I really like this format. Different stories, all different characters, same odd town. Good way to go, lots of variety and yet they are all tied together. Nice.
Have you heard his tales from an ex convict. 7 hours probably one of the best stories I've ever heard done

I really do love really long stories. As usual great narration style. Expressively read. No reflection on CGS but im not sure about the story this time I just couldnt make sense of it. But much like Jason Hill I just enjoy listening to the soothing narrative voice,no matter what is being read.

If someone could put time stamps for the start and end of each story, that would be lovely, I slid ahead a bit when it mentioned the dog as I had a feeling he wasn't going to make it, that's one of my turn offs in stories, pet casualties that are more than just sickness or old age.
The pinned post at the top has time stamps - I hated the part when Baron died, too - almost stopped listening

Town named after Eli Hallowroots; Revolutionary War hero that ran a concentration camp for Tories...ok I'm guessing.

🇬🇧 Its so odd because for months ive tried to listen to this, but just couldn't get into it at all!
Which is unusual for a CGS story
Ive always enjoyed every one.
But this story eluded me!
Then today, as i listened to the previous story, i sort of nodded off but not fully into sleep then this Hallow Roots story began & i recognised the begining which id so often heard... but i just couldnt be arsed to move to shut it off..
Then as my mind started to take in things id not heard before & im thinking... hang on there.... whats this??
I roused myself & began to listen
Had a different story started?
Glancing at my screen.. no it was def Hallow Roots.. yet... this was good & i immediately picked up the whole gist of the story as it issued forth.
It struck me that it was like a
Twilight Zone story, or a bizarre tale from the Outer Limits..
I carried on listening becoming more engrossed
Ahh i know what this intertwining story reminded me of.. Twin Peaks !!
That very strange, dark, dreamlike or nightmare like with strains of psychedelic peppering the story of small town life in mid America
Most definately Twin Peaks!!!
( those of a certain age will remember the very peculiar TV series made by English director David Lynch, shown 1st in the US
& quickly gained cult status everywhere)
This story is just like the town of Twin Peaks with the same unfathomable story lines which begin to make sense as you keep listening & Hallow Roots is the audio equivalent!
It got more & more Waaaaay out there, the stories dove-tailed perfectly.
I adored this audio
Version of a Salvadore Dali painting as the treasure that is Hallow Roots, has progressed.
It ended with me being fully appreciative of this wonderful literary work.
I think it does kind of have a targeted audience, those who loved Twin Peaks with its eccentricities & idiosyncratic
Concept.
If you " Got" Twin Peaks, then you'd get this story too!
Shame David Lynch, director, has gone to that great cinema in the sky, because he would have loved to have made a film out of
Hallow Roots.
In a way its quite genius, in my humble opinion.
Im so pleased i was too lazy to move to switch this off as id had trouble getting into it.
If id known beforehand it was very " Twin Peaksy" i would have not given up listening, as once you forget TRYING to make sense of it for the 1st hour, the whole concept suddenly just makes an obscure but definate understanding.

LOL!!!! I can understand the mistake, to be sure, but thehumming baseball bat, i am relatively certain, is meant to be labeled "marital aid," not "martial aid." As disturbing, and perhaps counter-intuitive as that may at first appear... the misunderstanding just makes it even more hilarious, though, even if it was an unintentional joke. Cant really be upset at bonus laughs, can we now?

I'm only at the part where the "Doctor" says he must be one of them. Plus, the guy knows he knows something. Putting on the robe would relinquish all control over your life. He's now in the eyes of the law supposed to be locked up. Plus, the doctor can say anything to a jury if it goes that far. People believe a doctor over a patient.
