This actually surprised me just now. I was searching for custom firmwares on other emulation handhelds then I saw the Ark-4 github. This piqued me so much into searching more and it's such a fresh start again for my PSP

I just updated my 1000 PSP from 5.50 Gen-D3 to 6.60 ME 2.3 but after the update most-to-all of my games almost all the time won't run (error 80020148) or freeze and crash, I've tried different ISO modes but the results were the same... what do you think? I did a lot of research beforehand and I know PRO is supposedly more stable but I specifically choose ME over PRO due to the more advanced vhs menu and I really like it, it gives a lot of good options update: ok so the problem is definitely because of UMD ISO Mode, after the update some of my games only run on ME driver, some only on M33, some on both but on multiple attempts (up to 6 tries! its a bit annoying but honestly I don't mind it much); Inferno & OE isofs can't run ANY of my games, Sony NP9660 can run some of them on top of all of this after the update PSP recognises some of my *before-update* backed up save files as corrupted (ironically its the two games I played most and bust my butt in the process of their progress, GTA Vice City Stories & Ace Combat Skies of Deception)

Thank you for the video but I tried it and didn't like it. When I went to the recovery menu I got stuck in there and I would hit the exit button and couldn't get out. I've even tried restarting the PSP and it would go back to the same menu. one of those times the screen got blacked and the PSP just shut it down. For a moment I thought I bricked it. Finally, I took out the memory and restarted the PSP and I was able to go back to the normal home screen but without the memory card, you can't access the new settings or the VSH menu so I don't see the point of this CFW if it's attached to a memory card all the time. I went and installed back the permanent CFW PRO-C infinity. It may not have a nice menu but it doesn't have bugs and it works fine even if you switch memory cards. Thanks for the video anyways. I'm glad people are still working on PSP stuff.
I was watching Acid_Snake present Ark-4 features during the PSP Homebrew Developers Conference 2024. During his presentation he demonstrated an ARK-4 Updater which appears in the settings of the XMB menu. It was just above USB Connection in the menu. My install does not have this option. Any idea why?
For me each time i launch Infinity while on ARK4 it just shuts down any fix for this??? it works fine on PRO-C i even uninstalled everything and did ARK first but nothing, might just be an issue with the CFW itself.

Hey there! I'm in the same situation, and heard that there is a new build of ARK that would allow you to play any region UMD. Came out in February. I'm not sure if this version includes that feature or not.
Hey guys, so the new ark4 does provide that fix! You can change regions on the fly! I have a new video regarding the new ark 4 build and ho to easily install it!
@@Tightlines010 When you open the custom launcher, hit triangle to bring up the menu. You can then navigate to 'files' to browse the files on your memory card, and select and install your plugins. Hope this helps!
Hi there! I've added everything over to my PSP like instructed, when I booted up the ark loader on my PSP it worked, but no other options appeared afterwards, I could not install the pro update or anything. What am I doing wrong here? All I see is the ark loader, am I missing any other downloads or software? I've checked so many other videos you've made and I'm getting nowhere. Thanks!
I'm not sure if you've seen my comment, but when i boot up a game on flycast vita, I get error code c2-12828-1 saved core file succeeded, i've been trying for a week with no luck, if you know if i'm doing something wrong it'd help a ton!!
You can install ARK-4 without Infinity, but then it won't be permanent. This means that every time your PSP reboots/starts up again, you have to reinstall ARK. So, I recommend installing Infinity first. It'll show up just fine on a vanilla PSP; that's the whole point.
Who is still using UMD nowadays? you just have to get the movies you want to watch(by any means you want) and you could read them with the Vita movie app or any homebrew movie apps for VITA or PSP(obviously the one you prefer) and that's it... the beauty of this method is that you can watch any movies you want at any time without having each time, to change the UMD physical support.
I have a lot of nostalgia with a portable DVD player so I think it's cool to switch out the movies. Plus I try to use my psp as much as I can without homebrew but having this minor tweak is so nice since mine is Japanese. It's also super inconvenient to have to make the MP4 the right size and everything. Overall just nice to have
@benjaminmusic184 If it represents too much work for you with all mp4 coding or recoding files, there are multiple methods to get what you want without much effort... I don't want to promote piracy but when you are cornered, you must seek a way to get out ;) There are many ways to get movies on your device. There are also many websites that can help you with these problems... I'm sure you already know all this right?

When I try to open infinity after opening ark the screen just goes black and the psp shuts down, any idea why?
hey i had the same issue and i fixed it. you have to be on OFW 6.61 to run infinity

To navigate in the recovery menu you have to press Triangle - I found out by just mashing all the buttons and somehow found out.

Tip. Make sure your battery is full, so that your PSP doesn't turn off when you're installing software.

Ok I ran Infinity 2 and I’m on Infinity 1.x and now it says to uninstall with chronoswitch but I can’t get my PSP off this screen. HELP!!!!!!!

I figured it out! I had to install the plugins using the files section in the custom loader. Thanks for the awesome videos!
