The original plan at WM 30 was Sheamus vs Daniel Bryan. And Bryans revenge for 18 second loss. Cm Punk even revealed the sheet. Big Show vs Kane was booked match, CM Punk vs Triple H , Batista vs Orton and ect.
I swear this was the best tag match ever. Wrestlemania worthy for real. I still felt they could have held this feud back just a little, and make people sweat for it ... but fans including myself was all over it
Raw Is War and WCW Nitro 4th January 1999 duel retro ups and downs. It's one of the most memorable nights of the Monday night war. On one side there was one of the best television title changes of all time with Mick Foley winning the championship and on the other side one of the worst with the finger poke of doom. Especially with the twenty second anniversary of the night coming up.
1 positive of this week.....mr. Brodie has broughton a bunch of finicky wrestling marks together like a family to grieve. A lot of good " charity, memories " has come from this terrible tragedy....so at least there's that
This just in: John Cena confirms rumours of him donning chocolate body and blackface for the gimmick of his alter ego "Darren Young", so that he could finally be seen.
Shield VS Wyatt Family was awesome, one of my favorite match. The video package before the match deserves its own Up. The crowd was super into it, and there was a lot of story elements into this match. It really deserved to be at Wrestlemania, instead of that squach match between the Shield and Kane+NAO, and having Bray Wyatt fed to Cena.
was wondering what content I would get to enjoy and I have no idea how I forgot about retro...what a noob I am :) hope you had a great and safe new years eve, Mr. Miller, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Great video as always, Simon. I really enjoy these! Cena made a reference to how similar he and Darren Young look when he was feuding with the Nexus. He was making fun of all of them and said he needs to ask his mom if she got up to something with the milk man.... and I think that was the only mention of it.
Shield vs Wyatt was electric man, what a great build heels vs heels but even before touching each other people were chanting This is awesome, and it never happens to great matches with great builds today that it what lost today and I miss it. Specially they didn't do rematch at WM instead Wyatt's go after cena to job to him and Shield they were against NAO and Kane what were they thinking man.
Since Simon chose a show without a poll, surely we should revisit the suggestions from last time! WCW Monday Nitro Jan 4th, 1999 - The Fingerpoke of Doom and when WCW gave away the result of Mankind winning the title on Raw.
I was at this event. It was amazing during the wyatts and shield match. We also saw security and dean leave right in front of us which was the big question from the shield the next day on raw lol
Well lets take this Shad Gaspard wasnt part of any other company so there not as much coverage and like as many people as the news really affected as Jon Huber touched everyone in a whole other company. The only big company shad was known in was WWE
But he did though. Maybe not in the wrestling world but social media talked about him for a while. A lot of actors like The Rock, Will Ferrell, Donald Faizon spoke very highly of him, the guy stopped a robbery by choking out thief. Trust me Mr. Gaspar was definitely honored.
"Summerslam 2002" for next week...Shawn michaels in ring return after 4 years,Brock becoming champion for the first time beating the rock...Angle vs mysterio,,edge vs eddie, rvd vs benoit, flair vs jericho...The ppv was full of awesome matches...
Only being able to access the live feed and not being able to access the retro stuff is the issue I had... Years later... I chalked it up to being Canadian and we always get the short end of the stuck.
When the elimination chamber match came down to Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton, I did think Daniel Bryan was gonna win the WWE title. I thought by that time WWE was hearing enough demands from the fans to put him over.
PHIL! No Golden Up when Simon says Golden Up? YOU GET A BROWN DOWN! The reason people were behind Roman back then because his terrible wrestling was covered up by Rollins and Ambrose.
Can we please finally do a retro ups and downs for a classic WWE ppv from 1992? How about the 1992 Royal Rumble which would be fitting with the Royal Rumble coming up
Bums me out that Big E. had the IC belt back in 2014 and they still haven't pushed him. Don't get me wrong, new day was great, but I agree with Simon that he has IT.
I forgot how good the wyatts and shield were then before they were ran into the ground. Now we need to finish the Shawn Michaels wrestlemania trifecta with wrestlemania 26 Career vs Streak.
There was also another layer of the shield vs wyatts match. They were trying make it look like Ambrose was gonna turn heel, hence why he didn’t return to the match. Making it seem like he left Seth and Roman high and dry. Obviously it was Seth that eventually turned but for awhile it looked like Ambrose was.
Next Retro Ups and Downs: TLC 2014. Awesome Ladder match between Dolph Ziggler and Luke Harper for the IC Championship. Cena vs. Rollins in a Tables Match. Bray Wyatt vs. Dean Ambrose in a TLC Match.
I’ll also say that I have always believed the Daniel Bryan story to be just that - a storyline. If it were just the Randy Orton cash in and lack of appearance in the Rumble match, I might agree WWE planned Orton v Batista, but there was just SUCH a focus on keeping Bryan away from the belt that it HAD to be a storyline leading to one of the all-time feel good moments at the end of Wrestlemania. Also, WWE simply don’t give three title reigns (by that point) and multiple PPV main events, to people they consider B+ players...
Hey the Golden Up never appeared for the Wyatt vs. Shield match.
Wyatt Family vs The Shield feud was memorable even today
@Franco Bradshaw didnt want to drag it out
@@zachlawson5238 I feel like there were multiple ways to keep it interesting and build it to a big Mania final showdown
I guess you can say that Simon Miller is *"Hardwired"* to deliver some classic ups & down content.
I'm still devastated about Jon Huber. Loved Wyatt vs SHIELD.
Heroes Of Wrestling .. Simon gotta review this
Theres gonna be a lot of Brown downs
Seriously
No Mercy 2003
Simon's funny reaction to the father daughter no holds barred I quit match
Also the Lesnar Taker biker chain match
And STILL the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Rand Orton. Lol
i was waiting for him to correct himself
Don’t hear and still wwe champion for Orton that much:( Give that man a longer than 90 day title reign
The original plan at WM 30 was Sheamus vs Daniel Bryan. And Bryans revenge for 18 second loss. Cm Punk even revealed the sheet. Big Show vs Kane was booked match, CM Punk vs Triple H , Batista vs Orton and ect.
ECW Barely Legal their first PPV and it will be so much fun to watch lol
I was there! Wyatt's vs Shield is the greatest match I've ever seen in person.
Every Bad News Barrett segment was hilarious 😂
Happy New Year to everyone Watching It
WCW Nitro and WWF Raw 26th March 2001 - double ups and downs for a night no one expected
I've watched Wyatts vs. The Shield at least 20 times. The emotion, the story, the badassery, the match... It was something else.
HEROS of Wrestling JUST DO IT
Randy Orton was champion heading into the chamber match.
This was the last PPV to not be on WWE network. The last true PPV.
Good. I'm enjoying paying 10 instead of 50 bucks for a PPV.
Because when it's shit, it doesnt hurt my wallet
Randy Orton was the defending champion in the Elimination Chamber.
ECW one night stand 2006 next. upvote please!
I swear this was the best tag match ever. Wrestlemania worthy for real. I still felt they could have held this feud back just a little, and make people sweat for it ... but fans including myself was all over it
Retro Ups and Downs for the Royal Rumble 2001 please. It's My favourite Royal Rumble ever.

Oh, shit. I was front row for this show. That match was absolutely incredible, the feeling from the audience was amazing
This just in: John Cena confirms rumours of him donning chocolate body and blackface for the gimmick of his alter ego "Darren Young", so that he could finally be seen.
I believe Cena is the white Darren Young!
This was the match (wyatts vs shield) that brought me back to wrestling.
Shield VS Wyatt Family was awesome, one of my favorite match. The video package before the match deserves its own Up. Suggestion for the next Retro ups and downs: WCW Starrcade 1998 (Goldberg's undefeated streak comes to an end)
"U tried to push lars sullivan"
UP!
Nice one Simon Miller
Awesome job, Simon, how about the Wrestlemania in Seattle where Lesnar did the shooting star press (kinda) against Angle? Hit that 👍 guys, let's go
The build up to The Shield vs Wyatt Family was amazing
Omg I always said Young looked like Cena. Lol. Glad someone else saw it.
Heroes of wrestling please please please
I know you...
17:58 John Cena? Uh Simon Randy Orton was Champion heading in to the Chamber Match Cena was one of the Challengers
Miller starting 2021 off right. Woo!
Great video Simon, how about the very first Monday Night Raw next? Upvote to agree, guys, let's go 👍
Shield vs Wyatt was electric man, what a great build heels vs heels but even before touching each other people were chanting This is awesome, and it never happens to great matches with great builds today that it what lost today and I miss it.
Specially they didn't do rematch at WM instead Wyatt's go after cena to job to him and Shield they were against NAO and Kane what were they thinking man.
Randy Orton was the Champion at the time. Not John Cena. Theyre fresh off that unification ladder match at TLC.
Thank you Simon for the tribute Ups and Downs for the late Luke Harper aka Brodie Lee BKA Jon Huber
Don't know of it hapened already, but ECW Anarchy Rulz '99 would be an awesome retro episode
One of the best matches Jon Huber has ever had. He is no longer with us but his memories isn't going anywhere🖤
Idea for Retro up and down next week:
THE FIRST SIMON MILLER UPS AND DOWN VIDEO EVER MADE
Simon Randy Orton was the defending champion
This my home state Minnesota so definitely thumbs up.
The Wyatt family vs The Shield rivalry was incredible and so entertaining
I understand that it's tragic Luke Harper died but I'm kinda upset Shad Gaspar didn't get half of the coverage John Huber is getting....
Well lets take this Shad Gaspard wasnt part of any other company so there not as much coverage and like as many people as the news really affected as Jon Huber touched everyone in a whole other company. The only big company shad was known in was WWE
Because he wasn’t an active wrestler like Jon was
And Shad was never in AEW, why would they give him a whole tribute show?
But he did though. Maybe not in the wrestling world but social media talked about him for a while. A lot of actors like The Rock, Will Ferrell, Donald Faizon spoke very highly of him, the guy stopped a robbery by choking out thief. Trust me Mr. Gaspar was definitely honored.
@@GQFJB They didn’t say anything about Shad getting an AEW tribute show.
These reviews are awesome i think the next retro up and down should be 2006 royal rumble the one where ray mysterio won
Next retro Ups and Downs: Lucha Underground's Ultima Lucha (1) it's a great show with lot's a carnage.
EXTREME RULES 2012 : Where Brock lesnar made his first return match against John Cena
F U
"Summerslam 2002" for next week...Shawn michaels in ring return after 4 years,Brock becoming champion for the first time beating the rock...Angle vs mysterio,,edge vs eddie, rvd vs benoit, flair vs jericho...The ppv was full of awesome matches...
Retro Ups and Downs for Royal Rumble 2016 Plz
Happy New Year!
Darren young does look like John cena. How have i not noticed that before?
a lot of people say it but i can’t see it at all
Lol Ricky Starks looks like john cena too Simon but with the body of a young rock lol😉👍🏼
Thank you for this upload.
I was at this paperview. It was really good.
I'm nominating Fully Loaded 2000.
Jericho vs HHH Last Man Standing
Undertaker vs Kurt Angle
The Rock vs Chris Benoit WWF Championship
Only being able to access the live feed and not being able to access the retro stuff is the issue I had... Years later... I chalked it up to being Canadian and we always get the short end of the stuck.
We still need a review of Hero’s of Wrestling
The one thing I wish we got was a triple threat with the shield Wyatt family and the new day.
My favorite thing was how the audience was chanting "this is awesome" before the shield wyatt family match started
Great review as usual Simon and killer Metallica hoodie!
Happy new year Simon
When the elimination chamber match came down to Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton, I did think Daniel Bryan was gonna win the WWE title. I thought by that time WWE was hearing enough demands from the fans to put him over.
If we're trying to honor Jon Huber/Luke Harper, then you gotta do his great ladder match with Dolph Ziggler from TLC 2014
Happy New Year whatculture
Bound For Glory 2011 please
7:40 Simon is already in 2022😂😂😂
The shield vs The wyatts was the legendary fued of The Decade..
One of my favorite tag team matches both were on fire that match and it truly showed what talent luke harper had
What an absolute banger the Shield and Wyatt Family had. Very underrated event overall too, in honesty.
Shield vs Wyatt Family was so good!
HEROES OF WRESTLING!
Bash at the beach 2000 please
Last time I was this early, Randy burned the Fiend into hell 🔥🔥
I remember being disappointed that the tag match wasn’t in the chamber. Missed opportunity to finally have the game mode in real life
PHIL! No Golden Up when Simon says Golden Up? YOU GET A BROWN DOWN!
The reason people were behind Roman back then because his terrible wrestling was covered up by Rollins and Ambrose.
The first 2021 ups and downs is to pay tribute to a legend we loss. May he rest in piece.
Happy New Year Whatculture hope you all have a good year
Can we please finally do a retro ups and downs for a classic WWE ppv from 1992? How about the 1992 Royal Rumble which would be fitting with the Royal Rumble coming up

Ups & Downs All In
It happened
Next Retro Ups and Downs: TLC 2014. Awesome Ladder match between Dolph Ziggler and Luke Harper for the IC Championship. Cena vs. Rollins in a Tables Match. Bray Wyatt vs. Dean Ambrose in a TLC Match.
The logical follow on from this would be for next week to review the excellent Wrestlemania 30
I’ll also say that I have always believed the Daniel Bryan story to be just that - a storyline. No no no plz no
Shield vs Wyatt Family was epic.
Simon, I think the reason it took so long to be accessible in the UK was because of a contract with Sky Network or something.
Heroes of Wrestling
Image wade doing bad news gimmick in nxt commarty
Now please do WM 28- The WM with the highest buyrate of all time.
When the outlaws came back it was awesome. It was a great run and story. No way should it be a down
Genuinely lol’d at 12:00
Saaame the escalated quickly
"Let's go have an oragy- Simon Miller 2021
Now can we please have the Raw after Extreme Rules 2014? When Seth Rollins turned on the shield.
