I have a question: what is this black tape on the top of everything and especially ssd? I assume that it's better to keep ssd open for better heat dissipation? But why they covered it from the factory? As I'm waiting for new ssd to come and think about to put copper plate, radiator on the top of it and think to put this black tape back or make a hole for ssd? ssd I've purchased is Corsair MP600 Micro 1Tb, i've read in some reviews that it may get hot under load

i think the black tape might be for either thermal control or anti--static not too sure

Hey Rick! Just wanna let you know how this video helped me so much. I do have another question if you don't mind. How you I improve the thermals for the small SSD during idle? Do you reckon using a thermal pad would help?

Thanks for this tear down. I just bought this same laptop and when I press on the bottom vents of the case, tgere's a sticky clicking noise, like a creak. I'm assuming it must be that black tape that is glued over the heat pipes. Thought there might be something wrong with it. But perhaps it's just the sticky side of that black tape. That must be some type of thermal tape?

That sucks is soldered you can't upgrade the RAM better get another laptop upgradable for storage, memory RAM, PCIe stuff like that
