When you repeatedly die in a checkpoint it reverts to a previous checkpoint to prevent that if you are stuck
And I'm very glad it does ... I once checkpoint driving my jeep off a cliff 🥴

going back an extra checkpoint is a endless death softlock failsafe which has existed in halo 2 as well, so waiting just a lil while before loading ur checkpoint again is a good idea if you dont wanna be brough 2 checkpoints back
Yeah this was a annoying one to get the first time I did it. I kept trying for another angle but this was the best angle. I was at the point where I wasn't sure if it was possible. But it was! Glad you got it yourself.

@@luovuttaa he's actually not. Harc probably knows more about the actual Halo games and their mechanics better than anyone on Earth, and I'm not even joking. A lot of RocketSloth's videos were basically them just following Harc around.
The reverting to 2nd previous checkpoint was a feature thats been in almost every halo. It was supposed to be to help mitigate soft locks(when a checkpoint hits right when your about to die)
Not sure if it only applies to halo 2 but i was messing around with that and it only gives me one checkpoint revert (from spam suicides) before locking it at the previous checkpoint. So in theory he could load the next checkpoint then trigger the revert so it locks it at the previous checkpoint. Not sure if it works differently with spamming the load last checkpoint button tho. Something im gonna play around with some more soon

I'm pretty sure a Vet like yourself knows if you die and respawn too quickly on a checkpoint, it brings you to the previous checkpoint in case you are stuck in a repetitive loop of death. It's been implemented since start. Lol

I’m an OG, oh god you’re doing spawn bumping. I remember doing that so so long ago in Halo CE to get into secret rooms in the pillar of autumn. Not fun trying to time all that and juggle two controllers.

Spawning at the previous spawn point is a feature. It's to help players that get stuck in a death loop upon spawn.
The feature usually takes affect once a player spawns 3-5 times within 5-10 seconds. While it's annoying when attempting glitches on purpose, it is still a very helpful and needed feature.

You mention hitting a button on the laptop and then turning and picking up the Xbox controller? Did the laptop require both hands? If it's just hitting a button, why not hold the Xbox controller constantly? Your tenacity is impressive. Don't end up hurting yourself because of it.
I wasn’t always looking straight down with player 2 when I got checkpoints, so I had to look down with a mouse and pick up my controller separately

So me and my buddy while playing through a few of the halo games on LASO figured out on MCC that if you end up reverting to last checkpoint fast enough the game will put you back one checkpoint

6:24, you respawn to previous checkpoint as a backup plan if your checkpoint us glitched or you get spawn killed nonstop at a checkpoint. This allows you to backtrack 1 checkpoint to rid yourself of the burden.
In this case it is a burden to you, not elevating a burden. Lol.
For a 50 who focuses on all these glitches tho… I’m surprised this has never come across your plate. This is in every Halo if a checkpoint is restarted enough, or if a checkpoint is forced enough.

Reverting to the previous checkpoint before the one you needed to retry over and over is normal, it's a mechanism in the checkpoint system that prevents soft locks in the games through death loops, or bad setups like not enough ammo to do the fight or whatever so you can go back one checkpoint further and change your strategy

aight so FIRST OF ALL not even 15 seconds into the video and you are already committing blasphemy... my guy Cortana is one of the absolute BEST missions. i know its not a easy mission but that shouldnt take away from the over all picture. first of all your litterally saving cortana which was a tear jerker from the get go but then you pair that with the reasonably hard mission of going through a covenant ship that is infested with the flood like... my guy this is halo at its PEAK... i remember growing up and being TERRIFIED of this mission and for good reason too... its the flood
