This is one the most amazing sports accomishments of all time, because of the 40+ day length of: the sustained courage, pain, and all out effort. Plus, the training that went into being fit enough to do this. Absolutely remarkable!
I teared up at the end, good for Tara. I’d say it’s a noteworthy accomplishment for this year from the world of sports. Let’s not forget that in 2024 Jasmin Paris conquered Barkley, and did so in unintentional dramatic fashion at the finish line with seconds to spare. On August 31, Kilian Jornet finished his Alpine Connections project, linking all 82 4,000 meter peaks of the Alps in a jaw dropping 19 days. But… Candy Mama averaged somewhere around 55 miles/+13,000’/18 hrs per day for 40 days straight on a trail that is often more so just a series of rocks and tree roots to take the overall AT FKT…so you’re right, total bad@$$ and legendary performance. I didn’t think 2024 could top 2023.
She’s talented but in the past decade other women have held the overall FKTs on the AT and PCT. And i think AZT and possibly more. She’s not an anomaly.
Dang ladies, first Courtney’s mind blowing triple, then Jasmin’s epic Barkley finish now this! wtf is happening!? Sooo amazing and inspiring. Guys your gonna have to pick it up if you’d wanna stay in the game 😆 Huge historic accomplishment Tara 😊
Oooooof! This was freaking awesome Tara and TEAM!!! Love the race car analogy. Pretty sure HOTTOGO is gonna be the sound track of summer running here in NZL!! You guys crushed this thing... Chump Change indeed!! ❤❤❤❤
Ahh frigging mazing!! Saw a clip on the news and it blew me away. You’ve come a long way, baby, from the Dower Duo days. Congratulations, Tara, you are a machine.
This conquest is something unbelievable. I'm an ordinary runner and I can't imagine what it's like to run 80km on the trail for 40 days in a row. A woman's strength is limitless! Congratulations, Tara!
An epic feat for the ages, I am so in awe. I got to chat with her support crew in Shenadoah NP and they were incredibly fun and friendly. Later I got to see Tara and JP run by. It made me wish I were 30 years younger and as daring and bold as them.
Not to take anything away from Courtney, but I don't think her 2024 really compares to Katie's 2024 simply because of less competitive races. Katie blew the roof off two of the most competitive women's hundred milers of all time. I have a tough time comparing a FKT to race results, but this is obviously extremely impressive. Also, Jasmin's Barkley finish is obviously similarly historic.
Watching this while holding my six month old daughter while she sleeps with tears in my eyes. I’ll show her this one day as proof she can do anything she wants
Amazing....!! What does overall FKT mean......I know supported, self supported, unsupported.......just curious....any how not sure how anyone can do what she just did.......!!!!
Something I have not been able to find the answer to. Did she run the red route or did she run another route that was shorter. Did she run the whole trail or did she do bypasses? Can't find the answer to this.
when you put it that way, you could make the argument that there are only a few basic storylines in any given domain and everything ever produced is an homage to one of the 4 or 5 forms..you might like reading the book "Story" by Robert McKee..talks about this at length
Please don't do this to the AT, it should be enjoyed for it's beauty and ecology. If you want to do a race, do a marathon or a Mudder, or some other insane invention to prove how tough you are before you blow out your knees, hips or ankles, and suffer the permanent injuries. Moderation in all things is a smart guide to life.
We are in awe of Tara's tenacity and so honored to support her.
Brings tears to my eyes

@@user-ze9uy5iq5oYou make a great point about Jasmine Paris and Barkley.
More than two marathons a day for 40daya straight... that's superhuman/superhero type stuff.
She's definitely a different breed of athlete.
What a baddie, she’s single-handedly elevated women in sport with this
She’s talented but in the past decade other women have held the overall FKTs on the AT and PCT. And i think AZT and possibly more. She’s not an anomaly.
I think a better description is she single-handedly elevated sport in general. Set a new benchmark for all.
Candy Mama half-moons the world 2:55 and keeps going! She can’t be stopped. Congrats to Tara and crew for one awesome FKT!
What an incredible feeling!

Unbelievable!!! What an amazing individual AND team effort. Humans are bloody amazing when we pull together
She surely earned a Barkley spot.
Goose bump material.❤
Congratulation Tara! That is one hell of a life goal completed! You are a beast girl! I LOVE IT!
That is fantastic. Great accomplishment. Take a rest

Uroy? I know Katie and Courtney both had banger years, but this feat by Tara feels transcendental.
Not to take anything away from Courtney, but I don't think her 2024 really compares to Katie's 2024 simply because of less competitive races. Absolutely incredible undertaking and accomplishment. Congratulations to Tara and "the team". Woohoo!

❤❤❤
Incredible!
Thanks for watching!
Tara?! I ran XC with here in high school for a moment at WFHS. The algorithm recommending this is insane!!
this is INSANE
That's why this sport is so friggin awesome
Watching this while holding my six month old daughter while she sleeps with tears in my eyes. I’ll show her this one day as proof she can do anything she wants

Good question! It just means that of all the formats you've mentioned there, she has the fastest time of any
@@runsingletrack Thanks
Please interview Katharina Hartmuth
Complete opposite of my quiet walk in the woods when I did the AT 20 years ago
And both are awesome experiences
How many hours did Tara sleep?
Something I have not been able to find the answer to. Did she run the red route or did she run another route that was shorter. Did she run the whole trail or did she do bypasses? Can't find the answer to this.
I did the entire Appalachian Trail end to end
That is a truly fantastic accomplishment. Congratulations.
Can I get a heeelll yea?!
heeullllllllllyeaaaaa!!!!
Tara Dower -an incredble ultramarathoner- an ultramarathoner completes -an amazing fkt- medicore fkt of the -popular- little known AT.
Camille is that you?
😂😂😂
Fastest racecar I ever seen
*Short Film
Was that a Shane Gillis joke at 3:53?
Yea lol
😂😂
I wonder if she enjoyed any vistas or a quiet night camping under the stars??? I see replies recorded for posts, but they have been wiped.......
I bet she did!
3:37
Imagine how fast a guy will do it in now!
All ultra videos are the same basically: look I'm tired and it hurts but I've got a lot of support staff! Okay, womp womp.

A Kenyan marathoner will eat this trail with an Empala around his neck.
I’d love to see it
@@taratreks you did well Tara. 2200 miles in just over a month.
I wanted to see more running and less sitting
basically had people carrying her
no wayyyy
Let’s see you try. Say you don’t understand the sport without saying you don’t understand the sport.
lol
Cool accomplishment, but being spoon fed??My lord lol
Yes and I loved it 😁
This is like buying the fastest car at a dealership, then winning races against home made cars. No real comparison . What’s the point?
Not sure I agree with the comparison here..in fact, I don't agree..lol
@@runsingletrack what did she do? Hand feeding? No pack ? Supported all the way. What was achieved? Do some thing the fastest? No challenge.
So let’s see you do it. We’ll wait. Oh you can’t? Thought so.
I’m
R u Tara treks?
