I'm an 80s baby and I love me some Angela Winbush! When Video Soul used to come on, "Treat You Right" was on on the countdown and my banger lol. I'm glad she is doing better health wise and still out there sangin'. God bless her 💜
All of these AMAZING Angelas! Thank you for profiling the LOVELY Miss Winbush! Ever since I was an 80s kid, her hit Angel STILL gives me the chills. Rene' and Angela's My First Love is a HEART WRENCHING MASTERPIECE! Flowers to Miss Winbush. 💐 💐💐💐💐❤❤❤❤❤
I first found her name on the credits of songs on Sheena Easton CD The Lover in Me. I was shock a female producer and song writer did it all by herself. Then I found out her music video No More Tears, I was blown away. What a beautiful and talented artist. She was and still is a real deal.
God I love some Angela! Rene and Angela “I’ll be good” was a song I sung when I knew I was going to be in trouble as a kid! You don’t have to cry and, Your Smile still makes me tear up. And chile..I will never forget how much my mom played that Sharp album! From the 314…STL we love you Angela!
That was so cold and callous for what he did to her and it seems like to this present day (3 decades later), he is STILL angry and bitter cause I remember watching Angela's episode of "Unsung" and it was revealed that he refused to participate in the interview
thank u so much for all this hard work to share insight. i had treat u rite on vinyl and certainly played it a few times. i didnt get the chance to bury my head into a mixtape career, sadly, though i had the gift and assets. my mind has always been too diversified for my available clock minutes
Come on Angela another sanging sanger'. I still feel like she deserves more credit, but the classics she has will NEVER run dry esp in the black community. I'll be good... greatest song eva!
A most great upload!!!!! Rene & Angela Info 📰: Ivan Rene Moore was born on August 19, 1959 in Los Angeles, California. Angela Winbush was born on January 18, 1955 in St Louis, Missouri. Before meeting Rene Moore, Angela Winbush went to college at Howard University to study architecture before changing her major to music. Angela Winbush performed as a singer with a group called: "Hot Tea", while she attended Howard University. One of the other members of the group: "Hot Tea", was singer Tawatha Agee, who later joined the Funk/Soul band: Mtume. In 1977, Angela Winbush recorded a demo tape. She shopped it to various record labels with no success but, through a personal introduction furnished by respected industry veteran, Wayne K Garfield, the demo was heard by New York disc jockey Gary Byrd, who made the call that landed Angela Winbush a spot in Stevie Wonder's backing vocal group: Wonderlove. Becoming Stevie Wonder's protégé, she learned a great deal about writing and arranging songs. While in Los Angeles with Stevie Wonder, Angela Winbush met singer Rene Moore. The two formed the duo Rene & Angela later that year. They soon came to the realization that they could be successful as duo music writers and producers for others as well, and began pursuing that goal. During Rene & Angela's early years, they were asked to produce songs for Janet Jackson's 1982 self-titled debut album: Janet Jackson. One of the songs: "Young Love", became Janet Jackson's first Top 10 R&B hit reaching #6 six on the Billboard music chart. They also wrote exclusively for Stephanie Mills, who forged a close friendship with Angela Winbush. Their song: "I Have Learned To Respect The Power Of Love", gave Stephanie Mills her first-ever #1 R&B single, in 1985. Angela Winbush would later write another Stephanie Mills number one R&B hit with the 1989 song: "Something In The Way You Make Me Feel". Rene & Angela released their debut album: Rene & Angela, in 1980, followed by the albums: Wall To Wall (1982) and Rise (1983. During this period they scored two Top 20 R&B hit singles: "I Love You More" (#14 R&B - 1981) and "My First Love” (#12 R&B - 1983). Rene & Angela, over the course of their career as a group, recorded three albums for Capitol Records before leaving for Mercury Records and releasing their final album as a group in 1985. Despite the success of their 1985 album on Mercury Records, which produced four Top 10 R&B music chart hits: "Save Your Love (For #1)" (#1), "Your Smile" (#1), "You Don't Have To Cry" (#2) and I'll Be Good" (#4), the duo had disbanded by the end of 1986. Disagreements and conflicts caused tension with the two singers. Rene Moore claimed the source of tension was due to Angela Winbush lending her songwriting and production talents to other artists - most notably, The Isley Brothers, with whom she wrote and produced their 1987 album: Smooth Sailin'. However, Angela Winbush said the demise of the group was due to Rene Moore's violent behavior- including an onstage incident in Cleveland, Ohio in 1986, as well as Angela Winbush singing sole lead on the song: "Your Smile", which became a #1 R&B music chart hit. Angela Winbush said of the dissolution of their partnership: "It was a shame to break up just when we finally got hot. PolyGram didn't want us to break up. But there was no choice. I couldn't work with him anymore." The duo had a less than amicable split and the animosity was so intense that Rene Moore and Angela Winbush had to communicate through attorneys. The pair even disagrees over their personal relationship. Angela Winbush said they were dating when they first met, but Rene Moore said their relationship has always been strictly business. Angela Winbush said she didn’t want to leave the duo last year, but was forced out by what she described as Rene Moore’s “violent behavior” on at least two occasions - including once on stage at a 1986 concert in Cleveland. Rene Moore acknowledged that he and Angela Winbush frequently argued, but denied striking her. Both Rene Moore and Angela Winbush went on to successful solo careers as performers, songwriters, and producers. Rene Moore lent his songwriting and production talents to Michael Jackson's 1991 Dangerous and 1995 HIStory albums and later formed Multi-Media Communications, which operated radio stations from 2008 to 2012. Angela Winbush went on to score five Top 10 R&B hits as a solo artist and wrote and/or produced songs for The Isley Brothers, Sheena Easton, Stephanie Mills and Lalah Hathaway, among many others. On June 26, 1993, Angela Winbush and Ronald Isley, 13 years her senior, married. In 1996, Angela inbush produced the bulk of The Isley Brothers' album: Mission To Please, which included the hit song: "Floatin' On Your Love", a duet between Angela Winbush and Ron Isley. Angela Winbush continued to collaborate with the Isley Brothers until their 2001 album: Eternal, with Angela Winbush notably only contributing to 3 tracks as their marriage began to cool off. In 2002, Angela Winbush and Ronald Isley quietly divorced. In 2002, Rene & Angela's song: "I'll Be Good", was featured in the video game 🎮: "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City". During a 2006 interview on the Christian TV show: Gospel Of Music With Jeff Majors, Angela Winbush disclosed that she had overcome Stage 3 ovarian cancer after six months of chemotherapy in 2003. During the interview she revealed that her undying faith in God got her through having a cyst (benign) removed from her breast, the ending of her marriage to Ronald Isley in divorce, and her struggle with depression. After years of absence from mainstream TV, in March 2010, Angela Winbush performed her song: "Angel", live on the BET late night talk show: The Mo'Nique Show. In 2010 Angela Winbush had her life/career documented in an episode of the TV One series: Unsung. Rene Moore declined to be interviewed for her Unsung episode. Angela Winbush still performs her music live on stage in 2024. Miscellaneous Notes 🗃: Angela Winbush has performed her music on many TV shows - TV specials including: Soul Train, The 2nd Annual Soul Train Music Awards, It's Showtime At The Apollo, 3rd Annual Black Music Honors, The Mo'Nique Show, The Music Game, Soul Music Festival: Part 3, Top Of The Pops, Ebony/Jet Showcase, Dionne And Friends, Solid Gold, Lou Rawls Parade Of Stars and The Tom Joyner Sky Show. @Juicy Pop: Some of your reporting is wrong…!Angela Winbush didn’t graduate from Howard until 1979…Moreover she sang with Wonderlove while still at Howard University…Also Angela Winbush wrote “I’ve Learned to Respect the Power of Love” for Alton McClain & Destiny in 1978…!
Worked with her brother bk in STL n attended her Dad’s church….met her at her brother’s funeral…sadly, he committed suicide….we had worked together the day before he did, n had even hung out , chatting for awhile after work…next day he did it…took me years to get over wondering if I had missed signs of his distress….
Real thing /treat u right are some of my favorites from her because they came at a time when the game had changed but she proved she was still a valuable name in the industry and fit right on in there. Same thing with klymaxx when they came back with "good love".

my mom loved her and Sade and Debarge . They had good music when I was a kid. Singers were so good looking in those days . Now they just look I don’t know ordinary. I only remember the song Your Smile . But I know there are others I just don’t recall due to my age at the time
Angela Winbush is a living legend. Too bad…Rene Moore was an abusive and cruel man who was jealous of her success. We glad we didn’t see his music career last because nobody wanted him around. We just wish they would buried the hatchet and performed together again.
Angela is a great songwriter, but the SLAPS were with Rene. Even Angel sounds like Smile, so the production side probably was Rene. She definitely was the voice. Still a great singer
Maybe this was focused on her main points & mainstream hits 🤷🏾 I totally forgot the P.Diddy remix of "Float On" it's a great jam regardless of he sucks.
Angela Winbush deserves all her flowers 💐
BIG time.
STRONGLY AGREE❤ Loved her since 'You Don't Have To Cry'😊
Look how he talks about her Renee is the real "Diva! And he was jealous of her!
actually miss this era of celebrity. talented, educated, an heir of sophistication and class. what a time!
Indeed! Hope this will repeat itself in our lifetime. Some are pushing back against ratchet behavior.
I grew up during this era. There was black talented artists all over radio and BET. These artists today lack talent and class. It's sad.
She still looks amazing!!
God bless her! So glad she CONQUERED ovarian cancer!!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
The lady of the 80s her and Anita 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Sade 2
Yea, but you can't leave Stephanie, Patti, Whitney, Janet, and Regina out of the conversation, though.
@@losrob27 yeap
Too many to name in the 80 don't forget Tina Marie
Wow and it seemed like all those hits on the Rise album were #1 caliber
Quick Story : My aunt & Angela went to school together and they sung together once Angela blew up she would sent my aunt concert tickets when she came in town to Stl
That’s nice.
My grandmas had albums of Rene& Angela and I believe it was “Wall to Wall” one too. She definitely deserves all her flowers and has a beautiful voice.
The fallout was so bad he refused to be interviewed for an Unsung episode
Do you think if he was as successful or noticable as her that he would of?
I was pissed about that
@@chrismorale_ Idk. I think given how bad the fallout was he still wouldn't regardless.
@@chrismorale_ He has been very successful just most of it is behind the scenes as a writer, producer...
no he didn't . it must be true all the stuff she said cause he hasn't come out to dispute nothing
l love her voice. Beautiful and talented. Thank you for this 🤓🍿☕

She’s living proof that black don’t crack. She still looks damn good
I love her❤ One of my favorite singers
Mom turned on "Real Thang" coming home yesterday evening. You were right on time!
Float On Remix is another jam as well!
She is still gorgeous ❤
I knew about the abuse from Rene thanks to family and later the Unsung episode. I love Angela, she has one of the most beautiful voices I've heard.
That was so cold and callous for what he did to her and it seems like to this present day (3 decades later), he is STILL angry and bitter cause I remember watching Angela's episode of "Unsung" and it was revealed that he refused to participate in the interview
Rene Moore pretty became Ike Turner.
I clicked super fast! Love her!! 😍
Same ♥️💯

Could you please make a video about Gregory Abbott?
Daaaaaaaaamn. I think a man denying his relationship with a woman is crazier than she to him. That probably was a kick in the ass for her.
Yeah I doubt they were able to keep a professional relationship together all the time
She’s always been gorgeous 😍

Hey can you please do a video on what happened to Whiteboy from Chitown
my mom loved her and Sade and Debarge . They had good music when I was a kid. Singers were so good looking in those days . Now they just look I don’t know ordinary. I only remember the song Your Smile . But I know there are others I just don’t recall due to my age at the time
You are a legend
*a multi talented babe❤*
Angela Winbush is a living legend. Too bad…Rene Moore was an abusive and cruel man who was jealous of her success. We glad we didn’t see his music career last because nobody wanted him around. We just wish they would buried the hatchet and performed together again.
You are so soso sososo amazing
Legend 💯 ❤️🔥
Rene abused Angela much like how Ike abused Tina.
Wow
I don’t know Rene was an abuser😩 ooh no.😟
Angela does not have any children with Ronald

Why didn't her solo career really take off?
You are the great eat
He was too old for her. And, she never had a biological daughter by him.
1:07 angela winbush.
1:34 she my favorite angel 😇🙏.
Angela is a great songwriter, but the SLAPS were with Rene. Even Angel sounds like Smile, so the production side probably was Rene. She definitely was the voice. Still a great singer
Why not mention the Diddy remixed version of float on by the Isley Brothers
Maybe this was focused on her main points & mainstream hits 🤷🏾 I totally forgot the P.Diddy remix of "Float On" it's a great jam regardless of he sucks.
You are a power house
