I did mine on a Saturday took me 6hrs to take old them off by myself. And 2 to 3hrs to install new headers. They are heavy duty so get a second person to help you. But worth it.
I'm curious to hear all the reviews on these Headers and Y Pipe. Main thing is that they fit without any modifications and they line up w factory/aftermarket cat back exhaust. price comparison from $600 to the ARH Long Tubs for $2100.
I've found nothing but good reviews of these headers. They fit perfectly; if I had an aftermarket/factory bolt-on exhaust, it would have been an easy bolt-on situation. I chose my route because I had a custom exhaust from the start. Speed Engineering seems to be a solid, cheaper, option than TSP or ARH.
The exhaust bolts break off as they weaken due to constant heat cycles of the engine and from side to side motion of the exhaust. When the exhaust sways side to side the bolts are pried up from the block. They will stretch about 1-1.5mm, and after that the head just pops off. Sometimes it seems like the heads broke off when you go to remove them, but in reality they are already broken. Depending on which way the exhaust swings, the bolts at the front or rear of the block will stretch first. Replace them every 3-4 years, as it is not a matter of if, but when. Every time you drive your car the bolts get a little bit weaker. It didn't help that in 2014 the factory flex pipe was removed.
Thanks man!! Dude that's gonna sound sick! I know you'll enjoy that. But I got my sleeves I believe from Amazon. I was looking for through my orders and I couldn't find it, but I know I got them from there.
great job on the install! does your truck have the 8 speed transmission (8L90)? I couldn't help but notice you have a stock transmission dip stick. my 2016 does not have one I want to see if I can get one (oem) for my 8l90. I know they sale after market ones but looking to get original if posible.
Did you find the right side header was touching the transfer case crossmember frame mount? Just above the frame the header is resting on there with mine.
@@Coletrain0128 you can maneuver the headers some on the side of the heads. But you have to remember too that if you have your transfer case lifted up the headers will be a little off cause they’re not in the resting position of the engine/transmission
I plan on getting my truck tuned due to further future mods. But just for long tube headers (LTH), I would personally recommend it. Reasons: 1) you're changing the flow of exhaust fumes in which the ECU isn't tuned for, so the truck will run slightly different (not in it's healthiest manner). 2) you're deleting the rear 02 sensors for the CATs so you will have that pesky check engine light, and idk about you but I hate seeing that light lol. 3) if you don't already have a module that turns off the AFM (V4 mode), then you will hear one of the worst noises you've ever heard from a truck engine in its full loudness with LTH
I doubt you'll pass emissions with this setup. I think you'll need CAT's with long tubes to be good. The check engine is on due to the two O2 sensors being disconnected from the rear.
No it doesn't. It comes with the same circular type exhaust ending so you can clamp it back up to a stock exhaust or maybe a bolt-on aftermarket exhaust.
