2 major things missing from the Forums that i see i mentioned prior in another video you made about Forum shortcode but Buddyboss seemed to be remove the post. In any case I am sure i am not the ONLY customer that would want their Members/Users to create their own forums outside of being in a group just like a normal message forum/board. The 2nd feature i thing is very important is having a preview of text or excerpt of a link posted in a forum no where i see in the settings to do this. So, i have suggested a few things like many and all I get in a response is "Fill out a ticket or sorry we can`t do that get outside help" I mean really guys what i requested above would be nothing for "Pros" like you all to do Thank you and still love the product

Not sure I did this right... but here's my problem. For each courses I have : - On group attach to it - On forum attach to the group So for each courses, I have Course < Group < Forum. Now, what I want to do is to show ONLY the correct associate forum (in /forums/) when a customer is enroll for the correct course. But as there's private/hidden options for both forums and groups I'm so confuse. Theoricaly I should put everything to hidden so only the customer who enroll the course can see the correct group and forum... but apparently it's not working that way ? What I'm missing ?
If you connect a course to a group, then when a user enrolls in that course they will be added into the group. If you make that group hidden then the rest will follow. The forum will be hidden within the group automatically. When the user enrolls in the course they will get added into the group and see everything.
@@BuddybossWP indeed, they can see hidden forum associates to a hidden group (by hidden group > forums), but in the /forums/ page, nothing appears because, I suppose, that's some topics from an hidden forums (which they're enrolled into). That behavior is the correct behavior ? Private and public topics shows correctly but not the hidden one where they're enrolled ?

I'm wondering why there isn't a "traditional" forum layout style vs the boxes? I like the box layout for some sites, but I have other sites that prefer a more traditional forum style with categories and forums in a list style layout. Is this something that can be added in future versions?
Why dont i see any way for there to be discussions within a course? Either a simple Q and A or Forum so that people who enroll on the course can have a discussion without leaving the course. Did i miss something as this is a standard feature of most LMSs.?
Forums are connected to groups only, and each group can have multiple courses, and each course can be in multiple groups. So if we connect a forum to a course the conversation will be mixed between students from different groups, which would be very messy. So you go back to the group you are taking the course in and use the forums there. We are aware people want more interaction directly in the courses and it's something we will add down the line.
@@Knittingtoday If you set up one group, with one forum, and one course, then you will have the course and its forum and members all in the same area. That is the best solution right now if you want this type of experience.

Hello, 2 questions. 1. Would it be possible to organise the 'group' so that when a user clicks into a 'group' they see the discussion instead of 'members' as the first page? 2. Is it possible to have a group and forum public to non-registered users but encourage a user to sign up in order to see the discussion?
1. This is not possible within the options, because its possible to create a group without a forum attached, so if we allow Discussions to be the group homepage then some groups will have 404 errors if they don't have a forum attached. 2. When you create a group you can set it as public. This will make its content visible to anyone including logged out users. The discussion will be public automatically as well.
I have the settings at 15 forums per page, and it only shows the first 15 subforums, but no navigation to continue to a second page or an infinite scroll. Am I missing something or is the only option to set the number of forums per page to a very high number to make sure they're all visible?
It should provide navigation to paginate to the next page. If you are still seeing this issue after updating to the latest versions of everything, please submit a support ticket so they can look at your site. If they determine that there is a real bug afterwards, they can log that and we can provide a patch in a future release. Thanks!
Not yet. We are working on a documents/file attachment system that will work everywhere in the network, including forum replies. We're making good progress on that.

Site admins can moderate any forum. If a forum is tied to a group, then the roles in the group get their access applied to its forum. So the group organizer is the admin role in that group's forum, and the group moderator is a moderator in that group's forum.
You can change the root slug name, it is coming from whatever page is set as your forums index. So for example on my localhost it is forums/forum/. But no, it really can't be simplified beyond that without some major changes. It uses the forums index as the root slug, and then /forum/ to signify it is a forum. Keep in mind that we merged bbPress into BuddyBoss Platform to become our forums component, and so we have to maintain the basic URL structure from bbPress otherwise we will destroy people's SEO all over the place, for the many people who switched from bbPress to BuddyBoss. We can continue to improve the features but we still need to be mindful of people switching over.
Is there a way to have standalone discussions separate from the "forum group" In the demo (and I tried it on my theme) shows the 3 forum groups in the top and below there discussions. Which actually are the same discussions from the forums above, I would like for example to have like the group forum rules and other topics that way so it can look more organized and flexible

When viewing a forum topic, you can click the icon to make it Sticky. It looks like a pin in the upper right, on the topic page, when using our theme. If the topic is set as Sticky it will be pinned to the top.
@@BuddybossWP Thanks! I just realized that the overview with all of the topics is setup in alphabetical order. You can stick those to the top, but you can stick discussion within those topics to the top, if I understand correctly.
@@kayaquintana When you are viewing a list of topics within a forum, it will order them by most recently active at the top. If you set one as Sticky it will go to the top of the list always. If you set one as "Super Sticky" it will go even above the other Sticky ones.

i used to be able to restrict the creation of dicussions to admin only, but recently i saw a participant role and list in the user page of admin and apparently they can laucnh new discussion, is there something i am missing ?
Where did you previously get the option to restrict discussions to admin only? We do not have any participant role in our system. bbPress did have a participant role, so if you had used bbPress previously you might be seeing that in your website admin. When disabling a plugin, the roles it previously created in WordPress remain, even if they are not doing anything. On a fresh install of our software you will not see any Participant role anywhere.
That depends a lot on your server setup and the other plugins you have running at the same time. We have several active customers with 80-100,000 users whose sites are running fine. You need to invest in a good server setup to handle this.
I think it would depend on your hosting. If you have shared wordpress hosting (which most users will have at first), then your site will begin to slow down. When this happens you should upgrade to dedicated or cloud hosting to make sure that your site continues to run smoothly with greater numbers of members.

Generally it’s used for when admins or moderators need a place to converse privately, however you could override this with a membership/permissions plugin, such as Members by MemberPress, or User Role Editor - both are on the WordPress Repository.

I think there is a big lack in your platform and it is lack of multi profile types. for an LMS site it is necessity for teachers to have some other roles like consultant or advisor! There is also a very bad plugin for that "BuddyPress Member Types Pro" that is very bad for installing on buddyboss.

@@BuddybossWP I'm master in all tutorials of BuddyBoss, the issue i mentioned was "multi profile types" for one person! It means a solution to add multiple profile types for 1 single user, not one profile type for 1 user. When people start using LMS plugins like LearnDash, they need this feature.

Then you can have a Group Leader role from LearnDash, and other roles as well. You are seeing that notice that you are allowed to post because you are a site admin. If you switch to a regular user they will not be able to respond to a closed discussion. Site admins can close/open discussions. Also group organizers, if the forum is within their group.

@@joblux You are seeing it as you are an admin; the notice lets you know why you are able to still update it. This is inherited from bbPress itself which has always worked this way, we can consider changing it if people find it confusing. So far that logic is just the same as it was in bbPress before we merged bbPress into Platform.
@@joblux When you close the discussion it is no longer open to replies, that's the purpose. The site admin can still update it but regular users cannot reply anymore.

there is problem, whenever i comments in a post in updates section, that comment is not visible under the original post in the forums section
This is intended behavior. A comment on an activity post is not the same as a reply to the forum.

Site admins can moderate any forum. If a forum is tied to a group, then the roles in the group get their access applied to its forum. So the group organizer is the admin role in that group's forum, and the group moderator is a moderator in that group's forum.
Isn't it a bit duplicative to have forum/forum/theme? Is there a way to simplify this?
You can change the root slug name, it is coming from whatever page is set as your forums index. So for example on my localhost it is forums/forum/. But no, it really can't be simplified beyond that without some major changes. It uses the forums index as the root slug, and then /forum/ to signify it is a forum. Keep in mind that we merged bbPress into BuddyBoss Platform to become our forums component, and so we have to maintain the basic URL structure from bbPress otherwise we will destroy people's SEO all over the place, for the many people who switched from bbPress to BuddyBoss. We can continue to improve the features but we still need to be mindful of people switching over.
Is there a way to have standalone discussions separate from the "forum group"
In the demo (and I tried it on my theme) shows the 3 forum groups in the top and below there discussions.

I would like for example to have like the group forum rules and other topics that way so it can look more organized and flexible

If the forum is set up as a standalone forum, then you can post new topics into it without belonging to any group.

How can you pin a forum topic to the top? I would like to keep the Start Here topic on top for new users.
When viewing a forum topic, you can click the icon to make it Sticky. It looks like a pin in the upper right, on the topic page, when using our theme. If the topic is set as Sticky it will be pinned to the top.
@@BuddybossWP Thanks! I just realized that the overview with all of the topics is setup in alphabetical order. You can stick those to the top, but you can stick discussion within those topics to the top, if I understand correctly.
@@kayaquintana When you are viewing a list of topics within a forum, it will order them by most recently active at the top. If you set one as Sticky it will go to the top of the list always. If you set one as "Super Sticky" it will go even above the other Sticky ones.

i used to be able to restrict the creation of dicussions to admin only, but recently i saw a participant role and list in the user page of admin and apparently they can laucnh new discussion, is there something i am missing ?
Where did you previously get the option to restrict discussions to admin only? We do not have any participant role in our system. bbPress did have a participant role, so if you had used bbPress previously you might be seeing that in your website admin. When disabling a plugin, the roles it previously created in WordPress remain, even if they are not doing anything. On a fresh install of our software you will not see any Participant role anywhere.

That depends a lot on your server setup and the other plugins you have running at the same time. We have several active customers with 80-100,000 users whose sites are running fine. You need to invest in a good server setup to handle this.
I think it would depend on your hosting. If you have shared wordpress hosting (which most users will have at first), then your site will begin to slow down. When this happens you should upgrade to dedicated or cloud hosting to make sure that your site continues to run smoothly with greater numbers of members.

Hello, The Hidden Forum is a functionality rolled over from the integration of BBPress. Generally it’s used for when admins or moderators need a place to converse privately, however you could override this with a membership/permissions plugin, such as Members by MemberPress, or User Role Editor - both are on the WordPress Repository.

what is forum attribute: category? instead of forum
A ‘Forum’ contains topics and be the parent of other forums., whereas a ‘Category’ can only contain forums (no topics). Use for organizing your forums.

I think there is a big lack in your platform and it is lack of multi profile types. for an LMS site it is necessity for teachers to have some other roles like consultant or advisor! There is also a very bad plugin for that "BuddyPress Member Types Pro" that is very bad for installing on buddyboss.
In the BuddyBoss Platform, you will be able to segregate users by profile type. No need to install a third-party plugin.

@@BuddybossWP I'm master in all tutorials of BuddyBoss, the issue i mentioned was "multi profile types" for one person! It means a solution to add multiple profile types for 1 single user, not one profile type for 1 user. When people start using LMS plugins like LearnDash, they need this feature.

Then you can have a Group Leader role from LearnDash, and other roles as well. You are seeing that notice that you are allowed to post because you are a site admin. If you switch to a regular user they will not be able to respond to a closed discussion. Site admins can close/open discussions. Also group organizers, if the forum is within their group.

@@joblux You are seeing it as you are an admin; the notice lets you know why you are able to still update it. This is inherited from bbPress itself which has always worked this way, we can consider changing it if people find it confusing. So far that logic is just the same as it was in bbPress before we merged bbPress into Platform.

@@joblux When you close the discussion it is no longer open to replies, that's the purpose. The site admin can still update it but regular users cannot reply anymore.
How do users leave a group?
There is a button that says "You're a Member". If you click the button it will ask if you want to leave the group.
Can users create a forum from the front end?
