It just depends on your lifestyle. Most student probably going to hold something in their other hand so opening a laptop with one hand is really useful. A good laptop can make a hinges that last for ages even if you can open it one hand or two hand.

As you probably have been made aware, there is an OLED option for this device when ordering from Lenovo. Highly recommended. Still got it for under 1k this July.

Factor in that next month, we will see a new Strix, and consumers should be wary of the billion-dollar marketing push by Qualcomm and MS. The 14-inch is £900 in the UK for 1TB/16GB with the same display (no other display option or 16-inch). If you mainly use an external display at home or work, then this seems to be of excellent value.

I don't see the point of the tablet part in a 4.4 pound 2-in-1. My previous laptop was a 2-in-1, 3.2 pounds. After holding it in tablet mode for 20 minutes, it feels like my wrists were going to break off.

Everywhere I look it's the normal IPS be it the 14 or 16", where does one even find that OLED model? The IPS has 45% NTSC which I feel isn't the best for drawing and such
I own the 14' OLED model and the display is absolutely gorgeous, 100% DCI-P3 coverage and the laptop itself weighs less than the IPS version. The iGPU is comparable to a Max-Q 1050Ti perf-wise, so operate on that assumption and you'll be fine.
I just bought this today from Best Buy here in Toronto. I swear the Galaxy Tab 8 is better 😅 but, upon exchanging Dell for this, is there a better recommendation you have in mind? The i5 is smaller, not a fan of Acer.

have the previous series, yoga 6 with also ryzen 7 (previous gen, 7000 series) for almost 2 years, the things that i like about this upgrade: 16“ with full size keyboard, more usb-a ports (mine only one on the right side), swappable hardware (very much respected), the front camera quality is actually good! things that considered to be improved next: pen still shall be charged with A4 battery which is hard to find, not practical. there’s a behavior of amd chips that i discovered lately on my laptop, they used to got „hanged“ if it’s on mode optimized performance on the heavy work load, usually can be covered by hard restart, but they don’t slowing down, they literally got hanged and you can’t do anything about it except hard restart.

Adobe premier pro should not be a selling point. If you need to cancel to get it then they will charge you more than that to use it. If you need to sign up to use it them it will cost you more than the 2 free months to cancel.

I think that's worth the extra dollars, but if it isn't then buying secondhand from companies are usually the norm for ThinkPad users anyways.

No HDMI and no full size sd card reader, I wish they would stop with mini sd card readers. I would rather they had none, and I would just use my full size sd card reader dongle. I hate the number pad, and two 2 watt speaker cannot be that good, sorry. The color gamut is not only not good, it is atrocious. NO THANK YOU for this laptop

There needs to be an ARM Snapdragon version of this laptop. The Slim 7x doesn't support MPP pens.
