Follow along as I take you through the process of creating an awesome city street with working bikes and a deliver truck, this model was such a joy to create and it’s even more fun to sit and watch as the bikes and cars move around the layout.
All the techniques used on this model can be applied to all sorts of different modelling genres, from the military modellers, to war gamers and of course model railroaders. Sit back and enjoy watching.
Brilliant as usual, Luke. The most realistic part was the DHL van cutting off the cyclist at high speed.
the driver is probably racing the cyclist, so no one is home and the driver can leave a note
Yes that was a close call
@@LassetUnsSpielen lol
That’s what they call, “realistic”. 😃
This comment lives in my head rent free
I think that model-scale lady just had her life flash before her eyes when the DHL truck came too close to her bicycle 😆 You did such a great job, Luke!
I winced at that. Definitely clisercthan current UK passing distance of 2 metre. Highway code being changed to make it 1.5 metres. Scary!
I thought the same, but I think it's what makes it all rather realistic 😆 (as does the fast driving lol)
28:30 I think she soiled herself. Once (we drive on the right here BTW) I was riding a bicycle downhill and at the bottom there's a curve to the left. If you make the curve too fast, there's a bunch of sand on the right side of the road to greet you. But this was the '90s and I had the worst brakes. Also it was the '90s so no safety gear whatsoever. Anyway, I was just managing this curve and a big camping-out truck comes from behind me, (a) leaving not much room and (b) blowing me off the road. So I voluntarily ditched, and rolled into the sand. I was fine, the bike was fine, the doofus going camping was fine, and I rode home a little slower that day.
Normal dhl driver I’d say, even more realistic 😂
@@winklton Christmas delivery schedule is madness.
Actually, I think the DHL driver's speed was pretty acurate based on what I've seen some of them do!
Yeah, they are always over speeding here too.
I was about to say that. Come down to the city and you will see.
yo i just sent an item to US from asia via DHL an it only took 3 days, that is insane
Need a police car with lights chasing the DHL truck
This is something every German will tell.
Gorgeous work Luke and I second the fact 3D Printing has been such a game changing tool for the hobby. Also, love the little push/pull switch for the magnarail. I need to give that a go sometime for a steampunk diorama or something😁
LOL. I think that DHL truck is traveling way too slow for the States. Maybe to add some additional realism, if it could sideswipe a few of the parked cars, that would be great! 🙂
How about it refuses to drive around the block until you pay a customs charge? Now that would be a realistic DHL truck ;)
My wife and I were on the Interstate the other day when I remarked* that Amazons must be a really popular brand of truck. I see the all over the place.
*With a completely straight face
As an airplane buff I'd love to see you do an airport scene, all the vehicles driving around a parked plane would be awesome. Love your work, it's very inspirational and so well done. Top notch!
aeroplane* please at least get the word correct.
@@iris4547 🦅🎇🇺🇲
Airplane is the correct spelling BUT you could add like working doors
@@furchicken no airplane is horribly incorrect. but ill let you do what you want with doors.
Airport scenes are huge. If you have ever been to Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg you can see the airport there is as huge as a the cities are. It is about 150 Squaremeters, but still resembles a rather small airport. Even a small airfield would have to be at least 11 m in H0 scale in one direction due to the runway.
I think the idea is great, but I don't know whether or not he has the capacity to do this.
Hey Luke! Have you ever thought about doing a famous landmarks series? Would love to see your take on scenes from around the world.
That would be cool
He did stone henge a while back
I watched it twice now and I swear, once again, I never spotted any miniLukes!
Yeah, you were suckered by an age old marketing technique.
Spraying matte sealant overtop of the masking tape so the edges are clean is legitimately a genius technique, I can't believe I've never thought of doing that before!
I learned that painting cars, full sized cars. But I had to see it done in modeling before it dawned on me, it is genius! Just don’t wait too long. If the paint gets too hard it’ll lift off when you pull the tape.
That speed on a residential road is ENTIRELY accurate for a DHL truck
I love how the cyclist moves closer to the curb after passing the cars. Bravo Luke, just fantastic overall.
This is just amazing. Especially in natural light. With the right perspective it’s really difficult to tell it’s not real. Incredible work man, just incredible. Loved every minute of this.
As always amazing Luke! Hey, How about a lunar surface diorama. Maybe basing around the Lunar module landing in 1969?
But only if he includes the camera crew ;)
Maybe the Lunar Rover could be doing donuts?
Or a simple drive around would be equally as satisfying!
I think the bikes could be adapted to look like running dinosaurs...
The person on the bike is very motivated, look at those legs churn
yeah she is pedaling pretty fast! I heard it was a bit of a dodgy neighborhood 😄
I’m going to try to find wally
“Luke, you have gone farther!”
I marvel at the shooting angles of your dioramas where it is so difficult to get the correct sense of scale. At any moment, that Land Rover could start up, some dogs could start barking and now, here you have done it again!
Yes Another Video!!!!!!!
Having trouble finding Wally? You'll find the answers here: www.bouldercreekrailroad.com/find-me-challenge.html 😃 Thanks for so many awesome comments already! 😃 Having a video sponsor helps me put these projects together and it's a sponsor I actually use. I didn't see him once, will have to rewatch on the telly. Is he always in the foreground or is he sometimes on the back shelf? Love your work.
@@matthewmullins2668 He is always somewhere on my workbench, I don't put him on the back shelf because it's a little too far away and hard to spot 😉
Is he Wally in Australia? In the States we call him Waldo
@@apterminator3882 lol, yeah he is the British/Aussie version 😃 He was originally created by a British author and called Wally but it was changed to Waldo for the US release 😉
I saw him once on the fire escape. And even then he was hard to see. He's well camoflaged
edit: I watched it again and only saw him 3 times.
Another fantastic build. Thank you. Do you have a museum or gallery somewhere?
Well that's where my package is. Stuck in a DHL truck going on a endless loop!
Hi Luke. You have built a beautiful diorama there again. The building looks gigantic and the designed environment is perfect. The cyclist and the truck still bring movement. Really good. Thank you for showing me. Greetings Tino
wer hätte gedacht das es da auch DHL gibt^^
@@tonymahony2032 stimmt, das fand ich auch lustig :-)
Stunning, as always! I'm in the process of doing my first large diorama (probably too large if I'm honest) and your work has given me something to aim for, though I have a long way to go before I create anything as good as yours.
I was going to skip the ad - but the way you implement into video was great! Good content as always.
I skipped
@@SquidCena Me too
Always a good day when Luke uploads.
Take care Luke. You are standing in the middle of the road at 0:05 seconds, the cyclist almost hits you 😀
Superb video and final result as always 👍
ever thought about producing a front zipper hoodie with small bcr logo on the front & the full logo on the back . thanks really enjoy your videos , you are extremely talented at what you do .
Diorama making is one of the most expensive hobbies but the most satisfying and rewarding when finished.
Dope as always mate!!! Forget Waldo though, I'd rather have that Talespin Baloo @ 0:35 !!
Fantastic sir .i watch this more videos. Prem Kumar India state tamilnadu 🙏🌻🦋
This model was originally designed and sold by Imagine That Laser Art based in Windsor Ontario. The company was owned and operated by Mark Williams, a local sculptor and model maker. He sold the company to ITLA in Cambridge ON. O scale and HO version was available. .I was fortunate to help Mark on several of his models. The most famous being a 1/48th. full size rendition of the Brooklyn Dodgers Ebbetts Field baseball stadium, since torn down in New York . It was a custom build laser cut excact replica sold to a private collector in California for $175,000. Mark actually designed several of the ITLA buildings.
There hasn’t been a video on this channel for over 3 months. What’s up Luke?
Hi
Beautiful. I'd love to see a post-apocalyptic version of the hotel.
The trucks speed seems right on point for a delivery driver.
Luke, would you ever consider re-visiting paper structures with one of your projects? I would love to see what you do with one of them!
Luke, be careful not to get white primer on the brown dog next time!
wow....nice work!!!
Can you please make a model version of laguna seca race track
If you put a mini rc car in the scenary you could make an action scene
How are your supplies and tools always so clean?!??
Oh man, the little moving parts really take it to the next level. 11/10!
Excellent video, thank goExcellent video, thank goodness we have such wonderful footage of train
to see us through these difficult time.
DHL speeding is accurate to real life.
Hi where do you find all the material for the models
Anyone know what his intro song is called?
I love these bottle flip with spray cans
Looks great as always, I’m finally looking into a resin 3D printer for myself so hopefully that will open up some more modelling opportunities for me!
Why do you make this look so easy lol. Phenomenal as always my friend. Looked like the truck almost clipped that girl on the bike lol. So darn cool
Love your videos! Some additional ideas for future:
- Aircraft Carrier, with functional airplane lifts / catapults. Escorted by submarine. A huge resin sea where you can see the submarine in there somehow :)
- Saturn V on launchpad taking off
Do you listen to music or podcasts while you work? Or audiobooks? I love all of your models! Your thorough tutorials make it easy to understand how much work goes into these beautiful artworks
Always love to watch your videos. The vehicles and buildings in your dioramas is my favorite part, the human and natural elements give a lot of life to a build. If I could send you an idea for a future diorama, try an abandoned junkyard or scrap facility. Would love to see your skills put into something like that
Can you please make a complete train layout
Great work as always, Luke!
A 3D printer and a laser cutter will be useful for me someday!
The most realistic part of this diorama IS the delivery truck. That's how they ACTUALLY drive in real life.
1:19 - was that a black dog before?
I don't know . . . A truck driving WAY past the speed limit and almost hitting someone is very realistic to me :DDD. Great video as usual though. You've made me very jealous of your skills!!
I have to say Luke that your work is absolutely inspiring!!! Please don’t stop. I’m putting a lot of your methods into my own HO railroad layout including the Fuller car system. Bravo sir!
do one with changing weather next!
It's here !! I have been looking forward to this.................... settling in to watch ... ahhhhhh... no doubt this WILL BE GREAT !!
*so beautiful* 😊👌✨
@Luke Towan As your website does request suggestions for future projects, I was just wondering if you had ever considered something from a galaxy far, far away? Maybe a pretty famous seedy spaceport?
Cheers (and thanks for the continued inspiration)!
Vay aqq. Biz yapmaya kalksak bi maaş dökeriz muhtemelen. (Holy fck. If i tried to build this here, i would probably give 1 month salary.)
Superb👍
dont write that before u even watched the video, but propably
Thanks 🤗
Amazing! I am always gob smacked by your work, and learning the methods you use is more than interesting - some are so intuitive that one wonders why they are not standard procedure. Your superb photography and all of your production values round out the experience. Thanks for sharing this build, and here's wishing you and your the best of the Holiday season.
A 23 min video at midnight. I should go to bed, buuuuut....
lol, it might help you sleep 😃
Absolutely love this layout, I've gotten on of the older Faller Car System trucks recently and have been trying to figure out how to make a smaller diorama with it.
To slow the truck down I've come across a few micro RC speed controllers and receivers so I can remotely adjust the speed and also add lights. Hope to see more with the Faller system! I need more ideas.
Your videos never fail to amaze me, Luke. You're truly an inspiration for me. Thanks for sharing.
Once again, a truly amazing build! Thanks so much for pushing the limits and creating awesome scenes, very inspiring
Saya dari Indonesia🇮🇩
Menurut saya ini keren banget😍
Saya harap kamu menambahkan subtitle Indonesia di video anda😁
Teruskan kawan,semoga anda sukses 🙏
Mohon maaf sebelumnya dan Terima kasih 🙏
Another master class in building a diorama from Luke!
awesome work as always
I liked the way to solve the curtains and the track, pure engineering!
Looking really good I'd like to see it connected with some trains as well
Best product tie-in ever. Great video as always... :)
Creative and specatular as always...superb, truly superb...😍😍😍👌👍
Awesome, just as you say 👍😁
Thank you! Cheers! 😊
God created the world and Luke copied it on an H0 scale. Thank you for teaching us to do it so well. Cheers from Spain.
G'day Luke, greatings from Vic.😁
Marry Christmas. I hope you and yours are safe and well. All the best for 2022.🥂🎆🥂
Hi Luke,
Congratulations for your excellent work with this diorama. You give us so many ideas. Thank you for all that.
I've got a question here:
What is the depth needed for Magnorail track?
Cordially,
Javier.
love your work Luke. What you do takes modelling to another level - amazing!! Thank you
Amazing!!! - I'm looking at this creative hobby and your doings from Turkey (where an average employee earns $250 per month), while crying at my fate as seeing how inaccessible everything is.
Amazing! Congratulations! Please, could you tell me where you can buy that track for the bike? Or did you make it yourself? Thank you!
Thanks to the RUclips algorithm randomly shoving this channel my way, I'm now hooked. 😀
Putting the grass mat down…you trim just like I trim sod along odd sidewalk/driveway corners and bends, foundations etc. Your technique for making the mats is enlightening; thanks for sharing. Still trying to find Sikabond Techgrip here in the U.S…maybe I’ll find an equivalent somewhere.
Although all the details look really cool, I can't help but notice that the color scheme of bricks and seams between them is quite unusual. Unusual to the point of looking a bit off. Typically, buildings of this age, regardless of what color of bricks they have, have cement-based mortar that darkens pretty quickly. White lime-based mortar is way more common on way older buildings. It's not like it can't be like that, but it's very uncommon.
Oh hell no. You've sold out to Nord VPN. You've just ruined a brilliant, normally unmolested channel. What a waste.
I was just thinking, the pieces you punched out of the windows would make awesome grave stones! LOL. Not necessarily HO size, but still a cool miniature...
Have you thought about doing something 3x bigger than HO scale for a Christmas model? Santa looks very good in HO HO HO scale.
Don't you think the cyclist is a bit to fast? Kinda looks like Kermit the Frog from the original Muppets movie. Am i the only one who would remember....? 😉
Am I the only one having a childish laughter with the brick part???
Sorry! I love your stuff, but come on! XD
im ashamed to admit but ive been binge-watching these ghost consultation videos(slapped ham etc) and often i just cant work out how they faked the "POLTEGEISTS" movements that was till i saw Lukes magnetic setup that moves the vehicles in Lukes videos,
Unrealistic. The DHL truck didn't drive past the building and to a town 3 hours away and tell you "Your package is avaliable for pickup in the other side of the province."
Beautiful, Luke! Really well done! 😃
Happy holidays! And stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
You kept throwing me when saying "gutters" we call them Kerbs in the UK. The gutter is part of the road.
Great video once again though, keep them coming 👌🏻
you have to HAVE TO make a diorama of that little 3 strip of buildings in the ghost town of Thurmond, WV!!
It's DHL, Luke. Drive is fast, delivery is slow. Awesome diorama, mate.
Some interesting debate in the comments about 3D printing. I guess one end of the spectrum would be designing and printing the entire diorama - and then just painting it all, assuming it's technically possible.
Soon enough 3D printing will come in full colour, at a reasonable price, and all the modelling skill will be in the design of the STL.
Having said, that I reckon many people, including me, enjoy hand-crafting such things.
Please more
Small detail missing: individual window panes are not typically co-planar and the variations are easily visible in reflections as they'll tend to "shimmer" at slightly different times. Cutting them each individually or creasing along boundaries is a way to achieve that realistic unevenness.
That's a great tip 👍
You obviously don't realize that useing a vpn you are providing all you private information to one specific company. And paying them to take it🤪😗wheres the security in that?
