You have no idea how much I appreciate this easy to follow instructions to keep me focused on the stuff that really matters to grow my brand new business
So glad it was helpful!
The quality of information and production of this video is so great. Thank you Wes for being awesome!
I appreciate that!
This video is excellent, went straight online and made loads of changes to my website and Google business profile. Thank you.
Glad this was helpful!
Love the local SEO advice, especially for Google Business Profile. Following these tips will skyrocket visibility and bring in more customers. Thanks!
Great to hear!
I’ve been trying to figure out what your perfect website packages looked like for $10k. Your channel is the best resource for entrepreneurs like myself! You’ve helped raise the bar, thank you. I want to eventually get to where you are now, but for now would love to have website packages like you once had. Where people could just buy it for a set price. Just need to figure out the best way of doing that.
Super info! Curious.. do these steps benefit a website that sells products by linking to various Print on Demand sites?
I'll add some more from my own experience.
Keywords in business name - Wes correctly mentioned that it is against Google guidelines to use those. Yes, and if your competitor is doing this, you can do something about that. Just edit their listing, Google will usually accept your change. Worked 8/10 times.
Are you not appearing in Google Maps, due to the competiton sharing the same address? According to Google guidelines you can differentiate your address by adding a door number or a floor (in case of a multi-level building) in to the address field. It truly does help.
Thx for those additions!
Great insight. What if the legal business name truly has the keywords. Will google still generally approve the change?
@crypwalk7753 don't fraudulently change their listing. Only remove what they're doing to keyword stuff. You can't change Google to Poodle if you want to rank for Google lol
@@plpau_ Geez man, lol. I was looking at it in terms of our newly filed company. The company has keywords in the legal name, although the words literally describe what we do.
You explain it very well!
The only things better than the info in this video, are the Fiddle Leafs in the background. Bravo!👏
Ha thanks! They're slowly taking over...
Subscribed & thanks so much for this video! Super insightful!
I did have a question if you don't mind me asking - We are a photo booth company that's a service-based business (without a physical location). We are unable to choose "Photo Booth" as a primary GBP category because it requires a physical location, so we chose "Party Equipment Rental Service" instead. Any thoughts on how we can get "Photo Booth" as a primary without a getting a physical location? Thank you so much!
Thankyou so much Wes, i have learned so much from you!
I have a question, i know how to optimize a local service business's online presence
by all the rules you said and more also
But how to optimize a local product business like home decor store or a furniture store?
Is the ecommerce website only solution?
What if they don't want to sell online yet?
Hi Wes. Thanks for the Excellent video. I am in to event rental business and I am confused about physical location as we are in one location in Dubai and supply to the whole of the United Emirates. how can I target all locations
You can change your business name with a simple DBA and submitting that to Google. Don’t need to change everything. Also if you build citations with the DBA name; when the Google employee looking at the change request checks, they usually will just approve it based on other sites and the DBA which cost like $99.
Hi Wes, I am working on a small security business that is expanding into other cities with a small office in those cities. I wondered whether there should be a page for each location, all services are offered in each location but there may be differences in popularity of each service within each location? I wondered what happened to the "E tier".
Hey @WesMcDowellInc great video! Quick question about dedicated service pages for each service. If a multi-location service area business (SAB) has a dedicated landing page for each service area (IE LA, New York, Austin, etc...) does Google only crawl that landing page attached to the GBP's website link? Meaning each location (let's go with Austin) should have it's own dedicate Austin [service page] - something like /location/austin/austin-tire-repair or would Google crawl the generic service pages not attached to the GBP landing page like /services/tire-repair? Been something Im trying to figure out - can't get any solid data on it.
Either way, keep up the great work, videos are always informative and helpful!
Google would crawl it and undestand it from website perspective, but would not help the GBP ranking if is further from the zone. GBP attached to GBP should be consider only up to 20 mile radius even lower if high competition.
Great advice Wes. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video as always Wes! Question: Does naming image files in a certain way help with SEO? (not geo co-ords)
Hey Charlie, I think that's one of those "why not?" type of things to do. I don't think it counts for much, but its easy to do, so you might as well.
Make sure you have your alt tags on your images filled out on your website. It's for accessibility. Google does check your website for those. Search for Google Page Speed and have it scan for you. But I'm not sure how important it is 😅 If your page performance is low Google will put you to the side.
Thanks, really useful content!
I live in apartment but i have team web designers working remotely, when i try to verify my business profile it asks me for video, can i just send my home office? would it work?
SEO nerd here. Can confirm, this video is legit 💪 No disagreements on the rankings here.
Only thing I would add is for reviews. With clients, I always try to stress the recency of reviews, as well as the importance of a steady influx (rather than bursts).
Solid video, Wes 🙏
Good point, that's smart!
First, but honestly, great job! Keep the value going.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
This is GREAT info!! ❤
Glad it was helpful!
Great content!
It's beyond praise.
Thanks for the insight in this video. I’m a home based web designer and developer. Understanding how to show my local area without using my home address is a challenge. I know that I can hide the address on my GBP page. My legal business address is with a registered agent service several counties away, so that isn’t ideal to use. Any recommendations of how to address with the Google “? Business Profile?
Applying the strategies mentioned in the video can certainly help improve your local business's ranking on Google. Remember, it's all about consistency and quality.
It might sound confusing, but you can never truly outrank local businesses on Google, and they can’t always outrank you either. Here’s why: Google promotes local businesses based on proximity. Even if your Google My Business profile isn’t the best, if a customer is just 100 meters away from you, Google will likely promote your business, maybe not first, but possibly second.
For instance, if Marta is only 100 meters away from me, I might appear in the first place in her search results. However, if Roger is 2 kilometers away at the same time, I could appear much lower, maybe around the 6th or 7th place, or possibly even lower.
It's a pleasure to watch.
Glad you found it helpful!
I think you really missed the beat on geo tag images.
What we've seen across all of our clients is that uploading cell phone (geo tagged) photos to the clients GBP has really moved rankings and pushed proximity.
Thank you for this man
Glad it was helpful!
@@WesMcDowellInc I myself is an SEO nerd and I have never organized it the way you did. Yours is very comprehensible and organized
I agree with most of what you said, but for some reason Facebook is a ranking factor.
I don't know why or how, but I saw it happen to a local business that was dropping lots of videos and activity on Facebook.
Maybe they just stirred up the ole branding trick?
Thanks for the video!)
You are welcome!
Excellent video! Thanks for sharing this information.
I love the Vestaboard 🙂
Thank you! Glad it was helpful!
Another module to start when I've finished your course..👍
Wes, do you still do service for redoing website? My new one done by a developer was left unfinished and quite a mess.
That's awful 😞
What is your business? I may be able to help you. If not, I won't pretend I can.
I'm so sorry to hear that. Unfortunately I'm no longer offering services, just focusing on YT and my courses. Hope you can find someone to fix it!
@@WesMcDowellInc OK, thanks.
I’m a photographer using a service area (no physical location), I appear at the top with appropriate key word search only if you search near my physical location, despite using service area with no address listed.
yeah, they stink with mobile service operators like you and me, still showing my home address too which I have repeatedly tried to get it to be hidden. I gave up
brother you deserve 42M views not 42k. Glad you made this video 😇😍
Thank you so much
Great vid as always, Wes!
Glad you enjoyed it!
That's just awesome.
Thank you!
Sir recently created a new Google business profile but is still under process & got an email from the Google business team waiting for 14 days 😢 Help sir
what an incredible video
Glad it was helpful!
You do an amazing job on your videos and your content. You have a sub membership? Something like if somebody pays $30 or $40 a month they get some extra details that you may not provide in your RUclips videos? Or maybe you answer five questions a month specific to killer needs and services?
Why am I getting 20 messages like this since yesterday? What are u guys selling?
@@WesMcDowellInc I've been watching your content for a while. I'm personally, not trying to sell anything. I just think you're doing a great job. I do local SEO on a small scale in Utah. I have a RUclips Channel that I work with clients on doing videos (frank_photiadis). I also watch the ranking Academy but I like the way you do videos better LOL. I can't speak with the others that you're getting messages from and I was just curious. No hidden agenda or anything I just thought it would be interesting product for you to offer and for us to consume. A partner annihilated my business a while back and now I'm in rebuild mode trying to keep up with all of the changes with AI and local SEO.
Ah, thanks man! Sorry for the accusatory tone, I've just been getting IG messages trying to sell me on Skool for memberships. Always complimenting my content first, then sliding it in there. But to answer your question, no, I don't have anything like that at this time, just a course with another on the way! But thanks for watching!
this video itself is a goldmine if you sell it as a service
Thank you and happy it is helpful!
great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Dude, I've done all of these steps, plus more. But it seems that there is a local competitor near me, who :
1) Doesn't have their GMB profile even complete.
2) Doesn't have the city mentioned anywhere in their GMB profile
3) Has a 3 page website, mentioning the city once
4) Has less reviews than my business (with the last review being over 2 years ago)
yet, they are still not only outranking me, but also majority of the local competition here. I genuinely am lost at this point.
Sometimes less is more
@giedrius2149 that seems to be the case. I genuinely don't get it. Even on there website, they don't have meta titles, descriptions, or even H1 and H2 headers lol
I put them in bright local just to confirm, and they're ranked #1 everywhere
Keep in mind, this business has been around for the longest, out of all of the local business in this category
@@TheRealRyanMickens I am new to the game, but apparently google is changing SEO a lot right now. My business which has 0 SEO work right now (not even and indexing), barebone website is ranking 8 in locksmiths. But the competition is quite spammy in terms of keywords though
The older business will always outrank the newer ones ... Google just thinks they are more trustworthy
I have tons of local SEO taxi clients (the most competitive local SEO niche) and this happens all the time.
Check their branded search volume, its 99% of the time the thing you can't change. They are just more known and authoritative.
(Well, you could, if you wanted to spend hundreds of $ on qualitative CTR manipulation and microworkers)
Seo or Ads?
Lovely
Thank you!
I did everything short of a legal name change and google bot always changes my company name back to the version without keywords.
If your legal name isnt the same the competition usually changes it do you don't have a advantage unless those keywords are legally part of your name
To be fair he does say you gotta have it in the legal business name. I guess that’s your only option next.
Or it could be your competitors SEO guy. Part of my service for my clients is going around editing names that are against terms of service.
🙏🏾
Thank you!
If anyone want to Implement this same strategy with monthly SEO please let me know.
Why?
