Hey Brett! I have a question about one of the stories for you because you are such an extraordinary author (on top of being the best narrator on YT!). In the story "Forest of Three", I think it is written well and flows really smartly. What doesn’t make sense to me is how each time a child goes missing in the forest making the remaining children have to play elsewhere; why do they always have to play Checkers? When a child goes missing, why are there always an ODD number of children left so one has to play Checkers with the "ghost" of the child who went missing? Then, fifteen years later when the EXACT same thing happens, why are there always an EVEN number of children left leaving the two ghost children to play Checkers together? OK, I get the point the author is trying to make. But, I think by trying to make the reader believe there are either; always the same number of children in the town OR there are always an even number of children, followed by an odd number then by an even number again, and on and on, is too distracting and confusing for most readers and takes attention away from the main theme of the story. And we have to assume this rarity happens every time a child goes missing in the nearby forest in fifteen year increments! Am I being too critical or did you find yourself overly thinking about the number of children left in the town always being odd, then even, then odd again even though it happens in fifteen year increments? I truly think this story would have made a beautiful poem if done right! I used to write so many poems and short stories. I don’t know what happened… besides my life getting in the way! I would really love to get back into short story writing. I started writing stories in the horror genre at about thirteen years old, maybe younger! I started writing poems way earlier in many different genres. I have a really strong and detailed imagination along with the gift of gab and excellent writing skills. (It has just always came really easy to me!) I can take five full pages of notes during a three minute presentation! Please LMK if you have any suggestions about HOW I can get my brain back into its creative mode! How do you come up with such detailed stories? Do you come up with the main idea and work the rest of the details in? I guess you could work some of your ideas in together or… well, I’m sure you have MANY WAYS! Please let me know if you have any tips on how to start getting back into a creative mindset that I had to leave mostly behind due to my career and having kids! Some of these are good, very good stories and I even listen to the crap stories too because the narration is excellent. I especially liked the story about the guy whose chemical poison building was making him hallucinate. example of sht story was,somehow giant trees came into play after kids went missing and mixed with crap poetry and weird kid behavior. Gosh I wish those type stories would go away.
