- A classic VHS tape by the name of Ultimate Revenge 2 which featured Forbidden, Faith or Fear, Death, Dark Angel, and Raven. Look at the crowd! This is old school and these were the good ol days of metal. Just all out fun and thrash! Dark Angel one of the fastest thrash bands ever!

Forget anything you know about extreme music...this is Dark Angel...perfection in fast music. Classic, defining, punishing, amazing, unreal, fantastic, beautiful. If only we could have another "Leave Scars". Please reform and record another album of music for your die hard fans. There are so many of us !!! Long live Dark Angel !!!
Fully agreed...grew up with this band. Talk about state of the art speed metal. They were the highest standard around
100% agree, but it was kinda funny to see Gene miss his entrance fill after Jim started the first riff. You can see Mike looking over at Gene like, “Where are you, Gene?” at the 01:30 mark.

The fact is Gene was roadie for Slayer. He was just a kid. But he was way faster than Dave in the beginning

This is crazy. I grew up around Ron because we went to the same church.. 20 years later I found out he was in a band this big and that's crazy! He's an awesome guy

Gene Hoglan was originally a roadie for Slayer,and even tried out to be their drummer when Dave first left.No doubting Slayers intensity and longevity,but Dark Angel have the edge for pure speed and technical skill!

i seen these guys early 90's California theater, San Diego California. opened for Testament. same line up. these old shows were the fucking best.

This is integrity, purpose, and a band playing straight from the depths of their blackened souls, as much sonic carnage as you'll ever see on a stage! Saw em' many times and never felt more alive-shout out to Mr. Eric Meyer, a helluva musician and an even better dude!

I seen them the first time 1990. California Theater in San Diego. They killed it then. They opened for Testament. I was in 11th grade then. I am 47 now and still jam to them on a regular.
I saw them with Possessed & Cryptic Slaughter at Fender's in the late 80's..I think Evil Dead opened the show

I always thought that DARK ANGEL never made it big because everybody around them were afraid of these infernal beasts of perfection!!! (meaning other bands that played in the same venue).
When Dark Angel Arrived the Darkness Descends. They truly changed Thrash Metal, the Left Scars and not even the Time gonna heal us.

Nice to see Good Ole Thrash Metal. I am honored to say that I would hang around with these these guys back in the late 80's. I would go to the City of Vernon in an industrial building and see them rehearse. Armored saint and Megadeth would also rehearse there,; Megadeth moved out once they got big like in 87 or 88. I was also part time roadie for another punk band called Lucky 7 (crazy ass Dino "Iswear to God I do not shoot up,dude) located at the same bldg.Good crazy old memories.Gene Rules.

I saw them about two weeks later at The Stone in San Francisco. To this day...oh so many years later, I still talk about how badass they were...and how BIG Gene was. I had seen a lot of metal bands by 89- but Gene was a whole different breed. Funny, I hardly recall seeing Death or Sadus that night. Pestilence also played. Pits were so much different. Oh-I didnt mention- I had never heard The Immigrant Song before Leave Scars came out.
That was the style at the time and posers back then were hair metal.

I was fucking there. Bought a tape. I can't believe I'm seeing this 1988 has to be. Every Sunday. The trocadero. In China town area. I saw every great metal band there. Except metalligaga. Megadeth Slayer testament nuclear assault overkill. Soulfly. Hatebreed. Black dahlia murder. By accident. Great years. Best for metal. I actually forget a lot of the bands I saw every Sunday. For 3 years straight. Missed most Mondays from high school. Pit damage. Wouldn't change it for the world. I am who I am now because of it. And my sons don't follow. So there's no pop. And hip hop. Though I listened to hip hop back then. It's an annoying genre. Been annoying from at least 1990. It should die like disco.
