The studio audience never hears any of that music playing in the background during the taping of a show. They only hear the buzzers if they are wrong in a game. The actual taping of the show is wild, but it's nothing like you see on the final TV version.
I bet Barker wore a hole/spot standing in that same darn place for 50 years!!!!😆😆😆
5:00 ❤️those shoes in 2019😁
everyones looking at Patricia's skirt. meanwhile Macs is the real beauty.
When they called her down, at first I thought she was a man, short haircut and all that. After all, I heard 'Max'. Macs is not a name I've heard before.
@@Tiqerboy i am pretty sure her name was Max short for Maxine
she had that brooke shields look, *BOOM*

At the 2:56 mark, you can tell the game is Five Price Tags.
OMG 1973 prices if only I had the money now to use back then....
Right. 8 jars of Ragu for $3.69. I’m lucky to get 1 at that price, on sale with a Kroger plus card. Lol.
Ragu would be 2.67 today. The soda 1.02. The difference is that they use HFCS instead of sugar as a sweetener
I was just 6 when this episode aired, but I recall seeing those Ford Mavericks (and other cars from the 70's) turn in to rust buckets by the time I was behind the wheel in the mid 80's.
My aunt had an ugly lime green Mercury Comet, n they called it "The Vomit" lol
Ad that came up before this, current one. “You’ll never forget your first Oreo cookie!” Uh! Ya, I have!
And the thing is Bob would get MANY MANY more of those kisses, hugs, muggings & ANYTHING ELSE you can think of (Including contestants wearing Playboy-esque skirts) over the years) too :)
GREAT upload. Keep up the the good work :)
Pat Cook, KB0OXD a family friend was kicked off the show because he asked Bob if he ever slept with the showgirls.
Pat Cook, KB0OXD well, the "pickups" of course died down near the home stretch.
@@alexcorona Well I guess the answer was not no lol !
Absolutely crisp video quality!
You can actually see the paint smears on the Five Price Tags stand.
Bob Baker was the best host
Hot damn Patricia. If Bob can't contain himself then that means something
Its funny how he asked her to come on stage so she can bid, dear lordy!
@@hmm2598 he def enjoyed her skirt the way he was obsessed with it . Can we say Dressing Room Shenanigans?? ;)
Bob couldn't contain himself. He had an affair with one of his Beauties, Dian Parkinson, for several years (Wikipedia)...
@@terencedove5047 what has it to do with conaining, if the girl wants it.
He got a gobby in the back for damn sure
Just about everyone in that audience, cast and crew are now passed on.
RIP, Bob Barker.
It's 50 years ago, so the 20-somethings in the audience would be only in their 70s now, so I think quite a few might still be around! Also Janice is still around.
@@friendly76 Which is why I said "almost everyone'.
I am 58 and remember watching this exact episode so I am sure some are still with us.
@@rebeccakleitz3177 that's cool that you remember this particular episode! It's interesting to think of the core memories that stick with us over the decades.
Wanda overdid by $2. I think it was Patricia's skirt again!!
LOL good one
People were cleaner, healthier and behaved much better in 1973. Still remember that summer barely. I was four.
They were, but in a different way. Over 40% of the population smoked and smoking was allowed most anywhere back then
Jon Stewart My father was a smoker up until August 1974. Glad he quit.
They acted better...except for the blatant sexism and near harassment Bob showed the contestant in the short skirt on contestants row.
And they were also less medicated and society knew when to think and when to do.
The difference in culture was that we have had 50 years of education defunding, which is why we know how but this political climate. Critical thinking, and intelligence used to be admired and now many people hate it because they are talk to… They are taught it is being elite when it is really improving yourself which benefits everybody.
Pause the video at 8:30 to look at Patricia and her short skirt
Everyone on here is reasonably well-dressed, mannered, and respectful. How many are actually like that today and giving Bob a kiss at the beginning and/or end? Unthinkable today! Every other person now looks and acts obnoxious or sloppy. I'm thinking Mary, the first contestant would be about 110 if still alive. Those glasses she wore were pretty stylish for 1973 and don't look tacky 44 years later!
Jon Stewart And I loved that Lily Pulitzer dress! My mom wore these in the 69s.
People today are so horrible, not looking like how you want them to look and not kissing strangers!
You snowflakes cry and whine about the dumbest things.
dunnO bout Patricia.. she was a lil OVERdressed :P
I was exactly one month old when this was recorded, lol. Love these classics!! :)
I was 4 months from being born right here
Born June 1973.. Happy 50th birthday y’all 🎉😂
bob could not get away with that today
Come on, Patricia! GUESS THAT PRICE!!!
Hope to see that beauty on a future archives show!
This was taped the day after I was born!
The Grocery Game was referred to as The Price Is Right Supermarket in its inaugural appearance as a pricing game.
and back then, the cash register was blue...still an NCR model, but the blue looked better
As an animal rights activist I wonder what Bob Barker would think of the ermine coat prize.
This was from before Bob became an animal rights activist (he started around the mid 80s). After that, he wouldn't allow furs to be prizes on the show anymore.
@@AJ17_Bob demanded no more fur products starting in the 1982 season
When did they stop getting specific about product descriptions? Here we get the brand names, the slogan and everything. But these days it's just "A jar of sauce".
I think 2010...?
Sponsor paid?
Just to answer your question three years later, some products are sponsored and others are just something they picked up at the store. They still do this today where the sponsored product will have the name and features announced whereas other products shown will get a generic description.
that was a great skirt
@Jerry Moad J.R. Ohhhh yes it is
Raised on the pole!
8:20 I agree with you Bob Barker
$420 right off the bat. Hmm 🤔 😆 yes, 70’s!
I wasn't watching TPIR in 1973, and if I were, I wouldn't have noticed, but in these early years almost all of the prize cues are variations on the main TPIR theme. Suppose it wasn't til the hour show 1975-76 that the cues I grew up with appeared.
