I love tech dweeb because he’s such an enigma. I have no idea what he looks like and he uses this goofy voice, it’s like watching a made up character talk about tech, I never have thought of TD as a real person, he uploads from his room in a different dimension.
Watch it be Linus tech tips in disguise
@@JP.710 Wizard of oz like
Techdweeb, you seriously need to categorize all your videos such as device reviews, emulation device tips such as this video, the new Round Table series, etc.
TECHDWEEB I LOVE YOU

Do you love the dropshipping links too? Lmao a rg35xx cost $30 on sale on aliexpress and maximum at $40 and he show links for $85… same for other devices a rg35xxH cost maximum $50… this is a scam and he doesn’t respect his viewers, shame on this guy
every man needs money, but money does not need every man... @Uomodargilla
@@suhtangwong Ripping off your whole community can't be justified. Using affiliate links and displaying the lowest prices while being honest and transparent is much better.
I'd love to see a MuOS video too! I'm curious to find out why the community likes it so much.
Thanks for the video Mr. Dweeb!
MuOS is minimalist and needs tinkering depending on your preferences, but it's fast and feature-rich. For a gift to someone else I'd set up Knulli because it's prettier, but for myself I want every last bit of power from these chips I can get.
In the end, you can't really go wrong with either. Both are phenomenal.
@@FractalShoggoth What are the boot times on Knulli like? MuOS boots from shutdown in 6 seconds now...
@@pavichokcheI want to say around 15 seconds? It's still better than stock, but MuOS is faster. Knulli doesn't yet have support for sleep with the SP (sorry-- FLIPZZIZLE) hinge though, which is how I discovered MuOS in the first place.
When I set a device down, I never want to have to think, "should I sleep it or shut it all the way down?" When I pick up a device, I never want to find it dead because I chose wrong.
MuOS solves this problem by auto saving and shutting down after five minutes in sleep mode (or one, or ten, it's configurable). And you can set it up to boot directly into the last game you played and load that autosave, so it's totally seamless.
You can also set it to wait for a WiFi connection before loading the game, useful if you're hunting Retroachievements. And if you change your mind while booting and don't want to wait the extra 10-20s that takes, you can press Start to boot directly into the game without waiting for WiFi, or Select to boot into the main menu instead.
Knulli doesn't do any of that. It looks pretty and all, but I don't want to look at a pretty menu, I want to play my games. MuOS gets out of the way and lets me do that.
My only issue with MuOS at this time is that it doesn't hotswap to bluetooth controller like Knulli. When you connect a BT controller Knulli automatically assigns it as P1. From what I know atm You have to manually do this in MuOS. I like connecting my SP to the TV and using my BT controller and then when I disconnect use the console with no fuss.
This guy is my favourite RUclipsr ever.
I love him as well. Have you watched Scott the Woz? He's pretty great too
I love Batocera on these devices. A dream come true, videos, pictures, information about the games, etc… I love it!!
Except there's no official Batocera for these.... So you must mean the Batocera forks like Knulli.
Well, it started with Batocera V39 then V40 then Knulli.
@@manuelrodriguez9972 I would ask about that. How knuli compare to batocera v40?
Thanks for telling not only about fresh devices, but how you can improve experience with old ones.
This is what I've been waiting for. I've only had the 35XX Plus for maaaaybe like 4 months. I've been waiting for a half decent cfw and this is like perfect. Thanks for the guide love your stuff.
I think i speak for us all, when i say your naming convention is the one everyone should use hence forth.
Thanks for the tutorial TechDweeb!
I was really hoping you'd make this video. Thank you very much!
Stodgy OnionOS-loving bastard here!! Great video as always, TD. Makes me seriously consider grabbing a Flipzizzle for my kids. The ol' V90 is showing its age.
TechDweeb is really the TechKing
MuOS crew rise up! I don't use these things to look at pretty menus, I use these things to play games on. MuOS gets me into my game faster and with fewer barriers.
I've always found it so weird the way people suck off onion OS when it comes to proclaiming the MM+ as the best portable device, if you're spending more time in menus and hyperfocused on the UI than playing games then you're wasting your time
Love this channel and those techdweeb jazz hands :)
I love your videos! Thanks for all the info. 🧡
1:12 haha luv you Dweebs 😂
TECHWEEB I LOVE YOU
😘
I've been rocking stock OS on my sp myself. Upgraded to modded stock and it just works for me. Might change at some point though
If you wanted to keep the ext4 card format so you don't lose the portmaster compatability, you could have a live usb linux drive and boot from that instead of windows. It's useful to have something like that on a spare usb drive for this kind of reason or for repairing your pc drive etc. Great video as usual btw!
Thanks for sharing this! I'm a tech cave man but I think I pull this off thanks to your guide. :)
This was awesome and super helpful as usual. But I'd love to see a deep dive comparison between the various options. Especially muOS please! Thanks tech Dweeb! :)
I need one of those flipzazzles.
Another banger, thanks TechDweeb!
I love my Zazzbizzle. A great all around system.
Great video!
Yeah, another tech dweeb video ❤
Great video!!! Always enjoyable content.
Going to have to try this!
I still like muOS better since it has lid support for the SP model. Sure it doesn't looks as flashy as Knulli. But it gets the job done. Also more exciting updates are currently in the works for muOS including the upcoming 'Baked Beans' and then later the 'Banana' update. But I'll be interested in trying Knulli once I get around to buying a new Micro SD card specifically for this firmware.
No better feeling that Zazzbizzling it up.
Great video
I remember using batocera on my rg35xx plus and it somehow drained battery over night randomly even though it was shutdown properly. Also boot time was over 1 minute I think, so then I installed muos, but it had it own bugs so I went back to stock. Gonna wait a bit more just in case 👀
Batocera you just need to hit start from the main menu and shutdown. If you just hit the power button it will sleep and go flat.
Also if you charge it, once you unplug it it stays in like a low power mode and goes flat. You need to turn it on and back off again.
Pretty silly quirks but better than stock os so I live with it
@@Bluterus yeah I know, I always shut down poperly since jelos and arkos. But sometimes it still drained my battery overnight and boot time was way too long for my schedule 😅
Your tutorial is surprisingly easy to understand. Others have done the same but speak as if the person has prior knowledge of terminology and has been keeping up with the trend. I have not. I have NES and SNES rom from many years ago, using the oldest snes9x emulator. They were saying "front end" and i was sorta lost. I understand you. And thanks for adding Shredder's Revenge to the port master explanation. I want to play that game. Question: is port master available for the Retroid 4 pro? That's the one I'm getting. I'm sticking to android because i want to use the device for more than just playing punch-out.
I love Emulation Station as a front end. So I'm definitely interested in this for my SP. But Knulli doesn't support the hinge yet so I'm gonna hold off. Also, for the SP specifically, I really hope these custom firmwares eventually support the stock OS's power button shortcut that enables analogue stick input via the d-pad in N64 and Dreamcast.
you have my respect showing gun smoke!! Cheers!!!
Knulli is the best OS for this series of handhelds. Batocera is my favourite linux OS of all time. This is a fork of Batocera, so you get all the create stuff that comes with the OS. Amazing customisations, ES, the most number of systems available, and of course access to the amazing Acorn Electron and BBC Micro with pad2key mappings available. Heaven. And this distro will only get better as they fix things.
I could hear your terrible jokes all day 😂
At 2:36 that modified stock looks really nice 😯♥
Will it work with the original RG35xx?
Thank you for improving my life Techdweeb!
Excellent video, as always!!.
I'm wondering if you could do a video showing how to export save games between systems and different OS. Thanks man, You Rock!
my sp comes in tomorrow so this is perfect timing
a detailed tutorial video installing native pico8 on knulli with a windows pc would be a literal game changer!!! i dont know how difficult it would be because nobody will make a video and everyone just tells you to read the wiki but i've still managed to mess that up somehow and had to flash knulli to a new card and start from scratch lol.
I really happy about this firmware! Can’t wait to test it and many thanks about postmaster! Another thing,
How is the performance? It’s any better than MUos,koriki or last stock update? Thanks!!!!
7:04 I don't know this guy but I know he's my hero
1:12 why you calling us out?! 😂
Of course TD plays as Michaelangelo.
Would this be an automatic upload while my dude is gaming out in the middle of the woods? Lol
Love these videos thank you for helping me choose my bizzazzle! Is there anyway to get it to have games stored on both SD cards? I want to have some ROM hacks on there as well but that starts to push the 500gb sd card.
Looks so good!. I take it my RG ARC-D wont be able to use this os?
I might install this on the RG40XX H if I ever buy it. I love the Spaceballs Reference by the way, I loved that movie as a kid
Honestly as amazing as knulli is, it's the reason why I bought a miyoo mini plus tbh.
Whilst I love ES and how seamless everything works, I've had my fair share of issues with it installed on my 35XXH, such as 2d games lagging like crazy if I turn off shaders (and if I don't the image looks blurry), I can't update via OTA, the newest version didn't support the analog sticks, drag and dropping the update file corrupting the OS, and most importantly no sleep mode(which kills me the most)
I just got my miyoo mini plus but onion is genuinely is so much better imo, I think interface wise I still prefer ES but onion os just works, and it's amazing.
Thanks for the great video techdweeb sir !
I found that i had the same issues. I went with MUos. Not the flashiest front end but it got the job done with no issues....and the sleep mode works
muos is king for anbernic
Sleep mode has always worked, but Anbernic's proprietary kernel uses about 5% of the battery per hour while asleep. Knulli's "batocera beta" build had a bug in shutoff mode where shutdown would get stuck when using exfat, but ext4 works fine and I think the issue was fixed in Knulli. OTA doesn't work from bato to knulli since they're different OSes, but it works for updating knulli. Analog sticks work fine and always have, but Anbernic's kernel has such a huge dead zone, it causes cardinal snapping. I've had basically no issues on my 35XXH with bato-beta and knulli, except that the buttons are too stiff.
I have a Miyoo Mini Plus too, with Onion... and have run into several issues with it. The physical controls feel nicer since they're softer, but the hardware is slower so it can't run as many games or enable as many features, the clock doesn't work due to a hardware flaw, I've seen it randomly fail to boot, it corrupted its database within a few days, it uses old versions of things, and it's is missing a ton of features I've come to rely on in other devices.
Both are using the same exact model of Sandisk, not the included card.
Thank you for showing of PortMaster
I've got Knulli all up in my Zazzbizzle, and while it's not perfect, it's pretty dang good.
Can you share your experience of why it's not perfect and what cfw out there WOULD make it perfect? How is the performance?
How is PSP emulation on Knulli?
@@UberrimaFide5 The Zazzbizzle isn't a good device for PSP emulation. It's not fast enough or big enough to do that well.
@@Cyko.. Nothing is perfect. I'd change quite a bit about it. But as someone who has spent their career making Linux distros, I notice a lot more issues than an average user. Anyway, youtube won't let me go into more detail, because it'll trip the comment filters. I've tried.
@@UberrimaFide5 Terrible in it's current state. I was using Knulli on my TSP and more than half of the game library either won't run or crashes at the game start menu. They do have an alpha version that apparently works much better than the general public release if you donate. No doubt that over time this will be the cfw of choice since it is a fork of Batocera and runs off of emulation station as Dweeb mentioned but right now, don't think it's worth flashing in it's current form IMHO. Too many bugs that need to be ironed out.
I wish all the other youtubers used your anbernic names
2:18 and a Stag is a Male Deer, and Ganesha is a Elephant Headed God in Hinduism.
Every time you mention LITNXT i remember LTT
You should do a similar video for MuOS. There's also a growing movement in creating custom themes in MuOS, something that you'd be particularly good at doing!
My ears are burning
I'm running Batocera (Koriki) on my RG35XX Plus and I'm satisfied. But I'll give this one a go on another SD card just for a change.
I felt attacked and seen at the same time with the Linux PC bit. Ty I'll keep my superior EXT4 file system good sir.
TechDweeb said on the discord that it will work on retroids, too!
What about performance? Any systems running faster or better than what's already out there? It takes a long time to transfer things wirelessly to ext4. I'd like to know if all the trouble is worth it from what I already use:Batocera v40 beta and Stock.
So i noticed that in the scroll through the portmaster games, Runner 2 is included. Guess im going to have to buy a third copy so i can take it with me since theres no switch version as of yet
The Linux guy doesn't exist, he can not hurt you!
The linux guy!!! 7:05
Nice intro haha
In Knulli you can't change your hotkeys, so knulli is USELESS to me. I can't believe they made such an antifeature by design SPECIALLY considering it's a VERY WEIRD UNINTUITIVE and NONSTANDARD with other emulation station firmwares (jelos/rocknix, arkos...etc that go way back).
As a Linux user, I can confirm that we write our own operating systems all the time.
I'm a bit confuzzled by all these names.
Hey techdweeb, Can you do a video on port master? I just downloaded stardew valley on my 35xx plus and wanted to see if there is an analog option to build in the game. Since you have the same device you can see what I’m talking about. Would changing from muOS to knulli fix this problem?
Thanks for that coverage!! Does saving work better than the original OS? Kinda wish I could use traditional saving when playing through pokemon 😅
Hi TechDweeb 😌
I actually like the name Flipzizzle
OnionOS long forgotten 😢
Do you regret buying the gray model I'm torn apart between blue and gray and curious about your opinion
I run muos in slot 1 and modified stock in slot2 w games, lets me dual boot in case card 1 corrupts, gonna try out knuli in slot 2 now
Portmaster has been recetly added to stock OS for all RGXXX systems and that's the reason why I stick to modified stock os.
techdweeb which is your favorite zazzle/zizzle?
7:04 TechDweeb easter egg face reveal? :))
I have the R36S and I have the operating system and games on the same card and I used a 256gb card and filled it up with games, preview video's and images and its really laggy and takes ages to boot up. Should I separate the games from the operating system on different cards or just use a smaller card and get rid of the video's?
Wish the RG353V had more FW/OS options.
Gotta ask, when i spotted this video I was like "YES!!!" I can make my SP less mid now, but when I check the Knulli page they don't have an SP specific build. So my question is, does the regular H or 2024 build cope with the SP related features... namely quick suspend on closing screen?
Is it as fast, or faster, than the miyoo mini and onion for turning on and being back in the last game you were playing and at the same place?
(i havent watched the whole vid sorry, super strapped for time right now 😞)
I want the zazzbitty in orange
damn.... I thought for sure I was gonna get "First!"
Knulli means Fucky in Swedish, makes me giggle everytime I see it x)
2:17 no, no, cannoli is an Italian pastry
Oh... You use the silicon power too haha
This seems very similar to Koriki (bat overs) you presented a while ago !
Are there any differences ?
This is way less kerfuffle than MUOS. I suppose I'm changing out my firmware this weekend.
I fuk wit my zaazzzbizle. This firmware is cool
I'm Uncle JD and I'm always searching for a descent handheld that has a large screen and can play PS1 N64 Gamecube and bellow that aint expensive
This is cool. Thanks for the info. Personally, it's too flashy for me. I'm old school, like ATARI in '81 old school, and I prefer a straight directory listing. I've had emulation based handhelds since the Dingoo and many hacked/Flash Kits systems over the last 20 years. At this point I know the games by name and find it easier to just scroll and pick. I like to maximize my mSD by not including box art or other files I personally do not want or need. With that said, is there a custom OS that would meet my needs? I want a cheaper handheld because I do not feel comfortable carrying my limited edition Analogue Pocket with me.
Cheers. Thanks. I enjoy your videos.
Thanks for the great video! Just a heads up the link to your discord is no longer working. Would love to join. Thanks.
❤️❤️❤️
Hey Boss, In this video I saw files for Fallout1 and fallout2… can you make a video showing how to get those two games running on a miyoo mini plus??? It’s been a dream to play those games as I’m a big fan of the series!!!!
Could you make a tutorial for the new os replacing jelos on the pow 🐱 rgb30 and others? ☮️
12:20 - wait, so what about a mixed region library? would the scraper always rename it to one region or another?
Does Knulli have the "Quick Mode" like ArkOS does, where it mimics Garlic/Onion OS in creating a save state when you power off and when you turn on it loads up the last state?
