Having a unique introduction on your cover letter that is absolutely clear that you wrote it for the specific job is crucial. The vast majority of proposals get archived before even being opened fully because the client can tell it's not unique. Also, being that I frequently work on both sides of Upwork (freelancer and client side) I can tell you that taking the time to get good at demonstrating the value can provide will be the biggest factor in your success. When a client opens your proposal they need to feel confident that you may be able to solve the problem they are having. That means the proposal needs to be more client focused rather than focusing entirely on yourself and why you are the best.

This is a good overview of writing proposals. The content goes deeper than most and adds in the information about not having examples. One questions is what is meant by cover letter, I may have missed it. By cover letter do you mean text in the proposal field on UpWork or should there be a separate PDF cover letter?

@@khurrammalik4558 the mistakes we made as new upwork freelancers is when we are writing a proposal is we are trying to get hired and thats huge mistake or we don't read the job description very well but when you propose try to communicate with the client and give him improvements about his project and give him your history by making personal experience related to this project and lastly ask him a question that will make the client contact you and that will land u. On interview and so on ...

Every time I watch a video of you, I put a like for it, because I learn many things from what you're teaching us, and because you're so generous!
What if you don't have that piece of evidence to alleviate the clients concerns? There is no chance for an inexperience freelancer to begin? What if you have been a teacher for +15 years and you decide to make a change and be in control of your time trying a different job from home. I hope we can find videos for the ones that are taking off.
