That tilt screen is the only reason I'm thinking of getting a k1ii because I love my k3ii but the lack of a tilitng screen makes me get in the funny looking posititions to get good low level shots of plants and insects.
Hey, great comparison. I know it's an old video and I'm not sure if you've found it yet. But the K-3 does have a headphone jack hidden away just under the "K-3" logo. Also, isn't the white noise the SR (sensor stabilization) activated during video?
As a landscape/architectural photographer, I was ready to buy a K-3ii, but perhaps I should save my pennies for the K-1. It's a tough call, the new camera is a great bargain, but the K3ii is still half the price, has the pixel-shift feature, plus I get access to the range of beautiful Pentax aps-c primes.
The K-3 II is a great camera, but the pixel shift is much better on the K-1 as you won't see nearly as much artifacting if you have moving subjects like trees in the wind. That, and a lot of the newer Pentax primes are actually FF. :) But the price difference is significant. I personally wanted the low-light performance and wider-viewing angles.
Thanks for this useful video. The white noise is due to the sensor stabiliser in the K-3, they managed to remove it in the K-1 (not sure how). Wrt to LV button and video buttons, I agree with you. As for the AF on the trigger button, I personally only use the mode with AF button only (even on my K-3), so that I can focus on the subject I want, so I don't have the issue
+zeebazu Happened more than I'd like due to the angle I had to film, but I'd be more worried for the table than the cameras :) IKEA table is no match for Ricoh manufacturing.
I note that SR was on in the K3 and off in the K1, the SR creates noise whilst it continuously adjusts the position of the sensor. If the camera makes excessive noise with SR off then there's likely some fault with the SR system as in steady state the SR motors shouldn't be fed a modulated signal only constant DC to hold the sensor in one position.
Thank you for comparison. I was planning on getting the K3 Quick Pro Guide to familiarize myself with the other futures, since I am migrating from the A 6000 If you don't mind one question, how are your old lenses working on the new K-1? Can you spare me the trouble of getting the K3 Guide by recommending another online guide. Thanks in advance.
+Rick Mentore There aren't many for the K-3. Try this video: ruclips.net/video/y_BC8iGvB8Q/видео.html. It covers the K-S2, but a lot of the same things apply. You can also try pentaxforums.com
+pabl0hassan I more general term for a constant noise, similar to the sound a fan would make or a tv when not tuned to a station. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:White-noise-sound-20sec-mono-44100Hz.ogg
+pabl0hassan An audible noise coming from the camera itself when in live-view mode. Haven't tested the video or noise quality between the two yet, but hope to soon.
Just use the damn thing. I have the K-5 and find that the most important thing is to use your eyes to see the shot. You learn a new button layout pretty quickly so as not to be an issue.
Hi how you doing, I've got a question that I always have an issue finding for any camera. On my K-3 and K-3 ii after taking photos especially of doing even a family portrait shoot, if I take to three shots there is a significant delay from when I press play to when I can see the photo. Does the K-1 exhibit the same delay? Thank you very much literally might seem funny but it's probably The turning point of whether or not I'll pick me up the K-1.. lol
+Ken Walizer I guess it depends on your definition of a significant delay. Your memory card speed can affect this a lot and how many pictures you take in a short time. Overall the buffer fills faster, but when it's not full there isn't any noticable delay.
Well it sounds like it's definitely better. I guess one thing that's not clear on my memory is maybe because I was shooting raw on one card and an Eyefi card in the other slot it might've been causing the JPEG's to render slowly but my raw hard was a 95 MB a second thank you so much for the reply I really appreciate it
Yeah, it might be your Eye-fi. Your buffer should be more in the dozen+ shots range. Try with just the main card to see if that fixes it. K-1 shows the picture pretty instantly. Maybe 1/3 sec.
+FAMUCHOLLY Yes and no. While I did say I still prefer the new K-1 to the K-3 since I got used to the changes over the course of a week, I think some of the changes are for the worse. None are deal breakers by any means, but in many ways the layout is more efficient on the K-3. Happens when you add features and you can't really increase the camera size much :)
I have read about the slow image buffering of the K 1 when shooting RAW, the fps dastically drops. Is this true? If so continuous portrait shooting could be a problem really If I have to wait 1 or 2 second for the camera to resume
The buffer is pretty small, though the burst mode itself isn't very fast. For still portraits it's fine, but looking to capture movement you may miss your ideal frame.
do you think this body can handle the seconds-short "pose-shot" type of shooting for portraits? Also I think you canno select which AF point to use, so can you still focus-lock on your subject and then re-compose the image? @@LohTec
@@marzio1090 The three weaknesses of the K-1 pictures was focus speed, buffer amount (as small as 13 pictures), FPS in burst mode (4.4fps). If you were shooting a moving target it's possible you'd get 13 out of focus frames in 3 seconds and then the camera would slow. But if your target was stationary it worked fine and the picture quality is awesome. Aperture AND Shutter priority mode is great, something I wish my new Sony had. You can lock the focus and pick the focus points, though most of them are still pretty centered in the frame so if you want something really to one side you'll have to lock and recompose.
thak you so much. I am a canon owner (7D m ii, although I dont use it for the purpose it was build, I do mainly landscape and portraits) and I am thinking to switch but I am not entirely sure still. @@LohTec
Thanks for the video. My only thing holding me back to purchase this is the lack of half-press to focus, but I guess I can get used to the back focus 'AF' button. I like that they moved the play button to the right, so easy one-hand/thumb access to the chimp :) Yeah, I'm with you on the live-view - wish they had kept it the same as the K-3. But overall, I think it's a stellar camera!
I'm fairly certain this is on purpose - I believe it is so that the camera is less prone to shake when someone jabs down on the shutter button, with the K-1 is is softer and smoother. Other brands do this as well. Correct me if i'm wrong.

I don't have it anymore, but the k-3 had a mini headphone jack if I recall and SR didn't work in video, at least back then. SR was for pictures
@@LohTec which Pentax do you use now?
Fujifilm x-t4. Needed something better for video so I switched a while back.

The K-1 has a better focusing system too. The K-3ii has no group area focus, which is to me very problematic.
Tachyon Particle I'm a landscape photographer, so I don't care about autofocusing, or frame rate or high ISO.

K3 has wireless flash setting but appears K1 doesn’t ?
I have 2 k3's and one makes the white noise and the other one doesn't. I guess the newer k3 dslr are built differently from the order models.
