The Swedish fire torch method works great with these. I split a piece down it’s length into quarters and place them in upright. Burns for quite a while so you don’t need to keep feeding it.
Hey Luke. Nice Review. I've got to say, I've seen some comments on your review and people think the stove is overpriced or they think it's just as simple as 4 sections of metal etc. The thing is...This stove is made with precision, each hole and every angle was thought out and then recreated again into a Gen 2 version. It also will soon have a wind block attachment and esbit plate available. Once people put their hands on this little guy they realize it's more than just metal. The engineering of it is supreme. I've done a few videos with it. I enjoy this stove and I use lots of wood stoves.
I know im asking randomly but does anyone know a method to log back into an Instagram account..? I somehow forgot the password. I would love any tips you can give me.
@Yael Yahir i really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Got my Nano gen 2 today!! It's now in my bug out bag in my car nestled with my Pocket Rocket 2! I believe in having a cannister stove as well as a biofuel stove in the same bag and the Nano fit the bill perfect! Takes up almost zero space!!!
After seeing a few videos on the Firebox Nano, I am now sold on this over the Solostove that I had purchased. Because of the minimal space it takes when folded, lighter weight, and the fact that you can feed larger longer wood through the sides. Those side feed holes by the way are offset so criss-crossing the wood is facilitated. Luke, your videos are informative and well produced.
Believe it or not I was working on that exact product a few years back. I got the idea when I went hunting and used a little soup can with holes drilled in as my cooking stove.
My titanium Nano stove will be here tomorrow according to the tracking info. I'm looking forward to having the multiple capabilities this stove provides. Wood is more than plentiful here in Southern Illinois and I already have 2 Trangia alcohol stoves. What my wife isn't going to like is that I'm now interested in getting the Trangia gas burner than is compatible with this stove. One last thing, the titanium model was out of stock when I ordered so I emailed Steve at Firebox to get an idea when they would be back in stock and ship. He responded in less than a day and his ETA was right on the money. I do repeat business with companies with that kind of customer service!
Thanks for the review Luke. I've had my Gen1 since the first production run, since I funded the Kickstarter for it and I've always wondered how other people feel about them. I love mine for sure, it comes with me on every trip.
Hey Luke! Longtime viewer- first post. I have the Solo Stove as a wood burner - I love the clean gassier burn of that - and also bring the companion trangia-syle alchy stove for early morning or rain. I find the pairing works great - and I nest them all in a 900ml pot so it's just one bag about 7x5. I like the engineering of the firebox a lot, but the gassifier wins my vote - and if you're bringing an alcohol stove anyway - you can't beat the all in one. Winter well! JB
Nano is light but if you move up to the full sized Firebox, that weighs a whopping TWO POUNDS. I used the SS Nano on my kitchen table with a Trangia. Fried eggs and bacon for breakfast on a baby cast iron skillet! Of course one egg at a time and 1 slice bacon cut in 1/4's. Bacon first THEN the egg.
Great video Luke. I have just purchased a little firestove although not the one in your video. I like them and as you say, you cannot eat the smell of wood burning when on a camp or day out in the wilderness. Brilliant and thorough review as always......best wishes from the UK :-)
Thanks for the video. My evernew titanium alcohol burner fits perfectly. I have three of these things and love the titanium version. I wish he made the large in titanium. I realize they are a bit pricey, but it is nice buying American Made.
If you run a Swedish fire torch, you don't have to feed it constantly. Burns longer though, so if you want a fast boil and go, then the smaller sticks are the way to go
I have both the Full Size and the Nano-2 and they're both excellent pieces of kit. Couple them with the Coffey Spit from Shane Coffey Outdoors & you have a very versatile outdoor kitchen!
Hey Luke I have a friend that has a stove like this, nice, I must say! Like the different fuel options that it can do - now, it's time for me to look into one for myself. Be well and warm back there!
I will certain do that - good think you folks are in he Boston area with all that mess, but further down south, nice! Look forward to videos from the new digs! Congrat's to you Suzy and kids!
I always have trouble knocking those little stoves over even though they are cool. As youngsters we used to make similar stoves from coffee cans, soup cans, sardine cans etc. we could get stainless steel scewers at the hardware store. Ha, showing my age now huh! LOL good video!
Old vid but nice job on the review. ~ They now have a nice nylon flat pouch for these, and also an X base/case for it. Latter for stability if don't have flat rocks, etc. and as and ash pan. If one would buy the X case it won't fit in the pouch, so I just use the white..I call a soot bag. ~~ I bought one of their Nano pouches anyway due to it's nice and has a D ring, which I use for my fishing license. Well..it dosen't always fair well in just a ziplock baggie. (-: Cool li'l stove. If ya find/bring decent tinder stuffs using method as Swedish Torch requires much less fire tending. If not using the Nano sticks I will recommend putting them in the soot pouch, then pocket or wherever. Lose them in the grass, etc there would be that disappointment as dropping a nut/washer. (swearing?)
One critique: it would be nice if the metal tines that serve as feet and pot holder would swivel independently. As is, if you have a small cup and need to turn the tines inwards, the support feet turn inwards as well. I could see situations where you'd want to have a wider base even when using a smaller cup/pot.
Recomend you get a torch lighter more reliable in the wind and really hot flame. I have one they quite making because it was too good 5 years old lol but retired it to my bug out bag. Now I keep a Ronson Jetlite Butane Torch Lighter on me it's not expensive but you have to use quad filtered fuel in it or it will die quickly.
Luke, nice piece of kit. Did i see the Gerber LMF II as your were geting the wood ready. What is the cool down time for the fire box and do you think it would be an issue when you pack it back in your ruck. Staye safe your friend andrew
Thanks for this great review! How does the Firebox Nano compare with the Toaks Titanium fire stove? I'm trying to choose between the two and it seems the Firebox is a little more stable. would you agree?
This is one case where going with Ti doesn't really get you much. you're only saving 2 oz.. I prefer to save the weight in my cook sets and pots where the weight savings really shines. Nice review. I've been thinking about getting one to round out my stove collection.
Ther's another product just like this, which comes with a folding case, which has embossed leg locks in it, to stop the legs turning on you. That case doubles as the ash pan. Much better design than this one. More complete, and also made in the U.S. Thanks for posting.
Looks great for a Buddy burner / Sterno can / Trangia/ popcan alcohol stove / Esbit cubes/ Fuel cubes / wood. Was hoping to see you do a Transport the box ,technique with this stove, using common sticks or bail wire. Would like to see how a Kleen Kanteen big mouth stainless steel would sit on this firebox...or would it be tippy ?? Nice price/very affordable with 40$ Stainless steel & 70$ Titanium. Nice share and good review. Cheers ;-)
Hey Luke great video, have you checked out the bushbox stoves, from looking at the designs online it seems that the bushbox stoves are superior. I dont really know since i don't have either, but just wondering if you've looked into them. Strength and honor my friend.
Hi Luke, awesome video, I loved it. I actually built one of these myself two summers ago, and I never heard of these stoves til this video, pretty awesome, I built mine very similar, made of Titanium, I added holes at the top for using as a grill as well, and I made the legs different, and the biggest difference is I assemble it myself every time I use it, its very easy for me, rather than keeping it together. seeing it in the video gave me a few more design ideas I'll definitely have to do in the future. (maybe i should have made patent?) lol kidding -Jake
Michaela Dale I have to say that I really like this stove and it's fun to "feed the beast." Is it my favorite???? I will have to think on that and get back to you. - Luke
hahaha feeding the beast is very addicting! lol thats awesome. Is there some kind of fire pan you can do a review on? I was told that I need to use a fire pan if I wanted to make a campfire on this hike. I'm not positive what that is. Thanks!
Thanks for the video. I've never used bio-fuel but I'm considering it now. How much time, just an approximation, would it take to get 24 oz. of water boiling (from procuring fuel, lighting fire, etc.)? I do enjoy your videos. Great job.
$40 for two pieces of tin? I would say $4 is way too much. Why everything that is targeted "for hikers and backpackers" should be so damn overpriced?! Thank you, Luke, for showing the price of things you are reviewing. It is really interesting to see market tendencies in US and compare to other countries.
5 pieces of stainless? I agree the raw materials would equal next to nothing, and the price may be a bit steep. The way it folds up and the versatility of it makes up for that somewhat. I have never used this stove, just speculation.
Just like many other commercial products these days, the cost to manufacture is usually a tenth or less per unit. The manufacturer needs to earn, all the middle men need to earn. Of course there are taxes at all levels. Im pretty sure there are many out there that can make the same with available tools or they can just go to a machine shop and make their own versions for $4.
Man....you really rag on Tasters Choice....!!!! Dang....not many companies that sell ready to use coffee. Enjoyed the video but if the coffee is that bad....why do it? LOL I know, it is a love/hate relationship. Great video!
I HAVE THE BIG BROTHER OF THE NANO GEN 2. LUKE CHECK OUT STEVES YOU TUBE IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY! THANK YOU AGAIN FOR LETTING ME GO A LONG ON YOUR JOURNEYS! BE SAFE! HAVE FUN! GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS!
I have to agree. When used with a trangia it uses more fuel than if you used a dedicated alcohol stove. When used with esbit you basically need to double the amount of fuel required. When used with sticks it requires continual feeding to be hot enough and when used with charcoal it doesn’t burn enough mass to create a proper amount of heat to bbq. It can do everything, just not as well as a stove made for specifically that fuel type alone. Jack of all trades but master of none.
you are always condemning that coffee But yet you still drink it you can buy a pour over and have a wonderful cup of coffee or a coffee bag I just dont understand why you still drink something that you call nasty
The Swedish fire torch method works great with these. I split a piece down it’s length into quarters and place them in upright. Burns for quite a while so you don’t need to keep feeding it.

Just picked one of these up, I should have guessed Luke had reviewed one.. 7years ago and Luke looks very very young. 😂
Made in the USA! Love it! Its a great set up no doubt. Cant wait to get one🙏🏼 Thanks Luke for your review on it! 🙂
Believe it or not I was working on that exact product a few years back. I got the idea when I went hunting and used a little soup can with holes drilled in as my cooking stove.
Light, pack able & versatile, nice. Slightly harder to add fuel because of the size but that won't bother lightweight campers.

this video was just recomended to me and i must say you didnt changed in 7 years as i watch your latest videos :-)
I HAVE THE BIGGER VERSION & LIKE IT A LOT! THANK YOU FOR YOUR REVIEW ON THE SMALLER ONE ! BE SAFE!
Is it good for long term SHTF?
One thing missed, in the review. Is there much of a difference, between gen 1, and gen 2?
Well designed..! Nice piece of hiking kit..!
Oh my gosh, what a fantastic Mass Dump group buy site you passed along. I've just bought this stove package over there. Thanks!

Nice little stove. Say Luke you know Folgers makes Coffee Bags. they are just like Tea Bags but with coffee. I love them. Good Folgers taste....
Thanks for the video. My evernew titanium alcohol burner fits perfectly. I have three of these things and love the titanium version. I wish he made the large in titanium. I realize they are a bit pricey, but it is nice buying American Made.
Great offering
Reliable
Compact
And Steve / owner is all about customer service and diverse outdoor-type products
Thanks

I bought gen2 stainless. Will see how it's gonna do .
Please discuss the difference in any warping and clean-up between the two metals.

I have both the Gen 2 and I recently got the nano in stainless steel. I don't kind of wish I got the gen 2 in titanium though.
Nice little stove.

Very good, Thank you very much

Just wondering what is your favorite instant coffee?
You crack me up with your coffee Luke! That's hilarious:) Nice little stove huh? Would you say it's your favorite stove or do you prefer another?

Hey boss ya have the good stuff tasters nasty. 😁😁 looks like the stove helps make good a great cup of tasters nasty. Like video the video
7:50 like firebox says if you cut 1” rounds it will last almost an hour. I have 1 and it did last just short of an hour.
Thanks for the video. I've never used bio-fuel but I'm considering it now. How much time, just an approximation, would it take to get 24 oz. of water boiling (from procuring fuel, lighting fire, etc.)? I do enjoy your videos. Great job.
Check out Hiram Cooks site he has tested these and many other stoves with various burners etc.

@@jamesharvey44 given that the main comment was made 8 years ago with no post covid economic drama, of course,
@@mateodeleon1185 True, but your reply of 5 months ago stating $4 was more of why I replied, it would cost 4 to get hinge wire. Have a good one.

Great little stove, shame about the price.
Can someone please tell me where I can buy the stainless steel G2 nano and the fuel plate accessory. Thank you
Go to fireboxstoves.com I just got me one there

Is there a reason you're using the logo for Elfquest as your own?
I own this and it’s probably my most regrettable purchase as of late.

Tossing my wood in there.... wasn't fun ...
What a load of bullshit.....are you sure you should be out on your own without a minder????
That looks cheap.
Useless weight
