Taylor, My daughter and I are watching everyone of your videos (even the prep ones) and your hike energy is contagious! My daughter just turned 12 and she didn’t realize that youtube vlogging exists so this is all a new experience for her to follow someone else’s day to day life. Today we laced up our shoes and walked 2 miles. Doesn’t seem like much I know but yesterday and the days before we didn’t walk anywhere near that so I thank you for the inspiration Taylor!
Clayton, Georgia is my husbands home town. When we first got married 44 years ago, that town was so small ,I think it had one red light. Days Inn defiantly was not there:)) There has been several movies made there. One was Deliverance with Burt Reynolds and another one was Killing Season with John Travolta. My husband remembers growing up there when Deliverance was filmed. He has hiked, hunted and fished all through those mountains. I have been following and loving your you tube channel and along with my husband was thrilled to see you stayed in Clayton. Thank you so much for sharing. Due to some health issues, I'm following my dream of hiking AT through you:)))
@@ritadecicco7627 Wow!! That's great. I think you will love it. We live in Tennessee now but try to visit my husbands family as often as we can. I always love going there.

Clayton is a great city to visit! We try and go there atleast once every month or two since we live about an hour and fifteen minutes away. Congratulations on getting into North Carolina! Thank you for sharing!
Clayton Ga and Franklin are my two favorite towns...they are so welcoming and cutest little towns...outdoor 76 is the coolest store too...congrats on your first border crossing and keep up your awesome trek. Also, when we stayed at Standing Indian shelter a bear got everyone's food in all the trees, but that was 2yrs ago....it was definitely an experience. HAPPY HIKING!
We lived in Clayton for six years, absolutely loved it! We also lived in Otto NC for a year. Loved it but my wife passed away while in Otto and my daughters wanted me nearer so they could take care of me if needed! So, I am back in Augusta Ga. I haul my camper to Mountain City a lot and still roam the mountains. Franklin has my favorite restaurant, Cafe REL. I you want gourmet food at a reasonable price, this is the place! Located in the Hot Spot gas station on Business hwy 28, or it may be E. Main St. you will not be disappointed!
@@jameshoehn4673 thank you so much for letting me know about Cafe Rel...we saw it there and wondered if it was good or not, so will definitely try it next time were there...enjoy Augusta, some of my family lives there and it's nice, but its definitely not the Mountains ...thanks for all the info!
Your videos are very educational for your viewers. Please keep us informed as often as possible on the do’s and don’ts that you are learning a long the way. Thanks for what you’re doing.
Thank you for showing food/resupplies. I've had to postpone my thruhike due to a broken ankle, so its nice to see and give myself a better idea for when I can get back out there.
Great hiker, fun videos. Taylor you are making a tough hike look easy...pulling big miles with no complaints. Best wishes as you enter State#2 that you remain strong, healthy and positive!
I live about 90 minutes south of Clayton and that area is where we camp whenever we can escape. That Ingles is our place to restock during long camping trips.
Watching your last year's hike since I"m all caught up on this year's, lol, and it is so cool to see you stayed in Clayton, GA. I have stayed in that very motel!! That's probably as close as I'll ever get to hiking the AT, but it's neat to watch other people doing it.
I hiked the AT last year and start the PCT in3 weeks. I’ve watched a few of your videos and gotta say I don’t see you not making it to Maine. Keep that positive attitude and enjoy the miles and smiles.
Your doing great. I’m so glad you seem to be in such high spirits. It’s great that you are interested in how your fellow thru hikers are doing. It shows your a caring person. Keep up your awesome hike.
Congrats on Carolina. Every time I see that sign the James Taylor song goes thru my mind "Going to Carolina". You're killing the miles great job keep hiking strong!!!

Awesome. All caught up now. Love following your journey. I am there to the end. I can’t wait for next one . I love hiking and am learning stuff from you. You rock
I like it when you show other hikers and the shelter area with tents. I bought a new tent and backpack for hiking this year..north and south of Damascus..we may see you! Sandalwood, the Canadian hiker. Stay upbeat strong and happy.
In a pinch, if you have a small knife, it’s easy to carve a stake out of a stick. Just carve it to the right size, sharpen one end, and put a barb on the other! If you ever need an emergency one 😉
Congrats on reaching North Carolina! You definitely cruised through GA. I hope the weather in the Smokies won't be too bad. Plus you have the NOC and Fontana to look forward to. Nice shout-out to Clayton, which is not far away from where I used to live in Clemson, SC. There's a lot of great hiking throughout that whole area, in addition to the AT.
One thing I thought I could improve on from my hike is my food intake. Based on my weight I thought I nailed the calories and proteins but I think I could do a bit better on the healthy fats. Would be very interested seeing your food choices and how they worked for you.
Outdoor Adventures I know it takes a while for hiker hunger to set in. I lost 15 lbs in the first 15 days on the JMT. I’m curious how your diet (Frozen) changed from Springer onward (without going back through the videos 😜) and yes, look forward to seeing how this tough mudder adapts as the miles pile up!!!! Olive oil, Avocado 🥑, and nutty friends unite 😉
Love your vids. And I’ve been following AT /PCT/ CDT Thur hikers for a few yrs now..on U Tube. . The food is a very exciting part of the hikes.👍🏼😆 your doing great! Keep smiling 🙂

I was in Clayton and Hiawassee about 5 years ago the water was lay down in Hiawassee and people are selling property all over the place looks like you need a little skirt or maybe a floor in your tent will be getting cold air coming under the bottom of that tent but wait till you get up around Asheville North Carolina now that is some mountains I see a lot of rhododendrons which are also known as the Cherokee Rose when they bloom in the spring the nose running for me is from the mold and the mildew from the wet leaves of winter
