Last I played ED, which was a while ago, the issue with PvP was instancing. It can sometimes be difficult to jump in a system and find friendlies along side unfriendlies having a blast. If they would resolve this then the idea of PvP would be more appealing.
I think any new ship is a good thing. Whether it is PVP or PVE focused, it doesn't matter with engineering. Some of us have a full stock of engineering materials with nothing to enhance. Additionally there are players out in the black who explore using the Mamba and federal Corvette, so that's something to keep in mind.
Assuming it isn't faction linked, can't imagine it would be prohibitively expensive. It's only a medium after all, and it's hardly in the same realm as the cutter or the corvette in terms of faction investment time.
@@frederickvondinkerberg7721 I don't know that I agree with the soulless part, but I completely understand your frustration with the grind. Honestly, the crap they expect you to do for engineering is unreal. I find the space combat engaging, but you have to do a lot of crap to get to where you have the gear to do it properly. It sounds like you're kind of done with the game, but if you ever wanted to give it another try, there are guides to make the engineering grind tolerable. All you need is a decent exploration ship, and you can cut the engineering grind from hundreds of hours to like...a couple of days of misery.
@@SlavicEngineering I mean, mine took a few days, probably? The potential for it to take hundreds of hours is there, but only because Elite just doesn't do a great job of explaining how to get certain things. Cool, something else to grind for, to finally buy, then grind out the proper modules, then grind out the engineers, then find a bug and post it to the steam forums only to be banned (speaking from experience), etc. I've been having a blast in No Man's Sky instead
All i want from ED are more personal missions that can be done. Maybe it has changed but i stopped playing as the go here shoot stuff, go here collect stuff, go here shoot with mining lasers and collect stuff got old after a few thousand hours of play and i had enough money to do what i want. I think of RPGs and the quest lines they have, one links to aother links to another taking you on a voyage. Even if the first quest was just a fetch quest. Now i have the ships i want in ED thats kinda it for me. And this fedral python doesnt scratch that itch, even more so with the PVP focus.
I wonder if that little circular dome bit on the rear of the top, along the centerline, is planned to be some sort of stealth device. That would make for a fascinating secret ability and make the ship crazy in PvP. They did say it's inspired by modern stealth fighters...
Probably meant stealth as in you'll never see it, because everything will get delayed and eventually dropped like their ice planet rework from a few years back! 🤣
The most concerning thing about this is that the comments on this ship imply the new power play will be more heavily PvP focused. Was excited about possibilities with new power play, but if it is too PvP-focused then that is less interesting. Was hoping for better power play. That the FDEVs seem to be PvP focused makes me think they are missing (or more hopefully - not yet saying) the boat.
If pvp becomes mandatory for power play, that's going to hurt. The shop being pvp focused just means it's combat focused to me. If it's pvp good, it will be conflict zone good
Seems like it's going to be a fine looking ship. The Python was always a favorite of mine. All they need to do is cut the soul-crushing grind, make the game fun to play, and I'd be back with a cheer. As for the PvP focus, it's whatever. While I don't do PvP I'd get it anyway. Pretty much any ship that's good for PvP is certainly going to be good for PvE.
I loved elite, but the main fact that it has become almost a non-social game for anyone who doesnt have friends playing it kills this game for me. Came back for a month with the last DLC but couldnt hold on it.
0:58 Is no one going to address what looks like a pair of engines peeking out of the bottom aft of the ship? It looks like an auxiliary craft or fighter stuck on the bottom of the ship. Kinda like the P52 Merlin snub fighter on the Constellation series in Star Citizen. I wonder if this is the capability of the ship that Frontier didn't reveal 2:32
Elite should get the general player base to hand in designs and allow us vote on the best ones to be integrated in the game. That would booster game loyalty and participation.
The Power of Stargods at a reach of my dreams. I've played for years, and i always dreamed of a ship like THIS. I've been a grinder, a Fuel Rat and a Pirate... I did it all. Oh boy.. this tickles a comeback. I'll be following you Frontier. And thanks @ObsidianAnt. Your content was always Paramount for me.
If only Fdev implemented something like Helldivers 2 with the Thargoid War. Dropping in from your ship, evacuate people with waves of Thargoids coming in. Destroy eggs. Call in gun support from your ship.
I think it's absolutely gorgeous. I'm betting that this will take over as my combat cargo hauler....assuming they do NOT make any Optional Modules as "Military".
@@Aggrobiscuit Certainly it could. There's speculation the unnamed feature might be some sort of stealth capability making interdiction locking more difficult.
The ship looks nice but the whole thing frustrates me. Can they please work more on:- 1. Make the current ships more unique from eachother. Make them more interesting. I.e. vary the silent running, effectiveness of the Flight Assist, turning characteristics (not just turn rate based on size) and boost variety etc. Currently all the ships operate pretty much the same based on the same core modules and individual turning rate. Its just boring and unrealistic. The idea that this new P2 may have a unique feature is great, can they update other ships with something unique too? Even their reliability? E.g. DeLacy = more reliable, but maintenance at starport is higher? 2. Use the politics to assist pvp. As Andrei15193 mentioned below; make pvp more group based. 3. Allow players / groups to be able to name / build small starports in new sectors. Allow them to contribute to their own voice welcome announcements etc. Pvp to then become more starport based. Introduce strategy in trade, laws and policing etc and not just the basic shoot em up, although its important and should continue to be. Oh and work less on paint jobs etc.. Again they are nice to a point but frustrating given the bigger opportunities here.
I am glad they listened to feedback and finally created some actual new content for the game after 2 years. I am cautiously optimistic for the next ships to be revealed. Hoping for either a racing ship or a new taxi variant from saud kruger. Also hoping for a new trade vessel. Or will it all be combat ships?
They listened to feedback about wanting new content and new ships.. then created a ship that that a very small niche, practically dead part of the community wants.. and doesn't need.. How are you happy about this? This just shows Frontier is just as brain dead and inept as ever.

The amount of detailing it has really sells that it is a large ship to me. Even though it's a medium one. Elite ships always had that problem for me, the sidewinder is larger than my house, but in game it looks like a couch with engines strapped on the back. This one actually looks like a sizeable structure. The back gives me hercules c2 starlifter vibes
@raghav1026 I'd rather new designs than just a variant. It's been years with barely anything and then they decided to do this amoung other dumb decisions lol used to love elite until they kept going into crazier and crazier grinds.
I think the Python is a favorite for a lot of players, including myself, and I have to say this ship captures precisely none of the charm of the mk1. It's too slick, it lacks the rough or more industrial aspects of the mk1 that gave it so much of its charm. In fact, the rear reminds me way more of the MSR or recent smaller Crusader ships from SC. Overall, I just don't feel it's a Python. It's something else. Which is fine, but by any other name it would smell sweeter.
I'm glad that Elite isn't dead but I'm really holding my expectations in check. Update 19 better blow everything out of the water with the power play update. Elite needs some desperate love.
People are gonna have their reasons for not liking the PvP focus... but people always find a way to make it multipurpose. Also, PvP players have been begging for more content for years... I'd consider this a big win for those who enjoy that kinda thing. I'd argue this is one of the larger portions of the Elite community, at-least vocally... so props to Fdev!
my guess is the "other purpose" is going to be based around power play, and if they keep it to where we need to have cargo, my guess is it "other purpose" will be cargo-combat. PvP ship that carries large amounts of cargo. Almost like a faster mini Type 10. The Python MK I is still going to be the "good at everything, but not great at anything" ship... being an all round good starter ship because its versatility, where the MK II will be hyper focused on PvP and Cargo running. Medium to light armor, extreme thrusters, an ok FSD, and a fuel tank that needs filling every other jump. Not sure if this will be designed to be the hunter or the prey. (Hunter- Strike Hard Strike Fast) (Prey: Tank a few hits, return fire, Immobilize the enemy and get out)
Nice...I heard there is a new quest to get it "for free". You have to destroy 400.000 asteroids then collect and deliver 100.000.000 tons of Palladium to Hutton Orbital. Once you finish that you have to go to Beagle Point back and forth 2 times and then do a 360º to the entire galaxy. All that in an Eagle, no engineered allowed. Enjoy. ;)
A new ship to add to my fleet of fighters, colour me happy indeed… Looking forward to buying this and giving it a good go, always liked the Python, but hated how horrible it flew, can’t wait to actually get my hands on it…
I bet you all that the special ability will be something around stealth or radar signature. Maybe the ship will run extremely cold, being able to disappear from radar beyond some range without silent running.
It looks like a combat ship. I wonder if frontier are going to prioritize pvp a little more. If this ship can be equipped with as many cargo racks as the mk1 it will make a fine pirate ship
frontier definitly very focusing on combat, against humans it seems and also against thargoids too (sadly for me giving credit to the story and lore about them and their contact with "guardians" and humans, but i understand that in term of gameplay fighting them is kind of fun with a different and more interesting fight mecanic than just human ships). i love the elite overall visuals and designs but i find it great to put the old ones a bit aside and give us new original models but still with some inspiration from them, i like this more modern new mkII design. i love the original idea of engineering and give our ships a true personalization in their fitting (with some grind to be able to do it but this is another debate), but there is one big problem with pvp i think, unless they fix it by nerfing at least weapons, it is broken and not at all balanced right now and so not really fun for everyone who does not play dumb metas, so this pvp orientation will benefit only a small amount of players i think (pvp arena some years ago was cool because kind of balanced and everyone at the same level still with some ships variants, it was just skill and no meta overpowered weapons)
I think it has to do with stealth, this new mysterious feature. My thinking is that it has 2 modes, stealth and combat. It may even transform a bit when going from one mode to the other, as we see it now in this video is the default combat mode, and then when it engages stealth the wings fold out and makes the ship into a complete wedge. This may cause the ship to drop from radar and lose tracking lock😊 Ofc no deployed hard points during stealth mode. Maybe we'll see a new hull material too a long the lines of radar reflective stuff etc. I am curious about the round dish on top at the back too, looks like an Awacs dish almost.
This is great! I know PVP doesn't get much love these days... it seems the only people playing don't care much for PVP. If implemented correctly, engaging the community by encouraging space combat amongst players could reignite this game! I love it! Keep going FDEV!

Its just a recipe of grind /disaster/nerfs/forums bans/ coping & lies/ forcing players to endure something that just make them having no grip toward the game People just want to live their Star wars / Star Trek fantasy and they are stuck inside a glass ball doing their "own narrative" but its only the 3 same activities with a big amount of "why did I do that again ? for 300 credits and 5 reputations points , 2 mats tiers 1-3 and I must do it 300x again because its supposed to be my own fun and its getting funny the 301th times" =>Simulation is a thing , simulating england 1800's jobs in space isnt the definition of fun and enjoyment

My rank in combat is harmless. But I want that sexy ship.
Nice but I can't be arsed to ED grind out their ships.
Assuming it isn't faction linked, can't imagine it would be prohibitively expensive. It's only a medium after all, and it's hardly in the same realm as the cutter or the corvette in terms of faction investment time.
Sick of grinding, hate pvp... game has been flat boring since launch and I play the crap out of the original and sequel... it is a soul less game
@@DarkJak337if your engineering takes hundreds of hours, are you even in front of your PC?
@@SlavicEngineering I mean, mine took a few days, probably? The potential for it to take hundreds of hours is there, but only because Elite just doesn't do a great job of explaining how to get certain things. You shorten the time by engaging with the community, not because the game tells you what you need to do.
I was intrigued until I heard PvP. Won’t be booting up ED after all.
Pvp focused ship only means they're actually dedicated to make a ship good for combat. Any ship good for pvp excels at pve combat as well.
I advocate just picking the ship you like and using it however you want. I really enjoyed leaving the bubble and exploring in an eagle.
Does it come with a ship interior ?
Damn this game had so much potential and yet never listen to its gamers….
"Let's release an alternate version of everyone's favorite beloved ship and make it pvp oriented."
"Let's make a new reskin for everyone's favorite ship and give it a 6ly jump range because it's 'pVp fOcUsEd!'"
Its wonderful news isnt it? makes it 10x better. The python mk1 was never really the best at pvp ngl
I kinda want to call this the Federal Python, as the front end reminds me of the Federal Xships.
That's what I was thinking!
The silhouette of it as a whole is pretty reminiscent of the Federal series. Which is to say, it looks a bit like a leather shoe.
If it's pvp good, it will be conflict zone good
I wonder if they planned for ship interiors for this ship…
Probably not because we might get bored.
Imagine if its hidden capability is steath panels or some sort of active camo which can be activated for more unique fights in both PVP and PVE
Doubtful. But that would be interesting.
active camo? probably not.
black paint job and some type of reusable heat sink? i could see it.
It's hidden capability will be weekly upkeep.
@@SpaaaaceMaan you'll have to apply stealth coatings aboard your fleet carrier. The module will take 300 billion credits a month to keep up.
That’s exactly what I was thinking… but I think it’s wishful thinking. If it does happen I’ll buy it in a heartbeat.
The design makes me think they took in some gutamaya engineer refugee. Looks good though.
ordinary is not good
@@cmdr501generalvenator3 there's no such thing as an ordinary space ship
Seems like it's going to be a fine looking ship. The Python was always a favorite of mine. All they need to do is cut the soul-crushing grind, make the game fun to play, and I'd be back with a cheer. As for the PvP focus, it's whatever. While I don't do PvP I'd get it anyway. Pretty much any ship that's good for PvP is certainly going to be good for PvE.
Found someone who's never flown a federal ship in conflict zone or bounty areas.
Honestly though, it has a very Avenger Titan feel to it, to me. Definitely Python aesthetics of course, but it reminds me of the Titan.
Except it's probably 10 times the size lol. Not that you'd know from being able to get a sense of scale from walking the interior....oh...
Funny I thought it looked more like a Gladius but a huge version of it ofcourse.
It looks nothing like the Avenger Titan.
What’s the big dome on top near the rear?
Good lord the jaggies! How does the AA look so much better in Legacy than Odyssey?!
How's the interior though?
Elite should get the general player base to hand in designs and allow us vote on the best ones to be integrated in the game. That would booster game loyalty and participation.
The Power of Stargods at a reach of my dreams. I've played for years, and i always dreamed of a ship like THIS. I've been a grinder, a Fuel Rat and a Pirate... I did it all. But one thing i always dreamed of - a reprogramed and reassembled Python - the icon of strength and survival. And i'm not puting the Jack of All Trades flag over it yet. Oh boy.. this tickles a comeback.
If they say it is meant for pvp (combat in gerneral?) I'm pretty sure it will have military only slots.
@@KaMe-A9 Worst decision ever. Military slots should never be a thing. Period.
@@Aggrobiscuit Certainly it could. There's speculation the unnamed feature might be some sort of stealth capability making interdiction locking more difficult.
The ship looks nice but the whole thing frustrates me. Can they please work more on:-
Meaningful pvp is exactly what I want. Please give me pvp bounty hunting missions too, with some ability to track gankers.
Looks like someone stretched a Viper MKIV. No interior shots though.
Aerodynamic features? Feels floaty? Look at those wing tips... Gas giant gameplay and I'm back in a heartbeat.
@@Cramblit I don't know man. It can still be used as a PVE ship for bounty hunters, and we do still have three more ships to see. I wouldn't give up hope for a new hauler and explorer just yet.
@@CramblitThere is more than one ship coming, but yes the first one is disappointing and generic as hell.
Classic Frontier. HYPEEEE we are going to do something!!!
Just kidding we aren't ready
Well we can't tell what we are going to do
Disappointment delivered
New ship? Checked in to see.
PvP focused? Checked out.
Good for pvp means goid for pve too.
@@raghav1026hahaha Thargoid war era is about to end, leave it to FD to introduce new ships AFTER the biggest invasion in history that focuses on combat
Oh boy this does make me want to get back into the game to get this ship.
I think the new powerplay model will directly involve players. That's why such focus on PVP. Perhaps they will go in the direction of EVE online? It wouldn't be bad.
How? Disable solo mode? No way in hell they would
@@cmdrls212removing the ability to affect powerplay without ever interacting with other players should be a thing though.
Its like a corvette and a python secretly met in a space motel and slapped hulls together with lots of synthetic oil involved and weird space toys!!
The MAMBA was the ship that needed an update.... lost opportunity
It looks like the fer-de-lance and python had a child. I LOVE IT
Mamba's a good PVP ship?
(not being snarky, genuinely curious)
Like Poetry Mr. Ant. :)
i was initially excited when I heard 4 more ships were coming to elite. I lost all excitement when they said it was going to be ship variants .
Krait phantom is a krait variant and everyone loves it. You literally cannot please the elite community.
Looking at this ship, just another mastered down combat focus medium. Already have Mamba and FDL
Isn't enough to bring me back
I actually like the angular look of the current ships.
They are providing a new ship for Gankers in other words?
It probably won't be that fast given the size and that it's still a python. So, no, I don't think it will be good for ganking.
To me, waiting a couple of months seems like a rush business design to try and get the game back on track
6 years, and all they could come up with was a modified Python? Good Grief.
better than nothing no?
my guess is the "other purpose" is going to be based around power play, and if they keep it to where we need to have cargo, my guess is it "other purpose" will be cargo-combat.
Enjoy. ;)
I'm on my way, do my Part! Cant wait to unlock this thing 🤗
Sounds like a Tarkov endgame quest
the sound of your voice cleanly chastising every inch of this ship and FDev's slow approach is music to my ears.. haha!
Absolutely gorgeous ship.
I can't wait to see what it looks like inside ...
Was that Silent Hill music in the background?
A new ship to add to my fleet of fighters, colour me happy indeed… Looking forward to buying this and giving it a good go, always liked the Python, but hated how horrible it flew, can’t wait to actually get my hands on it…
Thought there was more then just one AND that they had already been released.. still and will always love Elite Dangerous my first ever space game
Havent played in a couple of years now, has any new info showed up about RAXXLA?
Wait. Elite: dangerous is still getting updates?
This!! hahah i feel you so hard
I am looking forward and will log back in after a year.
Very sleek and tapered design almost like the blended lines of the F-22 and F-35 with the stealth coating.
if its good for pvp that means it will be good for pve right? cuz i play solo
I bet you all that the special ability will be something around stealth or radar signature. Maybe the ship will run extremely cold, being able to disappear from radar beyond some range without silent running.
It looks like a combat ship. I wonder if frontier are going to prioritize pvp a little more. If this ship can be equipped with as many cargo racks as the mk1 it will make a fine pirate ship
prioritizing pvp is all frontier does since after horizon
@@Igeltod is that bad? The game has solo .mode for players who don't want to engage in pvp
Most important....
The commander seat is on the center?
frontier definitly very focusing on combat, against humans it seems and also against thargoids too (sadly for me giving credit to the story and lore about them and their contact with "guardians" and humans, but i understand that in term of gameplay fighting them is kind of fun with a different and more interesting fight mecanic than just human ships). i love the elite overall visuals and designs but i find it great to put the old ones a bit aside and give us new original models but still with some inspiration from them, i like this more modern new mkII design. i love the original idea of engineering and give our ships a true personalization in their fitting (with some grind to be able to do it but this is another debate), but there is one big problem with pvp i think, unless they fix it by nerfing at least weapons, it is broken and not at all balanced right now and so not really fun for everyone who does not play dumb metas, so this pvp orientation will benefit only a small amount of players i think (pvp arena some years ago was cool because kind of balanced and everyone at the same level still with some ships variants, it was just skill and no meta overpowered weapons)
Oh yeah pvp....I remember that!
Panther clipper next please!
and the puma
thought and effort being put into the game. Players being listened to.
I'm pretty sure settlement conquest will be part of the new power play...
This is great! I know PVP doesn't get much love these days... it seems the only people playing don't care much for PVP. If implemented correctly, engaging the community by encouraging space combat amongst players could reignite this game! I love it! Keep going FDEV!
People who play PvP won't grind for 500 hours to get decent combat gear. Also other MMOs all have safety features in case you lose your gear, or getting your progress isn't hard because of quests or levels in other things, elite only has cash
@@yazzzlet3549 2,500+ hours in game, I don't explore, I trade only to effect BGS, I've never been to Colonia. I only travelled far enough to unlock Palin... so yeah, maybe I'm the oddball, but I did the grind, for the sole purpose of blowing stuff up. I love flying in this game! Hands down the most beautiful, and immersive space game still to date. Just gotta get more Cmdrs in the seats... If Fdev does it right, it could be very good!
You do pvp when pvp is fun (most players will do pve to discover mechanics and build a wallet/stockpile to enjoy more pve with firends in 3/4 of the cases) and not requires 80h of grind for one singular upgrade you can loose if the buddy in front has grinded 800h more than you and just stock pilled it into one murder ball ship you cant harm
=> tarkov allows you to maybe kill a merc with a mosin nagant and some luck/skill making the balance even but its not a mandatory thing to do because survival is better and picking your fights IS the lesson , many others games gives players a possibility to flee or loose a part but still be able to recover and keep determination
even pve is difficult with the AIs having some pvp oriented builds sometimes or if you have tactics , friends but in the end its a real chore feeling like a second job and its not what a good video game is supposed to be (grinding can be fun look at Monster hunter or looter shooters like the division , so definitly its something akin to ED that makes it on the unfunny side of the entertainment)
Frontier devs didnt understand what made the game appealing , community is divided between people living their exploration hubble satellite fantasy and not participating whatsoever in the game meanwhile some reddit guys just min maxed everything and made open play just unfriendly towards new players. Its just a recipe of grind /disaster/nerfs/forums bans/ coping & lies/ forcing players to endure something that just make them having no grip toward the game
People just want to live their Star wars / Star Trek fantasy and they are stuck inside a glass ball doing their "own narrative" but its only the 3 same activities with a big amount of "why did I do that again ? for 300 credits and 5 reputations points , 2 mats tiers 1-3 and I must do it 300x again because its supposed to be my own fun and its getting funny the 301th times"
=>Simulation is a thing , simulating england 1800's jobs in space isnt the definition of fun and enjoyment
A new "PVP focused" ship. Adding incentives to PVP. What does that mean?
It means they are going to incentivize playing in OPEN....bigger bonuses for activities, more impact to power play, etc.
Solo/Group will become the second class afterthought.
