series, a crow makes a quick caw sound. Without the option for such an audio cue in a diorama, place a crow on the lip of the tower to visually replicate that gag. :^)

In fairness, the first 10 seasons of The Simpson's are timeless. The worry shouldn't be in getting old and feeling nostalgic, it's that current generations aren't properly given a chance to make this a part of their lives as it was ours. There are more, and better, jokes in your average 30s Simpson's clip than in an entire month of current programming.

yeah it's not for everyone, although there are many other budget laser cutters out there for less than $200-$300 😉

It all looks good but I feel like all the channels like this that build dioramas start to become less achievable overtime. In the beginning, everything is as scratch build as you can get, but then becomes all cnc and 3d printing. All of my favorite builders like this one have gone this way and I feel like there's no art in it anymore, just like models to assemble from the store. I know there's hate coming but not everyone has thousands to spend on equipment

Great model work, but how does the contractor get the dumpster out of the enclosure?
I love this channel but lately instead of building things it's just "I 3D printed this". I understand the fidelity is much higher and quality of the result is better but that's not what put me in awe first time I saw videos here. It's also not the thing I show people. Making a barn with corrugated iron which was made from tin foil and then etched to look aged took skill and knowledge, not extrude this profile click print.
The sign, Maybe redo that by printing it in reverse on gloss clear overhead projector film or some how put a clear plastic over it to make it pop some.
That's a good idea! I tried a gloss coat over the top but it just soaked into the paper and looked terrible, so I just left it.

Hi Tuke, Congratulations, I've already missed seeing new constructions, which for me are the most detailed, I would like you to teach us later how to take the HxWxL measurements of a house or building using images from Google Street View.
Thanks mate, I've normally just tried to get measurements from photos by using something in the image that has a standard height and width, like a front door for example. It should work ok using google as long as there is something like a door or even a person standing in front?

ha ha yeah, it was on another diorama behind me so plonked it into the carpark 😉 I didn't think it looked too bad 😅 But yeah not exactly something you'd see driving up to the Kwik-E-Mart... Maybe they were picking up some doughnuts!

what grey green paint do you use? I'm trying to read the bottle. I think in the past you used other colors for cement too. I'm building a large concrete service pad. aka Southwest Arizona. Needs to look sun bleached and dirty. Thinking a combination of light grey and or blue grey with light tan powders to look like dust and or dirt ground into the pad. Thanks.

@BoulderCreekRailroad Since your making ho scale models from TV shows. Please do a tutorial on how to make a working 3D printed ho scale Thomas the tank engine using the chassis from the Bachmann Thomas. Thomas & Friends was a TV show filmed with working model trains for the first 12 seasons. There is a 3D printable body shell for Thomas in ho scale available for free that you could use for this project by The_lbsc_thomas.
When are you going to get back to the train layout?
Soon, I've got some more smaller dioramas to work on but the train layout is still coming along 😉
After spending an entire day watching and taking notes, it hit me, most of your work is in HO scale. How does this transfer to N scale?

yeah I still use those things in a lot of videos, but I put much less focus into it when I do use them. What you said is kind of true, as a modeller over time you get better and better tools and equipment, after a while you don't need to build things the way you used to.
Obviously it would be very expensive to start off with everything but with all the thousands of dollars worth of tools I have, it's been accumulated over at least 10 or 11 years. I probably spend $600 over the course of a year on average for tools and materials. Some years it's more and some it's less.

Hi Elle! I've been watching your content for years to help me fall asleep. I know everyone's favorites are the waterfall dioramas but I have to admit my favorite is the gold mine, it's so unique! I'm also trans and I'd noticed the colored letters in your previous videos but I had convinced myself it was just a coincidence and maybe you just liked those colors, then I watched this video and finally read your link in the description and was really glad! I'm so happy for you and I can't wait to see what the future brings.
lol, yeah I threw those trans colours in to kind of hit at my transition and just to see how the viewers who watch my channel react. It got a very mixed response and there was quite a bit of transphobia in the comments initially! Thankfully the most transphobic people unsubscribed which was what I wanted.
I hope to purge those types of people, there's just no need for it and we can do so much better as a society!
It's nice to see a fellow trans person who has been a subscriber for so long 🥰 Thank you so much, I'm very excited to continue growing as a transgender person, since coming out I'm less stressed, less anxious and sleep better. Although it's not a cure for those things it certainly helps when you can be and act your genuine self in public 😊

Excellent work! I'd really like to have something like this and Moe's Tavern but in 1/24 scale because automotive dioramas are rather appealing to me and that's what I'd like to build. What are the dimensions of the "actual" buildings so I can convert the measurements to 1/24? I will have to scratchbuild the structures old school style, don't have a laser cutter.
I don't have them of the top of my head, the dimensions were just a guess in the first place, I kinda drew it to HO scale and made iterations until it looked somewhat accurate 😉

If you're going to build the whole town, will you do the dome? Also, which do you like working with more, acrylic or plywood?
An entire model of Springfield would fill my garage and then some 😅 I'd probably say plywood, it's just a bit easier to manage and glue together, it sands better and is a bit more forgiving. The down side to wood is the grainy texture but with some paint filler it's easy enough to get nice and smooth. On the other hand acrylic is much less likely to warp but doesn't sand as easily and is more expensive.
