Simon a trooper. Never takes a day off. Broken finger, broken shoulder, dying, from his death bed, hell, he maybe doing ups and downs from beyond the grave.
so in otherwords the final night of WCW they got there act together and put on an amazing show like they did in 96-98 and beat WWE..i was a WCW guy, miss watching Nitro every week
ECW BORN TO BE WIRED!! Summer 1997, Sabu vs World Champion Terry Funk for the title in the company's last ever Barbed Wire Ropes match, amazing show Start to finish.
@@clichenachos3109 indeed! I watched him try to walk out of the corner after a failed Air Sabu, and his arm was stuck to the wire, he literally just ripped his arm off the wire, taped himself up and kept going. Funny thing, Sabu was supposed to lose but pinning Terry was too painful for the Funkster so Sabu got the W
I can't believe that was 20 yrs ago.. I watched this LIVE and I about lost it. I was hardcore WCW then, always watched Nitro and couldn't believe it. I was rooting for Shane all the way to take his old man out. Of course, this was before the internet could ruin everything, lol!
I remember watching the simulcast & having two tv’s in separate rooms tuned to Raw & Nitro respectively as a kid. It felt so huge at the time. I only wish the whole invasion was done as well.
I remember watching this like it was... 19 years ago. I always regret not watching Nitro, even though it was more accessible than WWF for us in the UK, being on terrestrial TV. Still feels sad though when you hear someone say "Death/end of WCW," even if it was 20 years ago.
Not that it matters, but I was in Cleveland live for Raw. It was just surreal. Later on, the first Invasion PPV was also in Cleveland and I got to see that live too!
Imagine if the likes of big poppa, Goldberg, flair, hogan and the nwo etc etc were there for the actual invasion?! A proper disservice to fans was dealt there cos a once I a lifetime opportunity was never realised👎👎
I’m thinking there was some good luck in those WM 17 Baseball jersey/jackets everyone was wearing because Wrestlemania 17 is still 1 of ( if not THE ) Greatest ppvs to date.
I remember this night. I tried to watch the NITRO version, but WWF and the sound like a split second difference and it was annoying AF. So they made switch it to RAW. Brilliant move. Watch the Taker VS TRIPLE H match and count how many moved HHH gets in, I only counted 3.
The Raw july 1st 2002 (the Jeff Hardy vs Undertaker ladder match) Or Raw October 7th 2002 (Raw Roulette, The first TLC match on Raw, the start of the Katie Vick storyline. All in one night)
Goldberg winning the WCW world title 6/7/98 Nitro/Raw retro ups and downs. About time we see Nitro at its very best. Raw had a good showing with Mankind vs Undertaker number one contenders match as the main event.
20 years.. Jeez-Us. I remember watching it. That Shane Bomb was pure 🔥🔥🔥 The amount of times Vince wrote himself into angles with Trish like that.. I sear he was getting sponsored.
Get well brother feeling a sickness myself but I sure can't pull it together for public or work. Simon with the slap of the heads hold my cough syrup... Right on brother stay blessed and speedy recovery... No it was is not anything extra but be sick with cold or regular flue symptoms and confirmed to be just sick odd news to rejoice hearing. Times are odd forsure.
This is Retro now. If you watched wrestling as a kid in the 90s. This stuff to the kids of today. Is 20 years old. I like to think it aged well. If I watched anything from 1979 wrestling I can't see it holding up like this.
2 day's old, but, just got the notification...thanks RUclips, summabitches.... You get a golden up my bald, beautiful, British brother. Might be late, but it counts 😂
haven't even gotten a minute in but just had to say for my comment of the week.. I want to thank you, Mr. Miller, for literally making yourself feel ill to bring us our daily dose of Simon...seriously I do appreciate your dedication and compassion for the community that loves to laugh with and at you....get well soon my friend!
Get better Simon. Maybe the next retro ups and downs should be Bash at the Beach 2000. Where Hulk Hogan was “fired” on the show, but actually fired on WCW.
New Years Revolution 2006! Edge cashes in his MITB on John Cena after he defended his WWE Championship in the Elimination Chamber! everyone in the back was apparently against Edge becoming world champion except for Vince. when they went out there Vince told Edge " prove me right" and the rest is history!
Taz always comments on Penelope fords high bridge with the northern lights suplex pin, thanks for pointing out that little Easter egg Simon! Also get well soon!
I commented last time and Ill request again. A very abstract request but Fully Loaded 1999 please. It's the only live show I went to and it was because my dad took me before he passed away of lung cancer. I would love to relive through Retro Ups and Downs please. Love the channel and keep up the good work :-)
Retro ups and downs - Simons choice, would be good to see what he chooses
I agree with you.
Such a solid show of appreciation. We should all back this.
OMG this is such an amazing idea
Omg what amazing ideas come from you. Well done
100% agree, he deserves to choose
Simon a trooper. Never takes a day off. Broken finger, broken shoulder, dying, from his death bed, hell, he maybe doing ups and downs from beyond the grave.
Simon Miller: “I’m ill so I won’t be as animated as usual”
Also Simon Miller: is as animated as usual.
Gotta love that man
Adrenalin is a hell of a drug!
A true showman
Lol yep I forgot he was sick until heading down here
Trueeeeeeeeeee
One of my favorites so far, his animated disgust at Vince and Trish Stratus is amazing
so in otherwords the final night of WCW they got there act together and put on an amazing show like they did in 96-98 and beat WWE..i was a WCW guy, miss watching Nitro every week
I read somewhere that Vince was big fan of flair vs sting so he personally made sure it would be the main event
Yeah, the last Nitro was like the best episode they put on in around a year at that point, maybe more. It's like they forgot how to do it for a while.
Is the 80s and early 90s, wcw was absolutely fire.
The greatest wrestling ever, unfortunately they couldn't evolve.
Simon! Feel better man. Thanks for always entertaining us.
Rest in Peace to Sean O'Haire🌹🙏 and Mike Awesome🌹🙏
ECW BORN TO BE WIRED!! Summer 1997, Sabu vs World Champion Terry Funk for the title in the company's last ever Barbed Wire Ropes match, amazing show Start to finish.
Yes a very good show
With a horrific ending
@@clichenachos3109 I was there live! Took them 20 minutes to cut them out of the barbed wire!

Bad Blood 1997. Debut of Kane & the first ever HIAC match
Hell yeah
One of the best matches ever.
I think they’ve done that

Death of wcw but birth of Shrek

"The iron sheik is still on his way to the ring" - absolutely howling with laughter at that 1st degree burn
Just 1 more year and he'll be there!
Lmaoooo
Aaaaaand he's there.
The April 13th 1998 edition of RAW and Nitro? The first episode that the WWF beat WCW in 83 weeks
Wcw beat them about 10 times after that, but then never again😢 what an era
Great job, man. Hope you’re feeling better now. Also, wouldn’t you like to review a show with Repo Man? I want to suggest This Tuesday in Texas.
It’s time. It’s long over due. Simon, please do Wrestlemania 9
My grandfather, God Bless his soul, used to refer to his fists as “soup bones.”
I have never, ever heard another person say that until today. 😂
Man that stunner and beer drinking from the rock was so intense, absolutely loved that feud/match/era
Thank you Simon for everything
Suggestion for next week: ECW one night stand 2006
Simon has broken fingers and a stomach virus and his still dropping straight entertainment heat on the RUclips feed, god bless this man.

I watched that flair vs sting match few years ago and still got tears thinking about the rivalry and history they had together
Goldbergs streak ending vs Kevin Nash at Starrcade 98
OR
4 Horseman vs nWo at Fall Brawl 1997 War Games when Hennig turns heel
Sting and Flair the two biggest names in WCW being the last match
Couldn’t have done it better
Vince was a big fan of that rivalry so he personally made sure this would be the main event
The day the wrestling died 😫😫😫....2021 and still missing the WCW
Shane and Vince having one of the first ever video chats was amazing.
Vince created Zoom confirmed.
Was exciting... But I felt empty... WCW/NWA 4 Life😏
We gotta see TNA Victory Road 2011 with the Hardy incident
yeahhhh that would be a good one!
Props to you Simon. To review not just one, but TWO shows at once! And with a stomach virus on to of that!
Feel better soon Mr. Miller thanks for the episode
I hated that day so much. It literally made me sick to my stomach when I saw that wwf got Nitro.
Let’s pay homepage to Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa and review backlash 2004. Randy Orton vs Mick Foley Hardcore Match
You still did great for a person with no energy. I still enjoyed the show.
I know it was terrible, but do "Retro Ups & Downs : December to Dismember."
Done it
He already did it
ECW Living Dangerously 2000 a lot of good stuff
Not that it matters, but I was in Cleveland live for Raw. It was just surreal. Later on, the first Invasion PPV was also in Cleveland and I got to see that live too!

I was there! For Raw in Cleveland, it was pretty awesome.
WCW Bash at the Beach '94 please. Hogan vs Flair. 15 years in the making.

TNA Bound for Glory 2006. Promise you won’t be disappointed 🔥
Suggestion: ECW Barely Legal 1997
Good Suggestion
Armageddon 2006
Kane vs MVP inferno match
Undertaker vs Mr.Kennedy last ride martch
I was in college during the Monday Night Wars. My roommate and I both had TVs, so we had RAW on one and Nitro on the other.
Capital Combat 90' wcw please. It has robocop in it and sting
Lets do December 13, 2001 Smackdown, the grocery store brawl
Next suggestion:
WWE Wrestlemania 28
Rock vs Cena (Once in a lifetime)
Undertaker vs Triple H (Hell in a Cell)
Simon! I'll never hear "coexist" the same way again. We all coexist on this planet damn it!
My vote is for Wrestlemania 2000. Since Simon is usually so positive it'll be interesting to see what he says.
Decent Card ruined by a bad main event
I had a bought a tv with Picture in Picture during the Monday Night Wars to be able to watch both Raw and Nitro at the same time!
I didn’t even know that was a thing back then.

Tony Schiavone, "HE'S GOT HIM UP!!!!"
The RAW and Nitro ups...nice...
There is a December 1997 episode of RAW with DX playing poker waiting for Owen Hart to show up. I'd love to see an Ups and Downs for that.

Wrestlmania VIII. That ending...

I remember seeing this live, very sad. I always watched wcw over wwf

ROH 2012 Shadow in the Sun. Michael Elgin vs Davey Richards. One of the best ROH PPVs ever with a lot of wrestlers in their young days
