    In most states that's a felony charge to interfere with a hunter that is legally trying to take a game animal

    I had a guy threaten me once interfering with his right to hunt ducks. He called the game warden and while we were waiting on him, the guy took a swing at me. He got his ass beat, so the law came arrested me and the warden ticked me . Went to court and when the judge found out all this occurred on my private property, I went free. The cop and the warden got a lesson in front of everybody about landowners rights. Neither of them ever asked who the property belonged to!

    • @doubledroptinehunter
      @doubledroptinehunter 4 года назад +41

      But if you had mentioned it from the beginning you wouldn't have been the one arrested, it would have been the other fellow for trespassing, possibly assault also. You probably wouldn't have gotten any assault charge at all being he swung first if you had just spoken up. Don't think they really "learned a lesson" since you could have solved the situation from the start but chose to wait until a court appearance.

    Man, that sucks. It would be really hard to keep your cool in that situation. Me and my dad had a land owner try to run us off public land in New Mexico. The following morning he took a buddy in an ATV onto public land to shoot at a buck we had bedded that morning, just waiting to do a stalk. Called the game warden and they got busted for driving an ATV on public and guiding on public with a private land tag. It was gratifying to know they got what they deserved but it still screwed up our hunt.
    Some people really suck and need to quit hunting for sure.

    We had 400 acres to hunt on as teenagers. Close to a highway. Always had a nut or two ride by honking their horns. As a younger teen, I was with my best friend and his dad on his land once. We were sitting in the truck eating breakfast and another truck drove up to us. Dude was drunk and blabbing about he was going to hunt here today and there was nothing we could do. My friend's dad just kept eating his biscuit, while his .44 magnum was in his lap. After a while of hearing the drunk tell us what he was going to do, my friends dad said, "If you knew what was pointed at you right now, you'd back up and leave and never come back." The guy hesitated a bit, then slowly backed up and left. That was it.

    That’s awful sportsmanship would have been very hard for me not to have smacked that idiot like his daddy should have. I hunt public land here in Tennessee in addition to private. Last year me and my buddy roosted a turkey the night before season the next morning we were there first and were getting ready to set up on the bird and behind us came a truck a father and son got out and was asking where we were going so he could stay out of our way. Me and my buddy looked at each other and we instantly decided to tell the man and kid where the bird was roosted and we sent them in after him and the kid shot his first turkey and that feeling was better than us killing the turkey and that’s how a true outdoorsman should act.

    I hunt in Maryland and the attitude that people get when they see another hunter on public is crazy. I've been lucky just to get bad looks from other hunters on public and never dealt with crap like that. However I've been hollered at buy people who think they own the water while I've been fishing. A lady once told me that the bass I was catching on a section of the Potomac river were hers. I told her I was honored to meet her and I thanked her for stocking them as I continued to fish. The nerve of people.

    I got my first buck similar to this. I dropped a 9 pointer( should a been 10 but a tine abscessed ) ...as soon as the smoke cleared from the shot I heard " hay I got a stand in there !" From the road about 70 yards away. So I responded with " I need help dragging this giant buck out " . I will have to say the guy and his son maintained good behavior and even helped me load it in my truck. I told the guy it was my first buck ( I've always got doe as a kid.) And he seemed to be more forgiving.....moral of the story is " it's public land, if you don't want me getting your game then your ass better be in that stand before I wake up, cus if I know there is a animal to harvest I will harvest that animal".

    We actually had a helicopter pushing a big herd of elk off public land as we were hunting. This was WAY before cell phones so we didn’t get a pic. Even the registration number was masked. Turned it into the Game Warden and didn’t hear anything else. Such a shame cause we only go for cows to fill the freezer. That was our only protein back then.

    Hunted Colorado back in 2008 on public land, ranch hands on the adjacent properties would ride around at night on 4wheelers and shoot in the air keeping the elk from crossing over to public land.

    • @shermanmathieu6981
      @shermanmathieu6981 4 года назад

      That happens with hunting leases in the Big Cimarron of western Colorado. When they're demanding $3500 for a bull and $2500 for a cow, you can see why they do it. All the elk in Colorado know how to read and they stay behind private property signs.

    I had utah hunters do this to me last year opening day of early goose season. You want to know the best part? We were in Idaho, we were on private ground and they set up after us on public ground bordering the private ground. We would shoot geese coming to our decoys and they would start yelling F you, finally they put on red shirts and would stand straight up when a flock of birds would come in. Funniest part, we limited out and they killed one bird. I could not believe what was happening. 😡

    A buddy of mine had 300 acres that is land locked.
    So we have to cross the Ute Rez and another bit of land to get to it.
    Well the little bit of land had been bought by a local sheriff's deputy who came up on us blowing his horn.
    He jumps out with a 44 mag as a hand rest and his 14 ish year old son with a rifle.
    I was standing behind our truck with a loaded 10mm.
    Had either one pointed their weapons our way I was going to kill them both.
    It made me wonder why they felt safe to confront us the way they did?
    People do to crazy over elk.

      A friend of mine hunts next to his county Sheriff's place who told my friend not to shoot the deer on his own 10 acres b/c the sheriff was feeding those deer on HIS land & legally, that makes them his deer.
      My friend calls the game warden every time he takes a deer.
      The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has warned that Sheriff to not bear down on legal hunters or he's going to see what having a bear on him is like.

    I really don't understand why someone would do that when everyone has guns and YOU NEVER KNOW who will shoot ya for it,if I see other hunters I move far far away from them and let them do their thing and go elsewhere and hunt!

      If he lives in that area he does that's why you hire a guide and stick to privet land whenever you hunt out of state and observe all coman courtesy to the locals especially on states where hounds are legal for deer hunting the worse thing in places like that is calling the game wardens.
