I even deleted the Upwork app. More than a year after, i have just downloaded it again to give it another shot and I am grateful to God that I found you. One of the most underrated youtube channels I have ever come across! Thank you for sharing your valuable experience with us brother. I myself have a profile on Upwork with no job. It's been over an year now. I still have no idea as to how to get my first job. I have a youtube channel with over 5.7k sub, running a couple of monetized websites and also selling on Amazon. But what I earn from all these sources is very little. I desperately want to earn something as a freelancer. Would be helpful if you make a video on how to get the first job in Upwork.

@@edgarb.7633 that’s great! SEO can be pretty competitive but if you know the advanced strategies it can work pretty well for longer-term client work. The super-advanced SEO FLs do incredible work and are really worth paying high rates. What drove you to make the switch to SEO?
@@FreelanceMVP I felt a bit stuck with copywriting--just working mostly as content writer for agencies and stuff like that. And I'm quite a streaky writer so there were days where I couldn't write more than 500 words and others where I wrote 4000 quality words in one sitting. It was good enough to pay the bills, save a bit, and live relatively comfortable, but I want to take it to the next step. I've always liked SEO and read about it here and there, and worked with a couple agencies and have a partner that did some basic SEO in some projects we shared and I feel it's a good opportunity to take my income to the next level if I specialize in it. Plus, I work a lot with startups and small business owned by immigrants (mostly Venezuelans) in the US and they generally don't know much about SEO or have many SEO mistakes in their websites. So I think it's an interesting opportunity.
@@edgarb.7633 that’s really great, I love to see it. Especially when you have the opportunity to work with your existing clients on something higher-value, all the better for you then! It’s really interesting when you always keep your eyes open for the highest-value work you can be focusing on. SEO can also be great for an “audit + quick fix” as a starter package, and then transition into longer-term recurring engagements (again, seeking the highest-value use of your time). Great stuff! Is that the sort of package you are planning to offer? You can do really well once you get into the advanced SEO tactics!

Because of this, I surf the internet to find information about what can I improve. You have a very interesting approach to learning.

But let me first ask, which do you find as the harder part: the Upwork PROPOSAL (writing an impactful cover letter that will make a client want to respond to you), or the INTERACTION with the Upwork client and then getting them to offer you a contract? That will help us narrow the focus for that video.

@@edgarb.7633 that’s great! SEO can be pretty competitive but if you know the advanced strategies it can work pretty well for longer-term client work. The super-advanced SEO FLs do incredible work and are really worth paying high rates. What drove you to make the switch to SEO?
@@FreelanceMVP I felt a bit stuck with copywriting--just working mostly as content writer for agencies and stuff like that. And I'm quite a streaky writer so there were days where I couldn't write more than 500 words and others where I wrote 4000 quality words in one sitting. It was good enough to pay the bills, save a bit, and live relatively comfortable, but I want to take it to the next step.
I've always liked SEO and read about it here and there, and worked with a couple agencies and have a partner that did some basic SEO in some projects we shared and I feel it's a good opportunity to take my income to the next level if I specialize in it. Plus, I work a lot with startups and small business owned by immigrants (mostly Venezuelans) in the US and they generally don't know much about SEO or have many SEO mistakes in their websites. So I think it's an interesting opportunity.
@@edgarb.7633 that’s really great, I love to see it. Especially when you have the opportunity to work with your existing clients on something higher-value, all the better for you then! It’s really interesting when you always keep your eyes open for the highest-value work you can be focusing on. SEO can also be great for an “audit + quick fix” as a starter package, and then transition into longer-term recurring engagements (again, seeking the highest-value use of your time). Great stuff! Is that the sort of package you are planning to offer? You can do really well once you get into the advanced SEO tactics!

@@FreelanceMVP Yes, I am. I have ended 2 contracts with good feedback. But after these contracts nobody hired me. I am not new in the professional area, only I am new on Upwork. Because of this, I surf the internet to find information about what can I improve. You have a very interesting approach to learning.
So I'm a poet and a writer on upwork, a beginner, though... Honestly. This was really helpful. Tried bidding for some jobs. .its not been favourable. So I'm just going to watch more of your videos and see how I can apply that to real terms

We'll going to cover "the Upwork pitch process" and Upwork cover letters - basically, converting POTENTIAL Upwork clients into YOUR Upwork clients - in an upcoming video. But let me first ask, which do you find as the harder part: the Upwork PROPOSAL (writing an impactful cover letter that will make a client want to respond to you), or the INTERACTION with the Upwork client and then getting them to offer you a contract? That will help us narrow the focus for that video.
