This is NOT A GUIDE VIDEO, it only shows what generally required to get it done, and by all means, you are performing all these soldering AT YOUR OWN RISK.
EDIT: Video for RAM configuration strap is still in editing process.
To be honest, to perform 32GB & 64GB upgrade for now is quite expensive and not worth for some people(unless you have production company etc). Contact us for latest pricing:

These guys make it look so much easier than it is. Those tiny capacitors and resistors are so much smaller than they look in this video. I appreciate this!
yea man i killed one of my graphics card while trying to reball memory and didnt knew knocked one off
I did this for years can confirm. But was always a great accomplishment
Keren banget ...
Even with him making it look simpler, it still looked like a LOT of work,...ugh! I wouldn't dare ever attempt this. I wish Apple would make RAM and SSDs removable.
@@ChristmasEve777 no its their cash cow. they want to steal money from users.
The nostalgia of upgrading a 2012 MacBook pro in 2 minutes is hitting hard 😢
for 1299 they will upgrade in 1min :D
This video popped up on my news feed and I couldn't resist the urge to comment.
I have never owned a MacBook, and hopefully never will, but thank you for making this content for those that own one and need this, people like you make tech awesome.
That being said, it is a disgrace that videos like this exist, in this day and age, you're not allowed to easily upgrade your devices, especially at these price points, and you have to resort to risky, warranty voiding, low level processes, just to give your devices a few more years of life
Well, that's Apple for you.
Umm, my Zenbook has the same limited upgradeability as Macbook, things that only upgradeable just the M.2 SSD
Planned Obsolescence at its finest. Refuse to buy deliberately designed inferior products. Vote with your wallet.
any higher end laptops have the same limitations, and they aren't making it solely for the sake of profit, but rather engineers are trying to reduce breaking points, which don't exist on soldered parts. I don't really understand why only apple gets hate for this, as my workplace assigned laptop (lenovo x1 carbon) has the same parts soldered too.
@@jani0077 this. apple deserves all the hate from their anti-consumer practices, but i'm sure this isn't the one for it.
Really glad you're around guys! You're leading the industry and make it fun to watch as well.
thank you for your kind words. that'll help to keep us going
I always wondered if it was possible to upgrade soldered ram on a laptop with a smd rework station, and this answers that. Sucks you need a few resistors to set the value, so I guess it isn't that easy to do. Thanks for your work on your channel, it's great stuff.
L
yeah, some of the 8gb laptops are a PAIN in the ass to work on... but the CPU is maybe 4 core and is Ok, and the SSD can be upgraded so it is really a bummer
trick is to get a high resolution image of the same mac with higher ram, then it will be just a fill in the blank game
dude, if you can get ram chips and solder bga chips, you can get a few resistors
same here
More high quality repair work shared to the community. I will definitely be using your Macbook QC form too. Thanks iBof Mat
it's like upgrading the ram on a steam deck🤣🤣🤣
I am amazed it's even possible to swap out those soldered on components. Very good job done there.
You guys did an amazing job with this upgrade.
This is well beyond my technical capabilities to do, but a really cool video for hardware geeks like me!
Astonished to see this unique video. I had never seen such hardware upgrade so much precisely
This is awesome as always! Can't wait to see what you do with M1/Pro/Max
M1 would be amazing when it's possible
Chinese maintenance engineers can already expand the capacity of the Apple M1. The 8GB memory has been expanded to 16GB, and the 256GB hard drive has been expanded to 1TB
@@adredyCan you give further information? I have read several news about it, but have never seen any evidence for it.
Wow!
I stared at the video like a kid seeing candy!
I enjoyed a lot and your voice accompanies the process love it!
Thank you for sharing this video!
You’re a PRO, man. Respect. Excellent video🎉
I appreciate that!
This is great stuff! Amazing to watch
you really know what your doing, Amazing to watch
amazing channel found it only this week , love your work stay on :)
This is a very clean job. it's quite impossible to damage chips with this technique, but i usually slightly move the chip to check if it's sitted well, i don't trust the first "snap" 😁
That was fun to watch, I always wondered if it was possible to replace soldered ram.
of course just a matter of how bad the company is in stealing from users.
great job ! This is awesome ❤
Eye-Opening, Entertaining and Educational.
What an amazing video. Great job! 👏🏽
Amazing work
Amazing process, thanks for sharing the knowledge. This is the kind of videos we need, so that other good people can perform this service and apple can screw itself
Been watching y’all since the insane 2012 MacBook Pro. Just got one of these models for repair, wondering if the 128g Toshiba child are replaceable. If you have any info please let me know! Thanks for spreading your knowledge to the world!
wow very well made sir. respect
As amazing as it was to watch this process, I'm more interested in the price tag for such services. Being able to upgrade older hardware for it to continue to be useful rather than an old paper weight is great. Especially when the original manufacturer doesn't offer such things, which I'm sure many existing customers would appreciate and would ensure customer loyalty. hint hint. Of course, this isn't to say that this compares to getting your hands on the new top tier M1/M2 hardware, but the idea of discarding old hardware every other few years is absurd when it can have a 2nd or 3rd life cycle instead of ending in a land fill.
apple is bad for the environment everyone that buys apple products are anti earth.
Awesome Job !
This was a great video. While I did upgrade my SSD, my coolant paste, and my battery, after watching that video, my nose is bleeding.
great content bro...
Very good video. Congratulations!
Wow! Great job.
The video just confirms, I should not remotely consider buying Apple hardware with later planning to upgrade. Only option buy what you will need as final configuration.
very interesting video..Never thought upgrading the ram is possible in the first place on recent MacBook Pro's.
Please could you share the background music?
I can manage one or two bgas but 16 chips on two sides of the board is nuts. Definitely the best professional.
Performed a surgery with a breezy commentary. Gotta love content creator like him.
Really incredible, can you upgrade M1 macbook ram? Also, can I ask how much this upgrade costs, the one in the video? Thank you.
That’s what I call a surgery! You’re a really professional.
Interesting. I would have never thought this was possible but it requires some serious equipment and skill.
How much do you charge for such an upgrade?
Bekasi pride💪
very professional..i have subscribed
Easy Peasy! got it, off to do mine!
that an incredible work thank for this content i learn more today ^^
Terbaik la bang.
Love this video :)
Thanks for your sharing!
Wow, super!
Great Vid!!!!
excelente video!!
This guy made a video tutorial as if he expects us to have the right tools, skills, experience and equipment to do all this at home.
Apple and apple fanboys: "You can't upgrade the ram it's soldered in!!!"
iBoff: *hold my beer*
thank you very much for the information friend, success always
Superb
This video is great
What’s the cost for this upgrade?
2$
@@failuretolife5623 heh 2 dollars in parts but with all the eq and skill needed likely 100 dollars 1-2hr.
apple really stealing from users.
I agree, you guys make it look super easy. Here's a difficult question perhaps you can help answer, I purchased the new Yoga Book 9 (13IRU8) Dual Screen that was just released. The issue with this laptop is that it has 16GB soldered into it. The motherboard is Intel Alder Lake-P PCH / LENOVO LNVNB161216, Intel Core i7-1355U and the current memory clock is at 2593 Mhz.
Is it possible to upgrade to a 32GB or even 64GB?
Hey
What was the total cost for this replacement?
Awesome video! Have you ever replaced BGA CPUs on Macs before?
wooow im from egypt and i wish i could rich you and do that ..but is so hard ...respect guys for such amazing work
Good video, thank you.
Glad you liked it!
No way I didn't think that was possible 🤯
Is it possible to put thunderbolt 3/usb c ports on a 2015 era thunderbolt 2 MacBook? Will be limited by thunderbolt 2 speed of course tho but still just curious
Please i need your assistance on my MacBook pro 2019 16 inch. It keeps on restarting at 16 percent when trying to install the macbookpro and it reboot with an error message, Kernel Panic boot loop. But works perfectly well when i boot from an external storage drive.
liked as soon as I saw Ainsley
So much struggle for a machine 5yo... 8th gen Intel CPU. LOL. On the other hand, I liked the soldering very much!
It makes me happy to see video's like this after so many years of Apple removing functionality from their machines, I recently bought an M1 and would love to upgrade it to max specs in a couple years if it makes sense financially.....
Buying it was a mistake already
@@arkvsi8142 what do you consider not a mistake? Certainly not 90% of the pc laptops I have come across.
@@arkvsi8142 say that to the power efficiency you cant get in a windows pc
@@jedics1 not a mistake = buy a laptop that
- Has a charging board separated from the Motherboard
- SSDs. rams are upgradable (not soldered)
- Is easy to open (no risk on breaking anything because of yes)
- Has all the necessary ports
- is bootloader / bios / uefi unlocked
@@memes_gbc674 those are pros and cons of cpu architecture power needs. no solution
Perfect job. upperPro level)))
The serial number is still visible during the intro lol
Noob status
What can a serial number do to security?
@@vincwong8498 probably apple can deactivate this MacBook through the serial number
@@vincwong8498 They can report the pc as stollen with the serial

very cool
How can I get you to do this to my 13-inch 2015 MacBook Pro that only has 8 gigs 😢
9:04 😂 yeah boy
Thanks for sharing, I wish i could do all of what you doing with that macbook 😅
Fantastic how easy apple makes ram upgrades. Almost as easy as SD upgrades
Best vedio ❤️❤️❤️
Hi, do you think its possible to upgrade the ram memory of a Lenovo Legion Go from 16gb to 32gb using the same technique?
I have an old macbook pro retina from 2012, it should be upgradable to 16gb but do you know if you can put 32gb in it?
Can I ask if you can also upgrade the ram of vivobook pro series with this technique? It's a really good budget laptop but soldered ram made it unreliable longterm
Impressive.
I’ll love to have someone here in Mexico that’ll perform that kind of jobs. Great content
Is it possible to solder more SSD chips on modern MacBook motherboards for bigger storage?
Hi, great video! When do you post the video with the upgrade for macbook pro 16 inch? I want to do the same upgrade. From 16 to 64. Can you tell me the name for the ram chip?
I dont recommend to upgrade to 64 as its pretty overkill and you might not need that much 32gb is already enough. But if you still want to do that make sure that your macbook supports that.
Good videos...hadir from Malaysia
I now appreciate my SIMM memory modules 10 times more...
Do you guys also do mother board repairing? I've legion Y520 , just last week I changed the thermal paste of my lappy and reassembled it and it just stopped booting up.
Hi, would it be possible to upgrade the RAM on a MacBook Pro Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015?
Great
Nice video. Is it possible to upgrade a Asus Zenbook um431da laptop like this? What chips should I buy?
Semma 👍
i need to get more ram and ssd storage on my m1 mac 2021 because i got the base model, should i try do this myself or should i try find proffesionals in my country to desoulder the ram and ssd and put on new and better ram and a 1tb ssd?
When Apple started to release Macbooks soldered in all directions, I always had a small hope that beyond Apple, people would manage to desolder and replace the material! A little (a lot) of sweat I guess but if it works, great !
i cant believe that he only charges $85 usd for this.. amazing work
Great video! Could you tell us where do you get the chips from and what chips are needed for the maximum of 64GB in the A2141 MacBook Pro? Sadly I could not find in the boardview what MC-64GB were used :-/ Thanks in advance!
Please answer :-/
Most RAM chips from old Dead or damaged motherboards from refurbished Mac's.
You can buy such ram chips at each hardware supplier. Like Mouser, Digikey, Farnell etc.
But with this question it sounds like you have no clue of that, so better don't do it if you don't want to break your laptop.
@@maxhouseman3129 well I shouldve asked about the exact chip names / modelnr. I am capable to perform the swap. No need to be rude because I dont know the exact names of those and where to get specific chips from :)
But yea, I should know every chipname and where to get them. Wtf dude.
Who!
Great Job!
Regards!!
Would you be able to upgrade the solder ddr4 in a spectre 16" to 128 or 256?
Thank for the video do you also have it for the m1 and m2 Mac book ?
do you think that console can do the same thing? on.PS3 and xbox360.because these two consoles only have a 512mb ram
SUPERB
It's like in the good old days where ram was upgraded 1 chip at a time, this time just much, MUCH harder
Can an apple iPad air be ungraded from a 16 GB to 32 GB's? And how much would the chip cost?
Hi, I want to incress my RAM to the max idk what could be?
it's a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2019) not bad at all but recently I'm having some issues I used to work and it's impossible to do my job with 16 GBs :(
I'm in Mexico, it's possible to send you my Mac?
Do you need to reflash spd tables?
Possible to transfer chips from high capacity ddr2 to ddr2 sodimm to make 4gb dimms?
