I've always thought that "Darkness Descends" was the album that should have been everything that "Reign In Blood" is. Dark Angel are awesome and "Darkness Descends" is one of my top-3 thrash albums of all time!

Angel of Death is one of the band's best track, the title track is good, Post-mortem is great as well. Necrophobic is cool because of the speed but has no lasting value whatsoever. And the rest pretty much sucks. This album is even more overrated than Master of Puppets it's crazy

Isn't it amazing how the death/thrash genre has some of the greatest metal musicians of all time, Gene Hoglan, Steve DiGiorgio, Darren Travis, Atheist's bassist on Piece of Time...
i remember having known of this band around 15 years ago, and accepting the fact that i won't ever see them live. But a couple of years later (2014), they decided to reunite, and make their first concert in decades in my country. I was blown away. They came last year to the same festival, and they still sound like a cannon!. The band was so cool that they even took time to walk around the park and have a chat and pics with the public. I went to take a pee real quick after they left the stage, and i just walked past Reinhart, i went back and took a photo and had a little chat with him. Really nice guys and excellent band
Dark Angel was one of the most finest thrash metal band ever. All their albums were excellent master pieces. Check their Leave Scars for example. Hoglan, just a monster!

I saw these guys at one of the first shows...anyone remember Chuck Landis' Country Club in Reseda? I can't even explain how intense early Dark Angel shows were. Back then tt was almost a point of pride that you were going to outdo your album in sheer speed and/or mayhem, and fuck note-for-note perfection. And even though later singers were very talented, Dody just belonged there. Fuck those were good times.

Death Angel, Sadus, Kreator, Nuclear Assault etc. There are just so many good thrash bands from the 80s, the big 4 represent the most extreme at the time, partially from being the first on the scene, such that they carried the torch. You might point out about how Metallica is tame compared to a lot, but where would these bands be without Metallica exposing the world to thrash? And thats the point.
Goabnb94 the big 4 is was just a name for the 4 most popular thrash bands, if you were going by how extreme they sound the german bands would crush them as well as bands like demolition hammer.
Man I remember seeing these guys support Nuclear Assault on the Handle With Care tour in Wolverhampton. Someone ripped Ron's t-shirt off when he dived in the pit so Nuclear Assault only played one encore because his tee wasn't given back. Dan Lilker was moshing like a madman during Dark Angel's set.

Why not explore a new sound? Death Angel, Sadus, Kreator, Nuclear Assault etc. There are just so many good thrash bands from the 80s, the big 4 represent the most extreme at the time, partially from being the first on the scene, such that they carried the torch. You might point out about how Metallica is tame compared to a lot, but where would these bands be without Metallica exposing the world to thrash? And thats the point.
Goabnb94 the big 4 is was just a name for the 4 most popular thrash bands, if you were going by how extreme they sound the german bands would crush them as well as bands like demolition hammer.
Man I remember seeing these guys support Nuclear Assault on the Handle With Care tour in Wolverhampton. Someone ripped Ron's t-shirt off when he dived in the pit so Nuclear Assault only played one encore because his tee wasn't given back. Dan Lilker was moshing like a madman during Dark Angel's set.

@BLACKS4BBB I wonder if the majority of comments to these videos are written by 15 year old kids who, unlike me, weren't even alive when this shit came out. We'd be buying albums, T-shirts and going to concerts by Metallica, Exodus, Possessed, Venom, Dark Angel, Kreator, etc, etc. There was no good, bad, better or wtf else. It was all metal and all good.

I can never understand bass player's. If I was a bass player I surely would not have the sound or tone like the intro to this song, first of all it sounds like shit and secondly it is shit. Why not explore a new sound? Plug a fukin distortion pedal in that bitch, they have bass EFX pedals, have a unique sound rather then that same ol bland sound that every fukin bass playr use basically I would want my bass to sound like Cliff's on Anesthesia, but at all times, that would be "my sound" and it would be bad ass too, now that's cool!!!
