Greetings from germany! December 1985: asked my aunt to buy the "To mega therion" album for my birthday as a present. And yes: she did! Told me that the people in the record store looked at her as if she had gone totally mad. No wonder why: the cover artwork was extreme and no one expected that such a lady would by such a hard stuff. What a cool surprise to get this masterpiece from her hands. Still have it today. Sadly i never saw Celtic Frost live on stage. But they were god-like here in germany back in those days within the extremely fast growing (Thrash) Metal Scene. This song here is.....forever! Greater than great!

celtic frost is not underrated at all, they are well highly respected in the metal community and if you were to look back at thrash, death and black metal bands from the 80s influences you’re gonna see celtic frost a lot.
I dont think the music press knew what to do with them (particularly after that thankfully brief glam phase). They just didnt fit neatly into any category. They sounded like thrash kinda, but it wasnt thrash and they dressed more trad metal. Black metal wasnt really invented yet, and anyway they where never panda enough for that, but it probably the closest fit since it was definately dark as hell, especially the older post-hellhammer stuff. And it wasnt technical so it didnt really fit death either. Not really biker enough to be accused of being a motorhead knockoff. They where just their own thing,
Not only that, with the exception of small to very small venues where front line means y have the band right in front of you. In big venues you need binoculars to watch the band its ridiculous

Satanic Rites группы Hellhammer, и To mega Therion Селтик Фрост - мои самые любимые альбомы, которые по моему мнению внесли огромнейший вклад в развитие трэш, и блэк, и экстремальный металл. After the battle is over
And the sands drunken the blood
All what there remains
Is the bitterness of delusion
Circle of the tyrants
The immortality of the gods
Sits at their side
As they leave the walls behind
To reach the jewel's gleam
Circle of the tyrants
The days have come
When the steel will rule
And upon his head
A crown of gold
Your hand wields the might
The tyrant's the precursor
You carry the will
As the morning is near
I sing the ballads
Of victory and defeat
I hear the tales
Of frozen mystery
Your hand wields the might
The tyrant's the precursor
You carry the will
As the morning is near
The new kingdoms rise
By the circle of the tyrants
In the land of darkness
The warrior that was me
Grotesque glory
None will ever see them fall
And hunts and wars
Are like everlasting shadows
Where the winds cannot reach
The tyrant's might was born
And often I look back
With tears in my eyes
Grotesque glory
None will ever see them fall
And hunts and wars
Are like everlasting shadows
