    Beautiful and capable camera. Truly unique and refreshing in the avalanche of boring DSLRs coming from Nikon and Canon. That 5stop SR is worth its price alone; if Canon implemented such a thing - and they never will because they stopped innovating in 1984 - their DSLRs would cost an arm and leg and would be talked about everywhere as the 8th wonder of the world! But when Pentax makes such a wonder, at delivers at a such good price, it goes unnoticed.

      Boring from Nikon...Ha..Ha. This camera can't hold a candle to the Nikon D500. Pentax was a great camera during film days but now it is all gadgets.

      In many regards, all Nikon DSLRs are inferior to an average Pentax DSLR. D500 can boast of two things: speed rate and 3D tracking. In *everything* else it delivers way below Pentax standards. But the pixel-shift, 5axis SR with 5stops efficiency, more advanced ergonomics, advanced shooting programmes, customisable design through dials, compatibility with ALL lenses ever produced, etc ... when staring in a single tree you fail to see the forest.

    I really see this as below the K3 because of the dual card slots and 1/8000 shutter on the K3. I hope that they will build something that more directly replaces the K3 and market the KP more for its compact size. A great camera with the Limited primes.

    The most interesting features about this camera are the electronic shutter and the high iso, in my eyes - would have loved to see those tested.

    I would replace my K-5 with this but there is no top LCD. I really love top LCD, I can't live without it anymore.. :/ :D

    My K3 takes such amazing pictures that my workpace has adopted it. This is my replacement!

    As a long time Pentax shooter I can say its now rather getting pretty monotonous. The price of this camera is way too high for an enthusiast camera.

      Vie Pratique I doubt it will sell as much as K3 unless the price comes down. Especially with K3 ii still around.

      You just have to hang on for a bit..... I got mine last week with £150 off from Pentax and £150 off from the shop (sale). So it was £699.

    Lots of nice features,but I'm not buying a dslr with only one card slot.

    This probably isn't their new flagship APS-C. It looks like it sits between the K-3ii and K70. with some new, very nice features. But, I think that a true flagship APS-C will be along before too long.

      I agree with you, some specs just arent up there for it to be a new aps-c flagship

      @Y0d3 7 лет назад +1

      You are actually right. As it was reported (rumored) by a French site, Les Numeriques, this is a new camera and in 6 months a true flagship will come replacing the K3II.

      Looking forward to that....inherit the great low light image capabilities, 5-axis image stabilization and hopefully notably improved AF.C

      Looks like there really wasn't an "APS-C Flagship" coming along. I spoke to a Pentax rep last week and he seemed a little embarrassed by the question. The K70 and K-3 really are further down the ladder, though maybe a KP-ii might be useful - better battery, dual card slots and more.

    First 8 seconds is wrong - the KP is below the K-3ii, more a successor to the K-S2.
    This has been reported elsewhere, and is also indicated by the onboard flash and no GPS.
    K-3ii replacement is due later in the year.
    What''s needed in all these reviews is still missing - Does the Slimport connection work with external HDMI recorders?

    This is another KS level camera with retro look. Not K3 sucessor and definitely not between K3 and K1.

    it is not an aps-c flagship, k3 ii still remain (and k3 iii on the way this year later). next time shoot some moving objects, please :)

      Shame about that - Sigma seem to have filled the void there - Pentax may have better lenses for it, but not in my price range.

    Pentax's own press releases indicate the the opening speil in this video is incorrect.
    A closer match, is that the KP builds on the K-S2.
    The K-3ii replacement is rumoured to be in the pipeline for later in 2017.

      GUESS WHAT? IT IS NOW LATE 2018!! NO DEFINITIVE NEWS ON A K3ii REPLACEMENT YET!!!!!!!

  • @takuan650

    Would I 'upgrade' my over 3 year old K3 to this lame KP? Probably not! I find it hard to believe that the KP is now Pentax's APSC flagship camera. Smaller buffer, one card slot, smaller display with less resolution, weak on board flash, still lousy AF and lower frame rate makes me wonder if I should stay with Pentax. They won't coax me into full frame systems like Nikon tries. I Like Pentax cameras and their ltd. primes but they seem to be unable to improve the AF performance on their cameras. These ridiculous ISO numbers are just marketing fluff and don't add any photographic value for serious shooters.

      No cable release, no IR remote, lowend 1/6000 shutter mechanism from KS line, combined controls like AE/AEL button... This is just like KS-3 named KP to match anniversary models produced every 10 years.. remember that K10D with different top plate?

    • @warrenmerrill532
      @warrenmerrill532 7 лет назад +1

      FWIW it does have a cable release. And no it is not meant as Pentax APS-C flagship. Wait a few weeks to hear about that one. But as some have more properly guessed it's more a KS2 replacement with some very nice improvements.
