@@truediva18 I was way up in the nosebleed seats but it was an amazing experience. I got to see Aretha Franklin sing "America the Beautiful". being able to be there when the Undertaker won the World championship was amazing. Being in the crowd for the Shawn Michaels versus John Cena match was electric. Two of my wrestling heroes, The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels were each in World championship matches. the military was not a very good experience for me at the time, and buying my tickets to this show was one of the first steps towards healing from that experience that I took.
Interesting notes about the ECW match and the WWE title match, both of them had even better matches later on. ECW had an elimination match the following Tuesday, then HBK vs. Cena had one of the best Raw main events ever in London. Just as an aside during the ECW match, I was at this show, and can be seen when Tommy Dreamer walks down the stairs! Also, it's not brought up much, but Taker winning against Batista here meant he beat all four members of Evolution at WrestleMania. To keep with the Detroit show theme, and as it is November, I am suggesting Survivor Series 1991 for the next Ups & Downs.
I’ll never understand why The Undertaker and Batista match didn’t close out the show. I was hoping for that match to be the main event but instead they put it in the middle of the card.
It was originally gonna be (Undertaker was Rumble winner after all) but WWE changed their minds due to thinking the match would suck. Boy were they wrong.
I actually didn’t mind it being mid card It was a big wake up for me and made me energized for the rest even though I generally didn’t like much of the shape aside for like 3 matches but I know I’m the outsider in situations regarding match order
My guess is because Vince wanted to end the show with the World Championship match with the veteran putting over the younger star rather than the World Championship match with the veteran winning.
"and I wish I could ask her (Aretha Franklin) 'wo was your favorite wrestler'...I'm going to say Tyson Tomko" I mean I laugh so loud I am pretty sure my neighbors are going to call the police to report a homicide...made me "all warm in my tum tum" :) :) you are the greatest Mr. Miller and ,as always, I appreciate you!
MVP was mad underrated. I liked him even when WWE wanted everyone to ‘hate’ him so much. He had so much confidence and the gimmick was great and original. Was sad he didn’t get a bigger push..
Being that Wrestlmainia is basically like a season finale, the money in the bank should’ve definitely stayed there, them putting it off a month or 2 throws everything off
Oh, and the production on the commentary during the mitb match was great, how they slipped between the three brand commentary teams was great, no shouting over each other but they all put their guys over
Taker Batista was a true heavyweight championship match. Had to pause this video to go watch it again. I found myself saying DAAAAMN! a lot and rewinding spots half a dozen times in amazement. Thanks for reminding me of how great wrestling was at that time.
I started watching wrestling in 2004 and this was at the height of my WWE nostalgia for me. I swear Wrestlemania 22-25 just hit a lil different for me 🔥🔥🔥
This was my first ever PPV event, as a Detroiter. My dad took me and my best friend to it, and his jaw dropped on seeing Jeff Hardy jump off that ladder. It was a great night overall. Batista's best match and was the first time I thought Taker's streak would end. Michael working on Cena's leg the whole match and big match John no sold it.
Can you do WCW Bash at the Beach 1994 or Spring Stampede 1994? I loved Steve Austin’s matches from both ppvs. Also Ric Flair vs Ricky Steamboat at Slamboree was an absolute classic
2007 was a fantastic year for Taker. Won the Rumble, had a great match at Mania, and had a great feud with Edge and Batista. The dude was on fire (sorry Kane).
With next week being 15 years since Eddie Guerreros passing I say No Mercy 2005 it was the last PPV before his passing but that event was also on his 38th birthday just away to say he's gone and missed but never forgotten
I know I'm not the only probably bringing this up. But that 45 minute match Cena and Michaels had on Raw in England just a couple of weeks later was amazing. ⬆️

I think he should up and down the ups and down as a bonus as well
Good idea
He DID do a look back as his early beginnings for the 400th episode or whatever it was and really did not enjoy the experience.

WWE Survivor Series 1997
