Congrats man! I came to the channel today to share my own little bit of success and found your comment. Thought I'd share it here, as we are all growing together like Evan says. I got the Rising Talent badge a few days ago and then got it replaced with 100% JSS yesterday. I started seriously in November 2021. I was already improving bit by bit, watching and reading a lot of stuff online. But for sure, like you said what Evan is doing here is way more helpful, and insightful. Bro, I like you as a content creator. You have a positive attitude, you are consistent, and you have a pretty funny sense of humor. My only problem is that I have tried everything you and about a dozen other content creators have suggested and the entire website just sits still. I don't get responses when I make proposals. I haven't been invited to the first project. Hell, people don't even give you the decency of a "No". Upwork has so far, wasted my time, asked me to buy a membership for something that has provided me with nothing, informed me that I'll need to pay in order to apply for more jobs, and assured me that if by some glimmer of hope, I do get a reply, they'll be taking 10-20% of what I earn on these imaginary jobs. So my question to you is this: What does Upwork ACTUALLY HAVE TO OFFER ME if it isn't making it easier to find work? Literally NOT ONE SLIVER OF WORK in WEEKS!
Evan, at 16:00 or there abouts, you mentioned NOT to copy and paste text into a proposal. At the same time, speed is critical to respond to a client. Can you comment on the right and wrong about writing prewritten proposals inside MS Word, and having, say 8 or 10 available for the jobs you're looking to apply for. These proposals can then be copied and then revised to fit the exact content for that specific job. This will be lots faster than writing a new proposal inside Upwork each time you apply for jobs. BTW, I offer voiceover services for commercials, radio, TV, PSA and audio books. Thanks for your comments.

I came across your video coz I would like to learn how I could find a work from home type of Job. But I am a newbie and a beginner... I just got kicked out of the company I was starting to work as a call center agent coz I didn’t meet their standard based on what I was trained... plus it was very toxic to work with jealous people... savotaged my work and someone even turned off my computer on my station during my lunch break. Hi Evan. What if you don't have any clients to give you a review or a testimonial? I'm starting from the ground floor to try to obtain my first client.
14:30 "why won't you do this for the old rate?" The best way I have found to get around this is I tell them my rates fluctuate depending on the work involved. Does the client already have 90% of the work done? Great, that's going to be cheaper than having to make things from scratch.
It wins for them, but not so much for you! There's a bit more advanced "rate strategy" that I'll probably cover surrounding this but think of it this way... Ideally when someone looks at your profile & job history, they don't see rates all over the place. They know what "today's rate" is because all the rates are the same. The process of getting there is kind of involved but I've found that to be very helpful once you ARE there!

Hey! Wonderful video! Can I raise my hourly rate after I have accepted the offer, via changing terms options? I mean how would I do that when talking with my client. This is only in case I assume afterwards the quality of work I am delivering deserves a bit higher hourly rate.
You "can" do that in theory, but in practice I wouldn't. I'd close out Project 1 (current project) at a major milestone, and then when they need more work, explain you've raised your rate. You have the feedback locked in then.

Go make some mockup work examples! Act as if you're going to create "the best in the world" and go create an example - it does not have to be for a paying client!

I searched logo designers with magic link but i can't see very succesfull logo designers. It does mean that only logo designers can't earn a lot of money?
Hello Denis, thanks for your comment! We checked and the Magic Link is indeed still active - logo designers might do more than just logo design, or be listed in another category, did you try that?

@Rayhanur kabir THANK YOU! I always try to include some of the “smaller details” in every video that not everyone knows - especially the parts of Upwork that only clients see (I am an Upwork client in addition to the Freelancer work I do, so I see that side too). I hope that approach is helpful! 🥰🐯

The other day I saw a video where someone was saying client sees the additional questions 1st then thy see the cover letter. (upwork format), not sure if that's true or not but most of the people don't know what it looks like from clients end, including me.

Hi Evan. What if you don't have any clients to give you a review or a testimonial? I'm starting from the ground floor to try to obtain my first client.
Get a testimonial from someone who knows you, who you have done any sort of work for!

The best way I have found to get around this is I tell them my rates fluctuate depending on the work involved.
Does the client already have 90% of the work done? Great, that's going to be cheaper than having to make things from scratch.
It wins for them, but not so much for you! There's a bit more advanced "rate strategy" that I'll probably cover surrounding this but think of it this way...
Ideally when someone looks at your profile & job history, they don't see rates all over the place. They know what "today's rate" is because all the rates are the same. The process of getting there is kind of involved but I've found that to be very helpful once you ARE there!

How should a beginner tackle the bidding part of the proposal? It almost seems like you have to bid in the top 5 or move on, but I don't really understand it completely
Hey! Wonderful video! Can I raise my hourly rate after I have accepted the offer, via changing terms options? I mean how would I do that when talking with my client. This is only in case I assume afterwards the quality of work I am delivering deserves a bit higher hourly rate.
You "can" do that in theory, but in practice I wouldn't. I'd close out Project 1 (current project) at a major milestone, and then when they need more work, explain you've raised your rate. You have the feedback locked in then.

This what it is 😂. Good job evan, everything is good so far on upwork but i certainly find it difficult to cope up with the platform as they charge tons of bucks as fees.
Once you REALLY get going on Upwork, the fees aren't so bad!
