Good Monday morning, Rose! Well, I'm not sure if it's "supposed" to be done or not, but I have done it in quilt many, many times. I have never had a problem mixing flannel with regular cotton. The way I thought about it, is flannel is still 100% cotton, it's just brushed. But as long as it's quilted down, I think it's fine. I hope this helps.
What size needle do you recommend for this project? I thought I was doing it all correctly. So another day will try again. I wish I could get closer to the zipper teeth when top stitching. Marie, you make things look so easy...
Hi Portia! I used a size 14 needle for this project. I'm sorry that you're having trouble with this. Im assuming youre usung a zipper foot. Hi Donna! Actually, a form of this coin purse has been floating around the Internet for many years. I just kind of "jazz" mine up a little bit with scraps.
Marie, I keep watching this tutorial and have a couple questions. What size needle do you use making these, and would it possible to put a pocket inside? My grandson just got his learner's permit. I was thinking this would be great for him to carry that and school ID card.
Portia, I think that probably would be a way to do it, but I am sick in bed with the flu or covid, I'm not sure which. I can't think beyond my next thought at the moment. Please remind me if I forget about this, as that is a great idea and I'm sure it's something I could figure out.
Oh my goodness, Linda. I'm sorry that you don't have family to craft for. Actually, our ex daughter-in-law was that way. If I made something for our grandchildren, it never got used because she wanted it to have a name brand on it. So I guess I do understand that there are people like that. Its very sad, in my opinion. What if you gave your items to charity and they could either give it to someone who needed it or sell it in order to make money for the charity?

You did it and it doesn't matter if it's perfect or not, you have to remember that you accomplished something that you've never done before. I promise it will get easier and better from here, but I'm very proud of you! Give yourself a pat on the back, you deserve it!
@@MariesScrappyCreations thanks for the help and vote of confidence! I tried to send a pic of my creation, but don't know how to on utube. I was surprised because the zipper I used was one I took out of my grandsons old pants so it was shorter than you used. I figured if I mess up again, it wouldn't be a new zipper....lol💕
You're the best!!!
@@portialanden6353 You're very welcome! No, it's not you, you can't share pictures on RUclips, unfortunately. I tried that a year or 2 ago, thinking it was something I could do, but no such luck. Just be careful with your zippers, because if you're sewing over them like i did in the video, they can't be the metal kind. I use only nylon zippers for those types of projects. I applaud you reusing a zipper you had, I love that! I love to reuse! If you want to email me a picture, you could send to my email address: mariesscrappycreations@yahoo.com
@@MariesScrappyCreations I will do that, email you, thanks!
@@portialanden6353 You're welcome! Make sure you get 2 "s" in my email address, a lot of people only put one and then it doesn't get through.
Marie how do you learn how to make all these bags?
@@MariesScrappyCreations oh Marie, I am so sorry you're sick. Please take care. Sending prayers for a speedy recovery 🙏
@@portialanden6353 Thank you so much! I am feeling a lot better, just weak and tired. But I'm definitely on the mend!
@@MariesScrappyCreations Happy Birthday!
Thank you Portia 😊
I love making all kinds of crafts but no where to sell and family does not like handmade items and that is sad
