We are showcasing episodes not viewed in decades. Starting from Season 11 (1982), this is the first season when animal furs were no longer offered as prizes, supporting Bob’s advocacy of animal rights in memory of his wife Dorothy Jo.
To celebrate what would have been Bob Barker's 100th birthday, the channel is also featuring episodes from the debut season of The "New" Price Is Right in 1972.

Words cannot describe how much I miss Bob Barker. What a legend. My favorite man to watch when home sick from school.
It's very rare that this episode and the previous (0205D) had back-to-back perfect shows, even during the half-hour days.
Interesting stat. I wonder how many of the 30 minute shows did go 3-for-3.
@@slentbob3208 That I don't know - it's hard to say how many due to the amount of fur coats that were offered on the show back then and/or that GSN didn't air all half-hour episodes that had no fur, plus the nighttime shows that were a half-hour long also need to be considered.
@@graigmellon7874I guess the only way to watch the half hour episodes of The Price Is Right is to watch it on Buzzr, which I can't get.
Bob Barker had a warmth and friendliness no one could match. No matter how smart or dumb a contestant was Bob always seemed to be on their side and rooting for them every step of the way! There just will NEVER be another Bob Barker!
At least she was an honest contestant. Donna's big dream came true.
Bob's overly jovial spirit is so different from his sarcastic 80s-mid 90s form or his cranky/grumpy late 90s-retirement form. He's very much Monty Hall at this point. I think I preferred his 80s-90s style, which felt a little more genuine.
I believe that when he lost his wife Dorothy Jo in 1981, that took a huge toll on him. Then when he faced that lawsuit from model Dian Parkinson in the 90s, followed by another one from Holly Holstrom, that was even more devastating. Finally in the 2000s, as he was nearing his 80s and dealing with chronic pain in his body, due in part to numerous contestants who picked him up, spun him around, and almost slammed him to the ground, that did it.😢

Im not surprised but i have never seen a 8 track setup on the front of the tv like that ive seen the stereo speakers and turntable with am fm before but it a much larger unit

26” was $900. I remember only being able to afford the smaller model when I moved into my first apartment. Was a real good tv though.

The shell of this game (Bonus game) is the ONLY surviving set piece that is still used on the show today (not counting the games inner electrics. It now has an HD monitor that was installed in it in 2011.)

It seemed that during Bob Barker's era, the contestants who had 1, 2, or 3 right won in this game and with Drew Carey, the contestants seem to lose such as the PhD student Lilian who got 3 out of 4 right. Has season 52 with Drew Carey finished?
@@susanb2015 I don't dislike Drew Carey honestly. He's not Bob Barker, but he's a good host, much, much better than the first three or four seasons when he was so awkward and cringy. Love Bob, but he sometimes was a bit of a sleaze and watching some of these 70s/80s episodes, some of his behavior borders on pervy and just inappropriate. I've never sensed Drew being that way at all. No, he doesn't build up suspense like Bob or has the charisma, charm and smoothness of Bob, but he holds his own. The show is just different in 2024. Much more rushed, a lot of "designer/brand name" prizes, the games are harder to win, there isn't much in the way of getting to know the models or George Gray or even the contestants, but in fairness, that started going away on the Bob version by the late 90s. I still like the show, still watch the show, and think overall it's the same show it was, and that's why it's still around.
