I think this video is a great example of why some of the greatest metal that has been produced is actually at its best in standard E tuning. Alot of people, and particularly new metal bands, seem to think that the only way to produce 'heavy' music is just by downtuning their guitars. It's more about creating awesome riffs, and finding the right tuning for those riffs. That's what Metallica perfected.
@rfsimoii James voice is different now because he had to re-train his voice after blowing his vocal chords during 'So What' in a live show in 93. I think it's physically impossible for him to have his unreal 80's voice again. He's still unreal no matter what.
@metaltera86 That's what people complain about is that it is too low,even James has admitted that the mixing on Justice was bad,like he said you can tell that him and Kirk did allot of the mixing on it.
This was interesting. I have always wished that Lars and James could have gotten over the loss of Cliff by letting Jason's bass be heard in this album. Most songs on this album had the bass subdued. To be fair, no one could out right replace Cliff. But then again, most people originally said the same about Dave Mustaine when he left the band.
@ProtossHydralisk I guess. It's the lyrics job to tell a story, and if you get the point, they're good lyrics. And Gorefest were one of the early death metal bands, so it's not THAT unoriginal..
@Maharv55 I'd like to partially cry bullshit to that. Sure, maybe that's the case with nu metal bands and shitty core groups, but plenty of death metal bands have made great riffs downtuned, that are very heavy. Master is a great example of this. That said, standard tuning is best with thrash, I think. C tuning is probably my favorite for death, though D and E falt work great too.
@Aremine youre looking at it the wrong way. the people posting these altered songs are just looking for a different experience in their favorite songs from their favorite band. As awesome as Metallica is, it doesn't hurt to hear things a different way. And many people have different ears. Embrace the different sound if you like it, leave it alone if you don't. I doubt anyone would ever replace the orginial Blackened with this, or any other version, at heart.
Sounds great!!
James turned into Barry White.
Lol...if james was 9 feet tall...and if metallica would've turned Jason's damn bass up
That was Lars' fault, he asked for the bass to be turned down.
+Awesomeness Gaming James accepted this change
You kind sir, deserve a medal
Faith No More shirt - respect James !
this kicks ass
WoW ! THE INTRO is BEAST!
I like it
I would say this is only 23% heavier max at it's heaviest point. Please stop using misleading video titles.
you turned metallica into korn haha
Sounds almost better than the original, well done!! Audacity is such a powerful tool!
The snare sounds like a sheet of paper with rice on it
WIN!
Oh, I hear the bass!!

now it just sounds like death metal with drop tuning instead of metal mastery.
I would of actually had said more distorted, but I supposed the lower addition of sound quality dose make more technical sense....
lord Vader, i didn't know you were a Metallica fan!
HAHAHA I fuckin lol'd when the vocals started
OMG!! BASS CAN BE HEARD ON ONE OF THE JUSTICE SONGS!!! IT'S A MIRACLE!!! hehe PS.. what's up with James voice? haha
Imagine if Pete Steele covered this...

@ericmarshall19 the lower the note is the heavier it is ! so this version is tuned much lower !
sounds like sauron is playing a cover of blackened
@ProtossHydralisk
And besides that, the music and the vocals are kick ass in that song ("Gorefest")
my turtle beaches are gonna burst
@ericmarshall19 with a scale??!?!?!
It's in C#, a minor third down from the original.
this was so heavy that my speakers made popping noises or that was the audio of the video :P
epic demonic voice
devil cover of blackened?
fucking nice!!!
Thanks! I have a bunch of them xD
a scale of headbang :DD
SLAYER COVER
one of the best things about metallica is that their best and heaviest stuff was in standard tuning.
@jimmyshitbags Yeah I noticed that too. Here they look ready to play some real metal and kick ass.
@AbnormalImagery I agree 100%
@metaltera86 That's what people complain about is that it is too low,even James has admitted that the mixing on Justice was bad,like he said you can tell that him and Kirk did allot of the mixing on it.
@ericmarshall19
Heaviness in metal is measured in KK/s (Kerry King/second)
why does the snare sound like sandpaper
I stand corrected.
they really turned it up to 11 here
@jabbaxhago Thanks, bud.
@SuperElectricPower He's gonna poke someone's eye out!
Apparently, their new album will be a heavier Black Album.
@Buhach96 I always wondered what Metallica would sound like if they took the bass levels off of zero
@thisryanthe huge metallica fan i even make fun of that "ah" after everything tonightah, alrightah, yeahheya
NneeeeevvvvvvoooooooouuuuAAAAAH
@metallipwn Easy, man... or girl, idk. was just trying to have a little fun.
@MitsuMetal I Used a program called Audacity.
If the devil in Legend was the vocalist every album would be this heavy
zakk wylde on vocals. how good
1:14 .. mannn !! now i need to change the my pants !
@bigbear159 i think he means in this remix version.
listen to jason's bass playing on for whom the bell tolls. he improved on cliff's by adding wah
This photo is my Laptops lock screen background.
@trevortes Blackened is the eendah!
So... James is actually Darth Vader?
how do you get 25%?
Sarcasm...
Jason: huh, James. Lars.. can I..?
James & Lars: NO!!
Jason: Okay :C
@666CANNIBALCHRIS666 or Doom and Sludge..
James Hetfield: I ah think ah that ah saying ah Ah ah after ah every ah word ah is ah lame aaaaaaahaahahahahah
wish all of'em still had the same hair lol
@gonads666 look at the picture, only guys who wear leather vests are allowed to be heard xD
@neppyskates01
BTBAMs version is. I cant listen to metallicas anymore =(
They play it in C or C# cant remember.

WARNING: HIGH DISTORTION, MAY DAMAGE SPEAKERS !!!
what is this..korn?
It's the Devil OMG!
notice how jason is further away than the other members and he's the only one with a denim jacket... yeah that's kinda why the bass wasn't present
Heaviness is measured in Sabbaths.
looks like james shirt says ''eat no more'' it's FAITH NO MORE, but i like this better
Imagine if The Faceless covered this
Chug palm muting. \m/
@jabbaxhago It's awesome cause it's free.
@ProtossHydralisk
I guess. It's the lyrics job to tell a story, and if you get the point, they're good lyrics.

IF James voice was the real one it would be perfect
@Maharv55

rofl
bitchies is just in another tune
as far as the bass james and lars editid out most of the bass jason played anyways so the whole album you cant hear the bass very well
I dont know why people cant hear the bass in the justice album. Its just barely audible but its there
this is how it would sound if korn covered this. seriously a whole step down. like on one.
Just listen to Between the Buried and Me's cover of Blackened if you want heavier.
It's sounds like st.anger
Sounds like a demo version, but heavy as fuck!
lol.
Nice photo.
All have black pants.
All have hands in pockets.
All are in
METALLICA!!!!
Wow, almost sounds like Type O Negative covering Blackened...
LMAO
James and Satan = Same Person
It was already heavy as fuck. We don't need the guitars downtuned to Korn levels and James sounding like cookie monster.
LOL
@OurNameLivesOn eeeh... no?
Bass is not enhanced, it's just drowning the guitars.
Sounds kinda like rob zombie.
pretty badass dude, except for the quality
