@@SaritasShop Well, congratulations on starting your freelance journey! There is no better time than now (Upwork has something like $2.5B worth of projects these days - crazy, right?!) There are maaaaany many many tips I could share. Definitely watch all the videos on the channel and take all the steps (especially the Profile & Proposal videos!) and you will be in a better position than at least 85% of the people on Upwork! Beyond that I would say, spend a lot of time on browsing jobs and finding things you can do REALLY WELL, and then looking at the profiles of successful freelancers doing those jobs (Top Rated Plus, $500k+ earnings). That will give you such INCREDIBLE insight into what is really working on Upwork. Then, make sure you spend a good amount of time on your profile, and especially your first 3 work examples. With a great profile that is angled toward what clients consistently want, with great work examples, you will be in a great position for success already. From there, it’s about spending tons of time learning everything you can about Upwork, how the system works, testing out new approaches toward proposals and improving your client-facing skills. @Saritas Boutique Shop That's great - yes, one thing I would say that was tough for me to overcome was that "fear of being judged" when sending proposals. I always wanted "to send the perfect proposal," and to "just make sure it was perfect" but I realized it's just one of those things where you need to just keep going, no matter what. In the beginning, I would send proposals to absolutely everything, even if the price was low and mine was high (think: job rate is $5 / hour, my rate maybe $50 / hour...) and I would STILL SEND THE PROPOSAL - because you never know, maybe they DID want something like what I was offering, they just didn't know that it existed! So at least this way, the client would then have the "option available" if they wanted to work with someone at a different level from what they initially contemplated. So by going through this process, I quickly realized that by just reaching out, and never being afraid to send a message to a prospective client, then I was ACTUALLY HELPING THEM OUT by showing them that "Yes, I am here, and if we're a fit then I offer excellent work. If we're not a fit, that's no big deal though!" For me it was a mental shift that ended up working extremely well. Whenever a client responds positively to you... take that as, "GREAT!" Whenever a client turns you down... take that as, "NO BIG DEAL! We just weren't a fit... NEXT!" Whenever a client doesn't respond to you... take that as, "NO PROBLEM! Lots of people create a job on Upwork then get distracted and forget about it - I'll just go apply to 5 more!" When you believe in your mind that you NEVER LOSE, but only have everything to gain, then you start to win very quickly 🥰 #freelancevideos

Love this video and it gave me information on how to have an effective profile. However, I am a beginner in freelancing. What will I indicate in my portfolio?
1. Don't say my name is... 2. Don't repeat everything in ur title. 3. No grammar mistake They only care about what u can do for them i.e result and not u. Ur entire upwork profile should be strategize about that What do clients want? What terminoligies do the client keep on using for the jobs that u want. Write down suggestions that keep on seeing in ur search bar and choose the one that closer to the type of jobs that u want. Get inspirations from top earners in your niche. You'll get a lot of data points from the demand and supply side that point who is ur ideal client and what do they want. What do they want? Frustrations? Tired of sth? Their Ultimate Goal?
Descriptions, headline and rest of your profile. Start with 2 sentence. This is what will be seen first. Then, clients struggles. What r those frustrations? Then, benefits. What benefits r they going to get by working with u. Then what is a bad fit actually looks like. What kind of clients u don't want to work with. Then about u. Keep it short and do not go into great details.
Your headlines It needs to be descriptive and punchy and extremely short. Portfolio Pictures of results are important. Take inspiration from top earners. Models of your works that consultants are delivering to their clients. It should stand out. It should be the most professional work examples u can deliver.u want those pictures to be results, results, results. U don't need 100 work examples. Minimum work examples should be three.If u can nail them, it will sell clients for u
Remember, in description u r answering specific questions for a specific client that u r going to do their job much better, faster and high quality than everybody else. We're trying to speak to things that are frustrations and making them tired. In portfolio, it doesn't have to be a project on upwork. A video doesn't matter. Don't do it. Skip it. The last thing u need to do is beta testing.U have to look on the clients' perspective. What does it look like when they search u . Update ur profile regularly.
I am a Beginner. I got frustrated trying to set up my profile. I even deleted the Upwork app. More than a year after, i have just downloaded it again to give it another shot and I am grateful to God that I found you. I am making notes, will practice what I learn and i believe i will return with great success stories.

One of the most underrated youtube channels I have ever come across! Thank you for sharing your valuable experience with us brother. I myself have a profile on Upwork with no job. It's been over an year now. I still have no idea as to how to get my first job. I have a youtube channel with over 5.7k sub, running a couple of monetized websites and also selling on Amazon. But what I earn from all these sources is very little. I desperately want to earn something as a freelancer. Would be helpful if you make a video on how to get the first job in Upwork.

@Mark Angelo Garcia - I think you're RIGHT, the proof is in the performance! But if there was a client who needed an especially-careful eye for a very large deal and was considering two totally equal people, but one has grammar / spelling mistakes in their profile, and the other doesn't, who wins? The point is more that "this is the FIRST thing that a potential client sees" - so why wouldn't we take a minute to make sure it's exactly what we want them to see, right? Because who knows - it could mean that another $100K worth of client spend DIDN'T come that person's way, because they got dinged for something as small as that. (Yes, some people really do care about that stuff - especially when they're paying some of the highest rates, they expect the best!)

@@edgarb.7633 that’s great! SEO can be pretty competitive but if you know the advanced strategies it can work pretty well for longer-term client work. The super-advanced SEO FLs do incredible work and are really worth paying high rates. What drove you to make the switch to SEO?
@@FreelanceMVP I felt a bit stuck with copywriting--just working mostly as content writer for agencies and stuff like that. And I'm quite a streaky writer so there were days where I couldn't write more than 500 words and others where I wrote 4000 quality words in one sitting. It was good enough to pay the bills, save a bit, and live relatively comfortable, but I want to take it to the next step. I've always liked SEO and read about it here and there, and worked with a couple agencies and have a partner that did some basic SEO in some projects we shared and I feel it's a good opportunity to take my income to the next level if I specialize in it. Plus, I work a lot with startups and small business owned by immigrants (mostly Venezuelans) in the US and they generally don't know much about SEO or have many SEO mistakes in their websites. So I think it's an interesting opportunity.
@@edgarb.7633 that’s really great, I love to see it. Especially when you have the opportunity to work with your existing clients on something higher-value, all the better for you then! It’s really interesting when you always keep your eyes open for the highest-value work you can be focusing on. SEO can also be great for an “audit + quick fix” as a starter package, and then transition into longer-term recurring engagements (again, seeking the highest-value use of your time). Great stuff! Is that the sort of package you are planning to offer? You can do really well once you get into the advanced SEO tactics!

@redmash beats thanks for your comment, glad to see you join us! In relation to your question, are you planning to commit to doing data analytics on Upwork? Because if so, go for it ASAP. Laser focus on a specific niche is really helpful in being successful long-term on Upwork, and so the sooner you choose your specific direction, the better. But if you're making the switch, change everything: Your tags, your work examples, your headline, your profile description, everything to reflect your focus on data analytics. Clients aren't looking for someone who dabbles - they want the person who is focused specifically on what they're trying to achieve. Is that helpful?

Write down suggestions that keep on seeing in ur search bar and choose the one that closer to the type of jobs that u want.
Get inspirations from top earners in your niche.
You'll get a lot of data points from the demand and supply side that point who is ur ideal client and what do they want.
What do they want?
Frustrations?
Tired of sth?
Their Ultimate Goal?
Descriptions, headline and rest of your profile.
Start with 2 sentence. This is what will be seen first.
Then, clients struggles. What r those frustrations?
Then, benefits. What benefits r they going to get by working with u.
Then what is a bad fit actually looks like. What kind of clients u don't want to work with.
Then about u. Keep it short and do not go into great details.
Your headlines
It needs to be descriptive and punchy and extremely short.
Portfolio
Pictures of results are important. Take inspiration from top earners. Models of your works that consultants are delivering to their clients. It should stand out. It should be the most professional work examples u can deliver.u want those pictures to be results, results, results.
U don't need 100 work examples. Minimum work examples should be three.If u can nail them, it will sell clients for u
Remember, in description u r answering specific questions for a specific client that u r going to do their job much better, faster and high quality than everybody else.
We're trying to speak to things that are frustrations and making them tired.
In portfolio, it doesn't have to be a project on upwork. A video doesn't matter. Don't do it. Skip it.
The last thing u need to do is beta testing.U have to look on the clients' perspective. What does it look like when they search u .

One of the most underrated youtube channels I have ever come across! Thank you for sharing your valuable experience with us brother. I myself have a profile on Upwork with no job. It's been over an year now. I still have no idea as to how to get my first job. I have a youtube channel with over 5.7k sub, running a couple of monetized websites and also selling on Amazon. But what I earn from all these sources is very little. I desperately want to earn something as a freelancer. Would be helpful if you make a video on how to get the first job in Upwork.

@Mark Angelo Garcia - I think you're RIGHT, the proof is in the performance! But if there was a client who needed an especially-careful eye for a very large deal and was considering two totally equal people, but one has grammar / spelling mistakes in their profile, and the other doesn't, who wins? The point is more that "this is the FIRST thing that a potential client sees" - so why wouldn't we take a minute to make sure it's exactly what we want them to see, right? Because who knows - it could mean that another $100K worth of client spend DIDN'T come that person's way, because they got dinged for something as small as that. (Yes, some people really do care about that stuff - especially when they're paying some of the highest rates, they expect the best!)
Can't know how I bumped onto this. All in all Damn good content 🥇. I also have been watching those rather similar from MStarTutorials and kinda wonder how you guys make these clips. MStar Tutorials also had cool info about similiar things on his vids.

@@edgarb.7633 that’s great! SEO can be pretty competitive but if you know the advanced strategies it can work pretty well for longer-term client work. The super-advanced SEO FLs do incredible work and are really worth paying high rates. What drove you to make the switch to SEO?
@@FreelanceMVP I felt a bit stuck with copywriting--just working mostly as content writer for agencies and stuff like that. And I'm quite a streaky writer so there were days where I couldn't write more than 500 words and others where I wrote 4000 quality words in one sitting. It was good enough to pay the bills, save a bit, and live relatively comfortable, but I want to take it to the next step.
I've always liked SEO and read about it here and there, and worked with a couple agencies and have a partner that did some basic SEO in some projects we shared and I feel it's a good opportunity to take my income to the next level if I specialize in it. Plus, I work a lot with startups and small business owned by immigrants (mostly Venezuelans) in the US and they generally don't know much about SEO or have many SEO mistakes in their websites. So I think it's an interesting opportunity.
@@edgarb.7633 that’s really great, I love to see it. Especially when you have the opportunity to work with your existing clients on something higher-value, all the better for you then! It’s really interesting when you always keep your eyes open for the highest-value work you can be focusing on. SEO can also be great for an “audit + quick fix” as a starter package, and then transition into longer-term recurring engagements (again, seeking the highest-value use of your time). Great stuff! Is that the sort of package you are planning to offer? You can do really well once you get into the advanced SEO tactics!

@redmash beats thanks for your comment, glad to see you join us! In relation to your question, are you planning to commit to doing data analytics on Upwork? Because if so, go for it ASAP. Laser focus on a specific niche is really helpful in being successful long-term on Upwork, and so the sooner you choose your specific direction, the better. But if you're making the switch, change everything: Your tags, your work examples, your headline, your profile description, everything to reflect your focus on data analytics. Clients aren't looking for someone who dabbles - they want the person who is focused specifically on what they're trying to achieve.
