    Peggy and don are platonic the whole show
    That's why this ep is so good

  • @michaelcorcoran8768
    @michaelcorcoran8768 8 месяцев назад +30

    He's not in love with her in fact it's quite the opposite ... She's like the only platonic friend he trusts and he's going through an incredibly tough time because someone he cares about is dying. And the person he cares about is also a platonic friend. It's tough to jump into the middle of the universe four or five seasons deep because this is all stuff that has been developed over the years

      It's also significant because he rarely deals in platonic relationships.

    Mad Men takes place between 1960 and 1970. So you were almost right, when you said it took place in the 50´s. As for Peggy and Don, no, they never become more than friends. Peggy never had an abortion, so there is that.
    Two good episodes are season 3, episode 13 "Shut the Door, have a seat" and season 5, episode 11 "The Other woman".
    Also: Have you thought about watching Downton Abbey at some point?

      Don pretty much always carries that 1950s Conservative aesthetic with his fashion. Though most of the agency really does start to dress like the '60s and '70s. Just an amazing show, even if the plot sucked it would be amazing just for the immersion into the time.. of course the plot and themes were great.
      Definitely a top 5 show of all time for me.

    Basically anytime they name a dollar figure multiply it by 8 and that's about what it's worth today. $300 would be about $2,400 in today's currency. It's give or take you could say 7 or 9 depending on which season of the show

    You ever see someone take an amazing pulled pork sandwich, pull it apart... and eat the meat and throw away the rest? That's sort of like this video. I don't know if that's a compliment. It's just where my mind went.

    Yeah, Mad Men is definitely a show that I don't think would catch you with a one off episode. The things that make the show interesting are very reliant on you knowing things that happened to the characters the episode before, or the season before. . .I dunno. In the olden days, I think it would be the show you watch because it aired right after one that you were already hooked on because you weren't ready to turn in for the night, and the after about a month or so you'd find yourself interested enough to keep watching for its own sake.

    She gave up a baby for adoption in the first few seasons. She got pregnant when she was a secretary with the most annoying guy who works in the office. The husband of the woman (from Community) who walked into the bathroom in that ugly outfit. It was basically her making the choice to prioritize her career becasue thats always what she wanted. I was wondering if you were gonna catch Doyle from Gilmore Girls on there! lol Season 5 Ep 10 of Mad Men called "The Christmas Waltz" is really good if only for the scene between Joan (Christina Hendricks) and Don. You get an understanding of their relationship and its just really great.
