I just did this and I got a blue screen and the computer kept shutting down to reboot. I took it out and reinstalled it 2 x and the same. Its a pnk 2400 that is recommended same as yours. I did recently have to update my bios not sure what to do. I removed it so I can use my computer for work. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Bearded tech

great video, really helpful. just couple of questions: on scale 1 to 10, how frustrated were you when you realized you forgot to plugin the power before closing the cover? and how much time did it take you to figure that out? ;)

Haha you know I actually tried turning it on before I put in all the screws.
And that's where I noticed my mistake lol.
Wasn't too bad could have been worse.
      Thanks for watching!

Hello friend, I'm slowly diagnosing my lenovo yoga 730,15", that shut off and wont come back on. So far I removed the battery, tried a new one. Replaced the charger and nothing. Next will try the ram. However so much info to get the correct one, since i have no idea what I am doing. I can not find link of the one you used here. Could you please share that. Thank you very much. Your videos are done very well and easy to follow, thank you very much, stay safe

Hello, I am from India and was thinking to upgrade the RAM of my Yoga 730-15IKB same model as yours and there are so many videos out there just showing the removal of screws from back and pooof ram gets installed, but your video is the absolute tutorial of DiY. Many thanks for this video, made my life easier, i have a doubt, in the RAM Slot why cant we see the already existing RAM, because it says 1 slot used out of 2, is the original 8 GB RAM Soldered to the Motherboard?? or installed seperately as a RAM Module? Once again thanks a lot for uploading this video

I appreciate it! And I'm glad the information on this video is of good use.
Regarding the RAM, yes the 8GB that's there is soldered and not visible. The RAM slot you see is the only expansion for RAM which is rated to accept another 8GB for a total of 16GB.
This is a relatively easy upgrade, hope all goes well!

@@beardedonetech thanks..one more doubt existing ram is at 2400 mhz and if i have any difficulty in getting a 2400 mhz will a 2666 mhz be compatible?

    • @beardedonetech
      @beardedonetech  3 года назад +2

@@ravishankark4453 It definitely is recommended that you get a 2400 one. But I have done some research and it seems that the laptop knows it's capabilities and it can downclock the RAM to match whatever is soldered onto the motherboard. So there should be no issue if you decide to go that route.

@@beardedonetech Hi, Finally upgraded my RAM today, i visited some shops in my city but could not find any 2400 Mhz DDR 4 RAM, only could find 2666 Mhz and some shops even said that 2666 will work fine, and they will charge 43 USD + 4 USD Servicing Charges if I bring Laptop to their shop for installation. Then found exact 2400 MHZ on Amazon and ordered it, just came in mail and took backup of important data of my laptop and opened and fixed it, the RAM slot had a plastic strip covering it, after you remove the ram cover box , had to remove that and then installed the ram and fitted it back i dont have much experience working with so minute components, so while fixing missed few clicks and then had to press it nicely to click the whole back cover, one screw was quite tough to fit back the torq screwdriver which i had seems it was not proper size still did the job, may be i can open it one more time when i think of upgrading my SSD as more than RAM i am short of storage space, i see many tutorials on cloning the SSD, so will try that maybe down the lane.

@@beardedonetech I just saw a video of someone, who had the same motherboard,
I think it was an ideapad... with 4GB RAM soldered on.
He added 16GB and ended up with 20GB total!
Which means that you (and I) could end up with a maximum of 24GB, right!???

Greetings, I need a Lenovo YOGA 730-15IKB CMOS Battery disabled if one exists, or disable the Administrator's Password? Almost all of the BIOS is corrupted but di have access to some.
I am not able to access any Advanced Mode Fix-it options, such as Cmd Prompt, due to a constant Password Block.
Uncertain if newer Lenovo Yogas use different Fix-it methods or if everything stays the same? HELP, I've exhausted all I know, thank you...
