To be honest, to perform 32GB & 64GB upgrade for now is quite expensive and not worth for some people(unless you have production company etc). Contact us for latest pricing:

I have never owned a MacBook, and hopefully never will, but thank you for making this content for those that own one and need this, people like you make tech awesome.
That being said, it is a disgrace that videos like this exist, in this day and age, you're not allowed to easily upgrade your devices, especially at these price points, and you have to resort to risky, warranty voiding, low level processes, just to give your devices a few more years of life

any higher end laptops have the same limitations, and they aren't making it solely for the sake of profit, but rather engineers are trying to reduce breaking points, which don't exist on soldered parts. I don't really understand why only apple gets hate for this, as my workplace assigned laptop (lenovo x1 carbon) has the same parts soldered too.

I always wondered if it was possible to upgrade soldered ram on a laptop with a smd rework station, and this answers that. Sucks you need a few resistors to set the value, so I guess it isn't that easy to do. Thanks for your work on your channel, it's great stuff.

As amazing as it was to watch this process, I'm more interested in the price tag for such services. Being able to upgrade older hardware for it to continue to be useful rather than an old paper weight is great. Especially when the original manufacturer doesn't offer such things, which I'm sure many existing customers would appreciate and would ensure customer loyalty. hint hint. Of course, this isn't to say that this compares to getting your hands on the new top tier M1/M2 hardware, but the idea of discarding old hardware every other few years is absurd when it can have a 2nd or 3rd life cycle instead of ending in a land fill.

Great video! Could you tell us where do you get the chips from and what chips are needed for the maximum of 64GB in the A2141 MacBook Pro? Sadly I could not find in the boardview what MC-64GB were used :-/ Thanks in advance!

Most RAM chips from old Dead or damaged motherboards from refurbished Mac's.

You can buy such ram chips at each hardware supplier. Like Mouser, Digikey, Farnell etc.
But with this question it sounds like you have no clue of that, so better don't do it if you don't want to break your laptop.

@@maxhouseman3129 well I shouldve asked about the exact chip names / modelnr. I am capable to perform the swap. No need to be rude because I dont know the exact names of those and where to get specific chips from :)
But yea, I should know every chipname and where to get them. Wtf dude.
