Throwback to when I picked skyrim up on launch day at Best Buy. The hype in the days leading up to the game can’t be put into words, and the memories I made playing this even surpassed that
Bethesda really nailed the feel of the open world of Skyrim in ways that still haven't really been replicated, even 7 years later. It feels so lived in and alive, even more than other great open world games like GTA 5 and the Witcher 3, it's hard to pinpoint exactly what I'm saying but if you've played skrim you would know. Every single NPC you come across in every village and city will always have a unique name and occupation , much of the time they will have a backstory that you can unearth by talking to them even if they're not tied to any quest, that coupled with the rich lore of the elder scrolls universe and the huge amount of areas richly detailed like caves that also usually have there own interesting story that you can discover, this makes a game that is extremely interesting to go through and just explore, its the most organic single player games I've ever seen other than the Witcher 3, and I loved the Witcher 3 as much as the next person, but it also didn't really replicate Skyrim in this regard. The reviewer really hit the nail on the head when he said that the world feels like its been around long before the player arrives, and will continue to exist long after the player leaves. The game really is quite a creative achievement and definitely is one of the best games ever made, and hopefully, the best parts about Skyrim will be something Bethesda will be able to replicate in future elder scrolls games, whenever those come out.
Ha the people saying skyrim is 'terrible' because of the flaws in it. No game has ever even approached the level of immersion and depth or world creation as skyrim. Perhaps there are frustrating aspects; but to claim outright that it is a terrible game is just idiotic. Perhaps i'm a fan boy, but if skyrim is terrible, i'd be interested to hear what they would call aliens colonial marines or lococycle. Idiots crowd the gaming landscape, buying angry birds for 60$ on next gen consoles. The amount of love and sheer man hours that went into skyrim are worthy of respect, something it seems many are too foolish to realize. Fus.
C.S. Ewens mate Morrowind by far had more depth than Skyrim. But I get what u mean. Skyrim really tapped a market that hadn't yet seen such a lore heavy universe be adapted into a game that was still accessible and easy to get into.
Fuck man... This game WAS my life for a long time after I got it, I am not in my prime, but now a Skyrim is what I was called now... :) Plan on going back on master, as my normal wood elf. :)
Roughly half of them are, yes... Then you see the hell in the gaming community: COD... The very thing that will kill the gaming industry like what happened back in '83...
I am honestly quite disappointed with the combat system. Yes, nearly every aspect of the game is basically perfect except the minor glitches, but after playing other rpg games like assassin's creed, the witcher, and most of all dark souls, coming back to try combat in skyrim feels boring, repetitive, and even unsatisfactory.
I never saw the appeal to the game because I don't really like the whole fantasy theme, I prefer Fallout's theme. I bought the game and all the DLC's for 20 bucks on Xbox, part of the deals with gold. It was cheap so I thought I would try it out... I regret buying the game because I am HOOKED! A few bugs here and there, but damn there's so much to do. I'm actually overwhelmed by it, I finish a quest and end up activating 10 more quests.
Same thing happened to me lol, I was into Fallout’s lore lot more but decided to try Skyrim simce I love The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit movies, so I decided to give Skyrim a try. Favorite. Game. Ever
***** yah i'll just spend a $1000 on a PC for mods with such exclusives such as Bus Simulator instead of a $400 machine with such lousy exclsuvies like Uncharted
Michael Colby PC has more exclusives than Uncharted. Minecraft was PC only for a good few years, as was terraria. We have FTL, The Forest, AvP 2000, Civ 5/Beyond Earth, Starmade, Starbound, Unturned, GOOD CS:GO, Killing Floor, Audiosurf. The list goes on.
DJ_Jellyfish Quantity does NOT mean quality. I could care less how many more PC has, I do not have the time or money to play a thousand exclusives, 10 great exclusives is more than enough and I would prefer those 10 great exclusives to a thousand lame, indie games that would bore me to tears.
Michael Colby Yeah man so many bad exclusives compared to halo, TLOU, and Forza. 3 good series on consoles Fucking 3. docs.google.com/document/d/1Oak-3zZAQdud79EA_x_Ewp9elUFdPb8RSFbsY-uw5sM/edit

I'm currently downloading Starfield, and decided to peep some old Skyrim reviews but damn these old IGN reviews were way more entertaining than the newer ones. It's much more raw and feels a lot like watching a Fextralife spoiler free review.
Brokenname hope they can redeem themselves when ES6 comes out, i feel like Elder Scroll games are the only games in their franchise that can get them back on track again..
Same goes with Ubisoft. Old Assassins Creed games, Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six, Driver SF, Prince of Persia, Farcry 3 and now, they themselves don’t know what they’re doing
I've been playing Skyrim since around 2012, and let me tell you, it's amazing indeed. Sure, some bugs here-and-there (for example, not being able to climb up mountains. That seems to be a big one on my part.), and repetitive voice acting (the voices are nearly the same for everyone!), but it's a great game. It never tries to be boring. There's always something for you to do. There's perhaps millions of quests you can do, and they never cease. The soundtrack is also very jaw-dropping. The landscape and mountains are beautiful, and there are plenty of items for you to find. So, in my opinion, Skyrim deserves the rating! Anyone who hasn't played Skyrim, but likes gaming, should definitely check it out.
I call bullshit. This game deserves a 10. With the dynamic character design to the AMAZING soundtrack, this game is still my favorite game. (Hint I'm 13)
There will never be another game that I wish I could experience for the first time again more than Skyrim. The first time I saw the dragon burn down Helgen, after I escaped out of that cave, and when I was released out into that vast world filled with unexplored, unknown content. It was such an amazing experience that I wish I could get back again. Can’t wait until what Bethesda comes up with to top this game.
elder scrolls online was just the worst thing ever i think its best it stays single player and maybe a little coop other than tht stay how it should be.
@@Em-hm6jp Skyrim is definitely the most fun game of the past 10 years though. I’d rather have a game like skyrim where it makes you feel a certain way with exploration and identity, rather than games that don’t have that but do everything else right like no bugs
This is literally one of the best, if not the best, game I have ever played. It would be much appreciated if they made a remastered version of this for current gen consoles; I miss this game!
I have played this game for tons and tons of hours... I love it just as much as when I started. The game is so well put together and is about as beautiful as any epic LOTR movie made. I love that no matter how much I play it, it never ever gets old. LOVE IT!!! Wish I could find more game like this as I would love to change around a little to break the monotony. Although IGN don't do good reviews sometimes, this is a well done review. Plus, I agree with the outcome verdict 9.5. Near perfection. Thanks Bethesda.
For a soon to be decade old game, this game (the base ps3/360 game) still looks amazing! Skyrim was like my first love and will always be special to me.
This review is absurd. 9.5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats 0.5 points of excellence, dragonborn flawlessness, crafty sneak thiefs, arrow in the knees, bedding lydia, hidden passages into settlements, the lusty argonian series, and your reality becoming this game that IGN DID NOT ACCOUNT FOR!!!!!
@@dnaderelmasry7973 idk man I played serval versions of Skyrim’s and for literally hundreds of hours and there were no bugs that hurt the experience that much. The biggest I experienced was the “blood on Ice” quest which is always bugged out. But it was overall and irrelevant and small quest anyway

You never feel that you grow into defeating them, you just hit the trigger button until they fall over, almost every time. Eventually they just become an annoyance.
So yeah, there's a whole lot of stuff there, a whole lot of nothing.
Are you saying that Morrowind is good, or are you making a stupid joke about how I am describing MW and not Skyrim?
Joe Cleary Youre rocking those nostalgia glasses hard lmao
Throwback to when I picked skyrim up on launch day at Best Buy. The hype in the days leading up to the game can’t be put into words, and the memories I made playing this even surpassed that
first 10 minutes of playing this game gave me chills...everything about this game is amazing
Funny how this game gets 9.5 and GTA 5 gets 10.
And I love GTA 5 and was playing it the second time when I started playing Skyrim last month. GTA 5 doesn't even come close to how good Skyrim is.
IKR!
GTA 5 is much better. Of course, both the GTA and the Skyrim fanbases think their games are masterpieces, when niether of them actually are.
There's a difference between an enjoyable game and a good game.GTA is a good game,Skyrim is an enjoyable game.
Gta 5 , everyone can play and get into , skyrim is bit of patience required to admire
Skyrim gets a 10/10 for me. I have it along side The Witcher 3, as two of the best games I've ever had the pleasure of playing.
9.5 really skyrim should get 15 out of 10
Chuka amur NOOOOOOO.....16 out of 10
Chuka amur 999/111
Chuka amur too many glitches to be that good
R u define games by glitches?
plays properly for me.
Skyrim is the best game ever made period.
+maso zane until you actually play the game
Reborned V but then you play it tho...
+Peroxide I've played it and I can tell you it's the best rpg
Reborned V but then you played it...
+Peroxide you're trying too bad to be a troll. Go away
Who wouldve thought 12 years ago this game would still get talked about. One of the best of all time.
5 years have gone past and Skyrim is still the best game I have ever have the privilage to play. I want the next Elder Scrolls game to be very similar
Five years have passed since you said this...and the next elder Scrolls has only just been announced 🤣
Fus.
C.S. Ewens I think Witcher 3 was more immersive, but Skyrim's pretty good.
C.S. Ewens mate Morrowind by far had more depth than Skyrim. But I get what u mean. Skyrim really tapped a market that hadn't yet seen such a lore heavy universe be adapted into a game that was still accessible and easy to get into.
C.S. Ewens what u talking about? Angry birds for 60 on ps4 ? Youre talking out ur butt
C.S. Ewens Couldn't Agree More..
C.S. Ewens 👍
This game changed my life. Its a 10.
Fuck man... This game WAS my life for a long time after I got it, I am not in my prime, but now a Skyrim is what I was called now... :) Plan on going back on master, as my normal wood elf. :)
What life XD
"I play video games not because I don't have a life... I play them because I chose to have many." XD
i know i was just kidding i play video games cuz they are awsome two
Roughly half of them are, yes... Then you see the hell in the gaming community: COD... The very thing that will kill the gaming industry like what happened back in '83...
That 9.5 score eventually changed into a perfect 10! So if you haven't played this game, GET IT!
+Alex da Vinci Everyone in the world has played this game -.-'
igor sarti nah people are recently rediscovering nes games, sega games, gamecube games etc etc
Alex da Vinci Man...I'm brazilian and even here everyone played this game so much That they don't even wanna hear about it anymore.
+igor sarti i dont think you speak for everyone. there are people who havent played this game, period!
***** youre going to be addicted to skyrim for a loooong time :-)
Back when IGN reviews felt like a friend recommending you games.
Your friends recommend overrated games with gamebreaking glitches that not even reloading your save file fixes?
bought thelegendary edition on boxing day. Oly 20 bucks. Best 20 bucks ive spent in my life.
Same! Got my legendary too! It was well worth the money!
PixelJoy i got the game for free from nosteam but seeming how good it was i brought it again
kordian duda bought*
okok sorry im not english
Easily one of the 5 best games of all time in my opinion.
What do you think of Dark Souls?
I've never played it although now you mention it I might check it out.
devoyinator
Its just as good but you'll probably rage a bit more.
Fallout is up there too
devoyinator I am seriously addicted to Dark Souls. I even dream about it sometimes.
Who’s still playing Skyrim in 2024?
Everyone
Darksiders is much better
Me
@@AbduHarakat cry about it. Oblivion is even better
Yo!!
This game was 10 Out of 10 for all the game reviewer's
@Some One on PS?
Favorite. Game. Ever
I hope they remaster this game for PS4/Xbone
3 good series on consoles
Fucking 3.

Orsyx Gaming lol ok bro
lets just talk about PS4 exclsuves on it now or will be on it in the distant future
Uncharted 4
The Last of Us
Infamous Second Son
Bloodborne
No Man Sky
The Order 1886
any future Little Big Planet or Killzone game as well
Even in 2022, THE SKYRIM still is the special place of my heart.
I'm currently downloading Starfield, and decided to peep some old Skyrim reviews but damn these old IGN reviews were way more entertaining than the newer ones. It's much more raw and feels a lot like watching a Fextralife spoiler free review.
He said visually stunning details.. watching this in 2019.
yeah was thinking the same xD
Compare it to games of 2011 and before, it is stunning
haha. Right? Now in 2020 with reboot Modern warfare, this game is looking old. beautiful, but old.
This game was beautiful at it’s time, it still is.
u can mod it to look better than current gen games.
2011: Skyrim is the #1 game of 2011 and is 9.5
2019: $100 buggy subscription for buggy fallout 76
How far Bethesda has gone from loved to vilified.
Brokenname hope they can redeem themselves when ES6 comes out, i feel like Elder Scroll games are the only games in their franchise that can get them back on track again..
Same goes with Ubisoft. Old Assassins Creed games, Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six, Driver SF, Prince of Persia, Farcry 3 and now, they themselves don’t know what they’re doing
this masterpiece deserves a 10 .. period !!!!
MARHVIN XII psych boi go play Zelda
Both game series are phenomenal and both deserve 10/10's
Morrowind and Obvilion is better
Its THE best game of 2011, and one of THE best games ever.
David MacNeil I checked the top games of 2011 and most of them came out with Skyrim being better than Dark souls.
LeonXTaticzX
Skyrim was more noob friendly which would explain that.
I like simple games so Assasin Creed for me. Well it aint really that simple but I like those kind of games. Skyrim makes me get headaches.
But it is true that Skyrim has harder combat than Dark Souls. So I guess if it's combat than dark soul wins.
David MacNeil No, in Dark Souls and you rip dragons out of the sky and steal sweet rolls and get arrow's to then knee? I think not, No lolly gagging.
Skyrim in 2022 anyone?
Me
It is indeed a rare game. No game has come close to this beautiful masterpiece since. Roll on elder scrolls VI
It’s 2024 and I’m playing this on my Nintendo Switch, still a masterpiece
Me too 😁
9.5? Really!? Skyrim doesn't deserve it. Give it 12/10, and yes, Skyrim deserve it.
+Syahroni Hermawan Yeah, and they gave MGS5 a 10!
That's bullshit!
Skyrim deserved a 4/10 the combat is boring and there are still bugs 4 years after release
@@TheHaHaNinja the bugs are harmless though
6/9 too much trees
3.5/10, water too wet.
1/10 not call of duty
+joe foley really
+Joxa Gaming Then you haven't played Oblivion... Like... holy shit
*many
8 years later and still feel one of best games ever made playing a werewolf breton warrior as we speak just got remaster
I call bullshit. This game deserves a 10. With the dynamic character design to the AMAZING soundtrack, this game is still my favorite game. (Hint I'm 13)
I have. I almost hurled my game disc across the earth.
I'm iffy on Crysis. Crysis 2 was awesome but Crysis 3 felt like a complete repeat.
MasterOfMadness31 It sucks outside of it being big and having that badass soundtrack.
MasterOfMadness31 im 13 too :3 and skyrim is my favourite game
Ahmed Hasan Skyrim is an amazing game they just for got the MOTHERFUCKING LOADING SCREEN'S
Fortnite: 9.6
Skyrim: 9.5
Witcher 3: 9.3

Tlou2 10 kekw
@@manabismanabis7472 oh no no no
Skyrims over 5 years old and its still popular, that's when you know a masterpiece of a game has be created
12 years later anyone?
Yup
The contrast between this game (made 12 years ago) and Starfeilds review is crazy
Who's still playing in 2019?
2020 soon
Twice in pc, my 3rd time in switch now
Feb 2020 mods are such heaven blessings
Skyrim is NOT a 9.5. It's a 11. Considering the fact that it came out. 11/11/2011 get it?
Aaron Johnson stop
Aaron Johnson 👍
Just bought it 😀
Not calling it my favorite game ever, but it's up there. Been playing since early 2012 and I still come back to this game
I'm still playing in 2024 on my old ps3..
Must say the game is legendary and I can safely say it's better the the elder scrolls online.
I 100% agree
Well only the pvp is good I guess and the ost is quite good, other than that the game is not that good.
elder scrolls online was just the worst thing ever i think its best it stays single player and maybe a little coop other than tht stay how it should be.
Who Still Playing This Masterpiece In 2022 ?
About to play this for the first time on game pass
Enjoy :)
Wait the verdict is so stupid 9.5 you said it yourself in the verdict nothing was wrong thats 10.0
Your wish came true. Look what you've done! Have you had enough yet!?
The year is 2089 and Bethesda has released Skyrim: Remastered Ultimate Platinum Anniversary version for the AI-powered air conditioners
@@AnandRaj-gn5zb my expectations just keep getting exceeded since 8 years ago
2023 anyone?
man, when my PS3 broke I was so pissed. I had this for PS3. I can't wait until I get my PC, I'm getting this without even thinking twice.
Skyrim feels like home. That's why people always return to it after all these years.
No other game is nearly as awesome…
this is 5 years old and people are still pissy about it getting a 9.5 instead of 10? Damn you people are sad.
You just don't know
You wouldn't know!
Is it worth it to buy today in ps3? I'm planning on getting it
+Namble Is it worth playing after all this years?
+Ezekiel Torres definitely
And now almost 10 years later I'm playing this in VR with mods. Crazy.
Greatest game of all time imo 🙌🌊👑
fallout 4 will and is going to be better
fallout 4 will and is going to be better
it could very well be but we'll see when skyrim 2 comes out in a couple of years
+eric vargas Skyrim is the 5th game in the series so it won't be Skyrim 2 it will be more like the elder scrolls 6 _________
+eric vargas up there with Ocarina of time for me
I still have my receipt for this game. I bought it from GameStop on 11/15/11. Cost me 62.99. It was the first Elder Scrolls I played. It felt like a combo of GTA and Final Fantasy. No doubt one of the best games I ever played.
This game is something I will always cherish in my life. Everything about it is beautiful
This is the best game ever made. Not GTA nor even fallout 3 can beat this perfection.
Although IGN don't do good reviews sometimes, this is a well done review. Plus, I agree with the outcome verdict 9.5. Near perfection. Thanks Bethesda.
It seems, you love this game. And Im wondering which DLC should I buy. Dawnguard or the Dragonborn DLC.
3100Phoenix® Who doesn't like this game? Besides the sissies of COD players.
Shaun Vega I don't.. Just saying
antiguy360 Hey, we have our opinions.
Shaun Vega Very true.
Pfffft, it's easily a 10/10 game, best RPG ever made, hands down
12 years later, just only hearing the soundtrack make me want to play it again
Skyrim will go down in the history as the best game ever made I would give Skyrim a 10 out of 10
For a soon to be decade old game, this game (the base ps3/360 game) still looks amazing! Skyrim was like my first love and will always be special to me.
Why isn't this game a 9.5 it should earn a 11/10
This review is absurd.
Bugs... they are everywhere , I had to restart the game multiple times with the unofficial patch just so the horse won't bug out of existence
10/10 master piece. When this gets remastered do another review or somthing
It's interesting watching this review in 2019 when this game is already a classic.
