- My tribute to the late, great Miss Blankenship from Mad Men, Season 4. Her stay was brief and brevity is the soul of wit! Loved her.... Enjoy!

She was born in 1898 in a barn. She died on the 37th floor of a skyscraper. She's an astronaut.
That was so beautiful...
Yea that scene is missing, it was a nice way to put her to rest
She was still young then, it's the 1960s
Toby Schneider He was talking about how far the world has advanced in that time think about it the human race has never advanced as fast as we have been doing in the past 150 years its amazing really
And were named after a chainsaw.
she died the way she lived: chaotic neutral
soulfulpizza14 OH MY GOSH that’s perfect
That’s incredible
perfect
brief and eloquent
Damn that's goals LMFAO
She was perfect for Don. He knew he was losing his edge, so her constant mistakes ensured that he would stay on his game. Not to mention that it was a secretary he didn't want to bang.
Devon Rusinek. Put another way, he knew what he had to deal with and had to keep focused in a way of channeling all that energy.
Devon Rusinek Genius move on Joan’s part, assigning her to Don.
She's the best secretary he ever had ! She been through this bullshit before ! Remember whose old girlfriend she is !
She was awesome for Don!
“Dr. Miller is here to see you. It’s a *she* “
Nice to see Miss Blankenship into pronouns 60 years before their time
@@untexan I think that everyone would assume in the early sixties in the Advertising gig that a Psychologist in NYC visiting that Manhattan Men with that name would be a liberal male Jew. Don got the Other .That's likely the subtext.
Arthur Miller and all that.. he got Marilyn . He being DOn.
"It's a business of sadists and masochists, and you know which one you are."
- Mrs. Blankenship, Philosopher, casual observer of objective truths
As Queen of Perversions, we all know which one we are in her presence.
LoL you killing me
I sure don't.
Her best line of a bunch of great lines.
And you know which one you are.
Astronaut
"Good afternoon, your daughter's psychiatrist called" is definitely one of my favourite Mad Men lines
" The hospital called. Your test was positive".
"Are you going to the toilet???" 🤣
@@phillipecook3227 here 6 months later to let you know i understood that reference haha
ironically Jon Hamm was also in 30 Rock!!
Yes both his wife and daughter needed psychiatrists because of him. At least he could afford it.
Same Madi 😂
I love how she doesn't want to give the "gift" to Pete because it is addressed to Don. Everybody beat up Pete. Hilarious.
Then again, it is a federal crime to deliver or intercept mail to other than the intended, addressed recipient.
Pete has stole dons mail before lol
I love it that she addresses Pete as Mr peters and no one notices nor corrects her 🤣
Pete deserved to be beat up. Sniveling, weak and pathetic he was.
I like how she never really seemed intimidated by Don and he never really scolded or condescended to her the way he did with other secretaries who showed anxious submissiveness around him. It's almost like he sensed a genuineness and subtlety respected her straight shooter old new york lady style.
Probably because he knew she would take his junk and boil it in milk fat. She is the Queen of Perversions by the way.
@@vgernyc Very smart reply
He was definitely condescending to her as well.
More like she was a very old lady and he had to practice a certain amount of restraint when dealing with that fact
No, he said it himself. He deserved her after the way he treated Alison. And he knows it
Mad men never did comedy often but when it did it was funnier than any sitcom 😂😂😂😂😂
The guy who made Mad Men was one of the main writers for The Sopranos which did comedy very well too.
they had great comedy which was often dark humor. rewatching scenes after you get thru the drama is much more rewarding.
@@TrueSaintly ''Before and way before''
Fucking Paulie.
I think what made it so funny is I have done secretarial andreceptionist work before and it can't get so bizarre sometimes. I laughed at her because I've known people like her, and I've had situations have that at work that wasn't that far off. She was a kick!
This is more than just comedy ! This is Peggy before Peggy 1920s vs. 1960s
This needed to be capped off with Roger's line, "She died like she lived. Surrounded by the people she answered phones for."
J-Rod26 I think you're right. Sorry I missed that.
benofie No need to apologize. It's a great highlight reel and I love that people like you are out there making then for the rest of us to enjoy.
One of Roger's two best lines.
The other came when he was told the English executive lost his foot.
Roger: "Right when he got it in the door"
She was born in a farm and died in a skyscraper. She was an astronaut.
Also Don asking Faye to babysit Sally: "I would have my secretary do it but she's dead" 😂
"I've got your liquor" "I'm set..." "And then you're not" LOL
She knew what she was doing! It would only take him about 48 hours to go through a bottle!
Mar Thivierge would have found a desk drawer to put the bottles. Lol. No way he would be on the straight and narrow for long
Wow! You are very beautiful. Well hi there ;)
"the hell it does"
"Its Gene's birthday"
"Do you want me to buy him or her a gift?"
Or she could’ve heard Gene as Jean as well, and not been sure of which, hence the “buy him or her a gift”
Did*
first time i watched the tv i legit thought she was trolling don. then i thought maybe she meant mrs francis as she was just talking about her. im still notr sure what it was and i dont wanna know lol
No need to inquire about personal shit. Keep it professional.
i love the “i don’t work for you” hahahaha cracks me up every time
omg AND: “your little friend is waiting” 💀💀💀🤣🤣🤣 man i forgot how funny she was. bless her
love the sass 😂😂
lol yeah
The queen of perversions herself.
"That's the business of sadists and masochists. And you know which one you are."
The question is, which one was she?
Sadist
@@idab9958 masochist
@@hahdhsjsjrkfn lol yeah right
"My mother made that!" Classic.
realexkav Would love to hear what Pete Campbell was saying to Joan in the background.
@@jsm8149 you can see from his body language he says something like "WHAT? ME?!?"
Shitting on Harry is my favorite running gag.
It’s rare that I get the opportunity to like every comment from top to bottom
The slapstick of the whole scene was priceless.
The actress is fantastic. It's the secretary Don deserves after the way he treated the previous young woman.
She played the Karate Kid's mom.
Randee Heller
@@Tracymmo Imagine if Danielson showed up to see Don Draper. Now that's an image.
No one forced that secretary to stay and sleep with Don. She wanted him deep down and when he didn't respond the way she wanted she flipped out. Mind you that secretary was the same one who let Ken Cosgrove chase her down and look at the color of her panties
I remember 😅
Delightful! My ex wife was a secretary at a big aerospace company in the 80s. She shared an office with a woman in her late 60s that had been around so long that it was said she had been a secretary for the Wright Brothers! She was a hoot.
“A three-letter word for a flightless bird.”

'It starts with an L'
'The hell it does'
God damn 20s wittisisms
@Juni Donald Yeah, but she grew up in the 20s and 30s and formulated her speaking pattern then.
I say the hell it does and I was born in 1978, picked it up from my mother.
I don’t get it
7:16 hahahaha
I love this line as the fact that she's been around for so long that she's able to speak with ease like that to Bert and he accepts it.
Ida "The Queen of Perversions" Blankenship and her torrid affair with a much younger Roger Sterling is my elevator pitch for a Mad Men prequel series.
Hahahahahahaha omg
Pass
The hilarious thing is that Roger was probably in his early to mid-20s and "The Queen of Perversions" was probably in her late 30s or early 40s. I mean, damn...
Roger was Cougar Meat:))
@@Luboman411 same age as joan in this series.
"Tell my secretary you're hungry, and see what she says."
"i don't work for you."
Don reaction like: WTF!!! Hahaha
@@Su27Birmingham about that guy's incompetence, not about the "i dont work for you" line tho
"It's a business of sadists and masochists, and you know which one you are."
It's not only the line that's funny. It's her dry delivery.
..and the fact she is the Queen of Perversions
"GOOD AFTERNOON, YOUR DAUGHTER'S PSYCHIATRIST CALLED!" ..... embarrassed Don... "Lower your voice...please!"
Hahahahahhahaha psycho
I love Bert and Ida's relationship. It's very subtle, but you can tell they've been through everything together.
"The Queen of Perversions, Ida Blankenship."
"What's the category?"
"Best Actress"
Hilarious
I DONT WORK FOR YOU
Jake Weinstein Many people many times have wanted to say that!
so effing good!
Joan always keeps her head on while everyone else loses theirs.
"Are you going to the toilet?"
Hahahhahahaa I DIED
She is so funny, snd was the Mom in the Karate kid.
In caps tho
That pushing the wig up at 3.19 just adds to her character so much. Brilliant.
back in the 70s and 80s there were still tons of ladies like her living on Grand Concourse in the Bronx
“I don’t work for you” and Don’s reaction kills me every time.
🫲🤨🫱
YOUR GASTROINTESTINALOGIST CALLED, HE NEEDS ANOTHER STOOL SAMPLE.
lmao
LOL
I shit myself laughing at this one.
Madmen was the extremely rare work of art where everything was exceptional: acting, cast, direction, sets, stories, drama, costumes. And the writing? Un-matched. I miss it.
I'm jealous of people that have never seen it before and I often gift it to people when I find out they haven't
I miss having something exceptional to end my
Weekend
GOAT
Don's reaction drinking her coffee at 4:11 is so subtle and hilarious
Miss Blankenship was perfect. She had such "over it" mom energy. She was one of my favorite characters.
"Your little friend is waiting!"
I thought it was, "The little toad is waiting!"
It’s extra loud whenever they’re already there 😂
I laughed uncontrollably when the guy said, " My mom made that!", as they rolled Ms. Blankenship out of the office in his caftan.😂😂😂
Don:
Mrs. Blankenship: GOOD AFTERNOON, YOUR DAUGHTER'S PSYCHIATRIST CALLED
"I don't work for you"
I was one of the coroners attendants who carted Miss Blankenship out of the office as Bert and Roger say their short eulogies! 😵
You deserve an Oscar or something….you were rolling
I'm all set. And then you're not...😆😅😄😃😂💖💖 Priceless👍👌
Miss Blankenship was so unintentionally hilarious and reminded me SO much of my grandmother.
A racist Jewish Lady?
I think its hilarious how Pete is the Man Megan found !!! 😂🤣
I came to say the same!
She was a great character and she added so much without even actually doing anything, like Don and Peggy listening to Roger's autobiography about sleeping with Miss Blankenship. Her death was a perfect send off for her character and what she brought to the show.
2:47 🤣 Don told that poor fool to ask Ms Blakenship for lunch ideas! He knew she was going to have a smart remark.
Oh my god hahahaga
Pete and Joan wheeling her down the hall will always make me laugh. "My mother made that" LOL
Adjusting her wig at 3:19 ("Do you want to pick a place or should I?")
'Dr Miller is here to see you... it's a she..' is so perfectly delivered 😂
This is the funniest damn thing on RUclips. Can't tell you how many times I've watched it. Awesome!!
Still so freaking hysterical. I love this.
I'll never forget the 1st time I heard Harry say, "My mother made that!". I laughed out loud so hard
Lolol!!! I loved Miss Blankenship! "Are you going to the toilet?"
They wheeled her out like an old xerox machine.
Hahaha
She was an astronaut
Even her death was funny and chaotic. I loved her character, she cackled me. 😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks for this video.
Love how naps were encouraged back in the 1960’s.
Dirt naps.
Good to see the Karate Kid's mom still is finding work and moved back to the New England area.
Johnny Vegas I don’t get it
😂 LOL! I get it!
I get it too! I was trying to figure out where I had heard that voice. Your comment made it crystal clear after reading it. Randee Heller’s finest acting yet.
; I had to laugh out loud when her and the guy was tussling over the gift!... (2:25) lol,
Charles Zegzdryn the guy...
You obviously dont know this series
I love her and Bert doing the crossword together, and the fact that he knew when and where she was born. It really shows how the two of them must have known each other a long time.
She probably was his old secretary
@@venicec3310 Not probably, she was Bert's secretary in the first few seasons but the character wasn't actually shown until season four when she became Don's secretary.
I can't get over how perfect this show is. Its absolutely hilarious.
She was a legend. She was a golden touch for the show.
"My mother made that!"
Andre Carozza The view from the conference room of her being wheeled out is classic.
I'd completely forgotten about this character... truly great stuff
When people ask you which character is your favorite, a lot of people say Peggy, Joan, Don, Bert or Roger. But my favorite, is without any doubt, Ida Blankenship. That woman was funny, determined and sure stood up for herself
Nah Shes he worst lol
The last (and the best) of the breed...before the world went all-PC and decided they were "administrative assistants" after all, and there were "flight attendants" instead of stewardesses. *sigh* I will lower my voice, too. Thank you benofie, for this tribute
“She was an astronaut”
Mine is Pete
@@apurugganan but there were no anime pastors back then
Obsessed with mad men. Its like old wine more u watch u see more depth and complexity. It is so incredibly practical and awe inspiring
“Your little friend is waiting.”
Miss Blankenship is a national treasure 🤣
I vaguely remember the other creative staff saying "Don either *screws* them or kills them" after she dies
The actress was made up to look older. Randee Heller was the Karate Kids mom. She deserved the Emmy nomination that was given to her for Mad Men
Omg i never even realized it was her. But of course its unmistakably her voice.
💯
Holy shit, I never noticed how many zingers she had despite rewatching each season multiple times haha. You've done the lords work @benofie
Likewise. I didnt realize ms blankenships little come-backs either
"...Are you going to the toilet?" A question everyone in the office wants to hear while walking towards the restroom. haha, hilarious.
Stanislavski said "There are no small parts only small actors."
He had Randee Heller in mind.
My favourite is when she wouldn’t give Pete the package that arrived for Don 😂😂
Gotta love Mrs Blankenship!
* "Miss" Blankenship. -- Don Draper
Yeah she's an astronaut
Like Saul Goodman and Frasier Crane, she should have got her own show. Priceless!
yeah, `cept they killed her off
In the 1920s and 2020s, she could have led her own show.
Crane was an excellent examination into the deterioration of a person’s character.
Some of the best 10 minutes in television history. A genius performance.
Also, Ken's poker face is serious.
Absolute ace job of a no-sell. Doesn't even blink. "Meh, Pete will tell me *all* about it later."
She died as she lived; an inconvenience to everybody involved.
Don didn't cut her any slack despite her age which is why she got him back with her remarks. Great montage
When Don retched on his coffee I cracked up
I would have loved to see a scene between Ida Blankenship and Michael Ginsberg.
“I got your liquor” Don, “I’m set”
“And then your not”

Sorry
@@WouldntULikeToKnow. Unforgivable
Why would anyone down vote this compilation? I don’t get people.
6:08 Did you want me to buy him or her a gift?
This old lady character was master class of integrity.
I'd kill for a Bert Cooper/ Ida prequel series set in the 20s.
One of the best actors to grace the show, fantastic work from Miss Blankenship
04:12 his face of disgust when he sips the coffee 😂
"Megan, get a man." best line....
A true real New York woman
Played to perfection by actress Randee Heller. Her delivery was always so on point: comical and honest; and only emphasized by her physical comedy which was always somehow chaotic. Perfection! 👌
I did a LOT of trim and painting work for a nice older lady in Toms River NJ, we would always talk about MM and Breaking Bad. We couldnt believe how many cigs they smoked and Scotch/vodka/bourbons they would drink. Hello Mrs Fantuzzi wherever you are!
I’m honoring her memory right now, thank you!
06:27 “she’s still patting around for the buzzer, I’m sorry”
"My mother made that!" lmfao
4:04 why is no one talking about this 😅😅😆
As a black man, I cried at this scene! Rolling on the floor laughing😂😂😂😂😂
@@OnlySteph26 im black and that one ALWAYS makes me laugh.
Peggy: I can talk to Joan to get rid of her.
Don: No. Joan knew exactly what I needed and made sure that I had it.
"You got a call while you were in the toilet."
Doing the NYT crossword in ink. Nice touch.
“My mother made that!”
Classic.
The silent comedic scene in the background outside the glass room during a vital pitch meeting was brilliantly written and acted. Superb on everyone. Pete, doing a weird bent knee, struggling to pull the chair, was over the top; you could tell the Team inside the meeting room almost wanted to laugh but kept it so professional. Only when Crane loudly gaffed at his blanket being used did the clients look back to having missed the whole commotion behind them just moments before. LMAO. - Just brilliant!
“I’ve got your liquor...I only have two hands.” Bruh...🥴😂
"It's a business of sadists and masochists and you know which one you are".
4:03 I have to remember that one
