    Another good video I just found. I'm late to the party for the Firebox stoves, but I'm really enjoying the G2 5" and the Nano stainless. Because of fire restrictions on some of the public lands I like to visit, I just ordered the Trangia gas butane burner which clips right onto the Nano sticks. With the fire restrictions, they even ban alcohol stoves and require you to have something you can shut off with a switch, like a gas stove. It's pretty stupid, since I can just drop the lid on the alcohol stove to shut it off instantly.

    • @JohnMillwoodOutdoors
      @JohnMillwoodOutdoors  2 года назад +1

      I'm wanting to get the butane burner for my Nano. That is the only accessory I'm missing. I think you could regulate the temperature better. I have a hard time getting a medium heat. Thanks for watching!

    Any sticking on your grill plates. You an anyone else reading this. Put it all the up high in your home oven on broil get it hot pull it our rub it with a napkin an oil stick it back in do that about 10 times baking it on. Than you’ll be basically non stick.
    Did it to all of mine. There a nice honey or darker hard non greasy coat of them oil coatings. Seems to have taken so well I can soap an water wash it with no issues. It don’t scratch off with cooking utensils or anything like that no funky flavor imparted into food. Best thing I done with it after fighting with it after the first use of oiling it an food still sticking like all get out. Now just about nothing sticks. Maybe a tiny spot here an there but nothing close to before

      This is excellent information. You basically seasoned the grill plate in a similar fashion as you would a carbon steel pan. I never thought of doing that. Thanks for posting this info, and thanks for watching!

      I found that at first, I was choking off the oxygen with too much tinder. I like the mini inferno for starting, but that is just a personal preference. The tulip poplar bark and dry shavings worked also, but it was a little more work.

    Love your videos. So informative and helpful. I use a Nano and the 5" Firebox when I can handle the weight. I noticed you use a 3/4 Underquilt. Do you have trouble with the position of the underquilt moving at night and causing CBS and Torso getting Cold? I had that this last weekend. I had my camping partner check the underquilt before I dozed off to sleep. All was good. But in the middle of the night I started to get cold from the bottom up. When my torso started getting cold, I reached out of my Blackbird hammock and pulled the underquilt back over my left should and up. After that, the quilt was like a furnace!

      @JohnMillwoodOutdoors  4 года назад +1

      I'm glad you found some value out of this video. If a strong puff of wind blows into the head end, I sometimes get that cold air on my neck and back. I'm like you, I reach out and make an adjustment. I also button down the head doors on my Superfly tarp to prevent the wind from getting in. I like the torso quilt. To keep my feet warm, I put a Therm-a-Rest seat pad in the footbox of my topquilt. Thanks for watching and commenting!
