- The Alternator is a very important component of a car’s electrical system. Without it the battery will not have anyway to be charged. In this video I will go step by step how I replaced an alternator in a 2012 Kia Sorento.

The bottom bolt doesn't have to be completely removed from the alternator. It just needs to be loosened

I found it easier to pull the alternator out where the rad cap is. I removed about a cup of antifreeze with syringe from the radiator (cap removed)....then while cap was removed, it was easy to collapse the rad hose (next to rad cap) while a friend pulls the alternator up and pass the rad hose. Not even a mark on the hose (very rugged). The new alternator went in even easier the same way. If doing this yourself, then use a hose clamp to collapse the rad hose (right at area where the goes into upper part of radiator). Removing and wiggling the alternator around to get it out the other way drove me nuts. This was much easier.
On the v6 model, the bottom bolt on the alternator sits in a slot, no need to completely remove the bolt. Looks like this may have been slotted too.
Dude I was strugggglinnggg with the clip and I paused it right before you gave that tip. Lol I used pliers.

DId you get a P0106 after reconnecting the battery and running for a few minutes? I did this Alternator replacement using he method in your video on my 2010 Santa Fe 2.4L, I did have to remove the top rad hose to get the alternator out. But, it did make getting the Power Steering pump back in much easier than it was coming out. I broke the hose off the intake actuator runner solenoid getting the Power Steering pump out and had the battery disconnected for a few days while I waited for the part. But, it seems common to get a P0106 after an ECU drain from a battery disconnect. I have had this P0106 since I have put it all back together. Thanks for the video too, much help for those of us without a lift. Hyundai quoted me $858+tax (970 CAD) to replace the alternator - cost me $280 all in including the intake actuator runner solenoid to do it myself.

Had my mechanic do mine and he was ready to throw in the towel a couple of times. Broke the exhaust valve plungertrying to disconnect but plastic epoxy works wonders I guess

I would like to just change my charging wire to a bigger gauge to improve the efficiency for a car audio system. Do you have any tips on doing just that instead of the entire alternator replacement. I know this next question is basic but I am assuming the charging wire is the one that is bolted in and not the clip one. Is that correct?

Mine had an alternator, engine, air compressor belt. The alternator is part of the tension on mine. The top mounting bolt has the tension adjustment.
Ended up being more of a pain to get out of the engine compartment

In my car cold start alternator belt noise but when cold not came any noise it's normal or not
The belt should not be making noise. Might need to be changed

Yea this is one of the hardest alternators out there
Buddy the hardest part is taking it out and putting the new one in. And you couldn’t even show us how exactly I removed so much and still can’t get it out.
If you pay attention to the video, the engine has to actually be jacked up to position the power steering pump bracket. This creates the required clearance.
